However, for some reason, when I try to click either System Settings or Software Center, the icon pulses as if it were working to come up but never does. The same goes for System Settings. I would expect that a password dialog would appear, but nothing shows. Is there bug with 11.10 that didn't exist with 11.04?

I have found so much information regarding theoretical aspects but just a few articles focused on practical programming aspects such as architecture, design or implementation.
Could anybody suggest any good source that I could explore? I wouldn't like to "reinvent the wheel" but to contribute with something better to the current state of the art.

Every time I add a PPA I cannot see the package I'm trying to install. I suppose I must be doing something wrong! So here's my latest effort:
In a Terminal I typed:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jeromerobert/misc
and that seemed to work correctly
Then I typed:
sudo apt-get update
But when I go to Synaptic or Software Center the application I want to install is not there. Could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

We always make 2 documents the SRS (Software Requirement Specification) and the FS (Functional Specifications) documents for the coders aka programmers.
As I have examined the SRS is more like containing both functional and non-functional requirements as compared to the FS that deals only with the functional requirements.
To cut it short will the SRS be sufficient enough for the programmers to do their work? and not make any FS anymore?
