I followed the instructions on mount-an-iso-image-on-windows-2003. I don't see the the drive after mounting.
Anyone have a simple clean way of mounting ISO image on Win 2008 Server?
I'm running Metasploit from Win 7 x64, and I've set up my Metasploitable 2 virtual machine on VMware Player. I can ping Metasploitable's IP address from the Metasploit console, however if I use nmap it says:
Note: Host seems down. If it is really up, but blocking our ping probles, try -Pn
I try it with the -Pn switch, it says
Nmap done: 1 IP address (0 hosts up) scanned in 0.64 seconds
I've disabled my Windows firewall and I'm running Metasploit as admin. Why can't I nmap my virtual machine?
We have a win 7 home prem pc, amd cpu, 8G ram, plenty of free disk space. Whenever user is working in publisher 20003, and tries to save a publisher 2003 document to the desktop, the save as dialog hangs and takes 2-3 minutes to display the desktop save location. I've tested excel 2003, it has no problems immediately displaying the desktop save as location and saving the file.
Problem: When excel windows are minimised, I can't see the file name, all I get is a rather unhelpful 'Microsoft Excel' proceeded by the file name.
I have the taskbar docked on the left, and have second monitor that I use about 50% of the time, but can't work out what is causing the problem, or a setting that I can change that will remove the appended software name at the beginning of the file.

I've become so used to aligning windows to a grid on Windows (via Win+Arrow Key) and Linux (via Compiz Grid) that when I sit down at a Mac I want to gouge my eyes out trying to align windows.
Is there any sort of application or service for Mac OS X that handles windows like this?
Here is an example of Compiz Grid plugin.
I am using VMWare workstation 6.5 and have installed WinXP SP2 on it.
My main operation system is Win 7.
when I am hard-wired, I can use internet inside vmware but when I am wireless, I cannot use internet inside vmware...
I did a research and found that the network adapter should be on NAT instead of bridge, I tried that but it did not work either.
I wonder if there is a software which can control Windows server over a browser. I know it sounds is strange however I haven't seen any and as you can do scripting with *nix system I think it could be a good one.
Functions that I am after:
User management
Printer install
msi assign
I know there are many programmes including a win server but I would like to do it only one surface.
Has anyone come a cross such a thing like this?
I'm running Win XP on Parallels on my two home computers (iMac and macbook pro). I'm planning to buy Office 2010 Student version and install it on my virtual xp:s. How the licensing of MS Office goes on virtual machines? I'm worried about the scenario where I have to re-install virtual machines (which happens some time), and because of that I have to install Office 2010 Student version many times. I think that the licensing of MS Office Student version allows installation only for three times?
As I am still fighting with Conficker infection on my Win Server 2003.
I will like to temporally disable scheduled task services on server.
Until I can be sure that infection of network is over.
Win 2003, PHP 5.2.1 and IIS 6.
I have PHP configured as ISSAPI and it is serving PHP pages. When I try a page that requires MySQL I am getting just:
PHP has encountered an Access Violation at (and a RANDOM number)
What is all.
Google has not provided me with results that help me fix.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
I'm remotely investigating issue with my friend's WIN XP computer. The browsers (Chrome and IE) won't show any pages but message with err_connection_reset in details.
I've tried to perform "telnet google.com 80" and send there "HEAD / HTTP/1.0" from console and everything went fine, but browsers refused to give me anything. I've checked for presence of firewalls and proxy servers in the settings, but nothing seems to be there. What else to check?
As I navigate through the folder hierarchy using the top "drill down path" (which is new to Win 7 and cool), I miss seeing the tree reflect my current selected folder location shown on the right.
Is there any way to bring this functionality back?
I don't know, why this happens, but when I want to create a new folder (Win 7), I press Ctrl + Shift + N. It used to work before, but now, the shortcut seems to have been overridden. It launches the default browser with the text on the clipboard as the url. How do I fix this?
I am trying to publish website (asp.net 4.0, IIS 5, win server 2003) from my machine to server 2003 and getting error 'The Web server does not appear to have FrontPage Server Extensions installed '.
I have followed the following steps but somehow can't see FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions checkbox under IIS details.
click Add/Remove Windows Components
Click on "Application Server" and click "Details"
Click on "IIS" and then "Details"
Why can't i see the option for 'FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions'?

I am having a problem performing maintenance tasks on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 after changing my server name from the original random name given during installation to the one I prefer
This is the error am getting
Could not obtain Information about Windows NT group/users
'WIN-4N4A9TLBGJJ\Administrator', error code 0x534
Is there a way I can fix this problem without having to delete the account and recreating it again?
Nowadays on Windows 7, if I have no mouse on my computer I just press Win Buttom+-+Enter:
This makes my computer to shutdown without using a mouse. However, on Windows 8, I need the mouse to open that hidden menu on the right side of the screen, open the "Settings" tab - "Power" - Then choose for "Shut down", "Sleep" or "Restart":
There is some keyboard shortcut to open these shutdowns options on Windows 8 or another way that not just with the mouse pointer?
I am not sure. I want to have Windows 3.1 so I can use specific Win3.1 apps but I no longer have the floppy drive so I can't install it. Is there a way to legally install Win 3.1 with IMG? I don't think MS supports Win3.1 at all.
Win 7 Pro SP1 x64

I was looking in chrome://gpu which told me that "Rasterization: Software only. Hardware acceleration disabled." and further down "Accelerated rasterization has not been enabled or is not supported by the current system."
Is there a way to enable hardware acceleration?

My sister still has Win XP. She tried to print a document on her USB printer and now it's stuck in the printing queue. I tried the following:
Restart the computer
Restart the printer
Delete the entry from the printing queue
From the printing queue choose Printer\Cancel All Documents
Right click the print job and choose Pause
The status of the printing job now reads "Deleting - Paused - Printing".
Nothing I do seems to get rid of this stuck printing job.
What should I do?
Hey, Guys
I've got several network adapter in my PC (from LAN, WLAN, VPN etc...) and what I want to accomplish is that some specific adresses use the VPN adapter, while all others use eiter LAN or WLAN.
(So for example http://win-server/ is using VPN, while www.google still uses LAN connection.)
I've want to solve this with the Windows settings and not the VPN settings to make sure I can do it with every VPN-Provider.
Thank You
