• Open XML SDK 2 Released

Permalink This post is a little late since the SDK was released about a week ago.  At PSC we have been using the Open XML SDK 2 since its earliest beta.  It is a very powerful tool for generating documents without using the Office DLLs.  It is also the main technology that I have been working with for the last six months.  I would suggest giving it a try.  Stay tuned here.  In the near future I will be presenting at different locations on this and other document generation technologies. These videos shows off one of the nice things that we dream to do in a mobile: open a PowerPoint file inline from the email client, edit it, and send it back to the original sender. Announcement of .NET 4.0 3. Announcement of Silverlight later this week 4. What is the current Trend? Microsoft has done a research with many developers across the globe and have got the following feedback from the users. Get Lost (interrupted) - When we do some work and somebody is calling or interrepting by someother way we lose track of what we were doing and we need to do from the start Falling Behind- Technology gets updated  phenomenally over a period of time and developers always have a scenario like they are not in the state of the art technology and they always have a doubt whether they are staying updated. Lack of Collobaration - When a Manager asks a person what the team members have done and some might be done and some might not be and finally all are into a state like we dont know where we are. So they have addressed these 3 points in the VS 2010 by the following features : Get Lost - Some cool features which could overcome this. We have some Graphical interface. which could show what we have done and where we are. Some Zoom features in the code level. Falling Behind - Everything is based on .NET language base. 2010 has been built in such a way that if developers know the native language that's enough for building good applications. Lack of Collobaration - Some Dashboard Features which would show where exactly the project is. And a graphical user interface is shown on clicking which it directly drills down even to the code level. 5. An overview on all new features in VS 2010. 6. I got a lot of info about Bing today. BING really rocks!!! It has the following : 1. Visual Search 2. Product based search. For each product different menu filters were provided to make an advanced search 3. BING Maps was awesome!! It zoomed in to the street level and we can assume that we are the persons who are walking or running on the road and we can see the real objects like buildings moving by our side. 4. PhotoSynth was used in BING to show up all the images taken around the globe in a 3D format. 5. Formula - If we give some formula it automatically gives the value for the variable or derivation of expression Also some info about some kool touch apps which does an authentication and computation of Teched Attendee's Points that they have scored and the sessions attended. One guy won an XBOX in lucky draw as a gift. • Why is it impossible to produce truly random numbers?

  I was trying to solve a hobby problem that required generating a million random numbers. But I quickly realized, it is becoming difficult to make them unique. I picked up Algorithm Design Manual to read about random number generation. It has the following paragraph that I am fully not able to understand. Unfortunately, generating random numbers looks a lot easier than it really is. Indeed, it is fundamentally impossible to produce truly random numbers on any deterministic device. Von Neumann [Neu63] said it best: “Anyone who considers arithmetical methods of producing random digits is, of course, in a state of sin.” The best we can hope for are pseudo-random numbers, a stream of numbers that appear as if they were generated randomly. Why is it impossible to produce truly random numbers in any deterministic device? What does this sentence mean?

Machine Code - Assembly - Programming Languages - easier - more easier - etc. If this situation continues anyone will be able to program (even complex systems). Even now, most of the kids study programming at school (Pascal , VB, etc.). Will be there any jobs called software engineering in future (if everyone know to program). ....and.... What do you think about the future of software development?

• Apple actualise la gamme MacBook Pro

  Apple a renouvelé sa gamme de MacBook Pro. Ce qu'il faut retenir : Le MacBook Pro 13" gagne encore en autonomie, pouvant atteindre jusqu'à 10 heures. Il possède un processeur graphique NVidia 320M inconnu au catalogue NVidia. Il semblerait que ce soit un processeur graphique fait spécialement par NVidia à la demande d'Apple. Les MacBook Pro 15" et 17" accueille les nouveaux (peut on encore dire nouveaux ?) processeurs Intel Core i5 et i7. Du coup, ils embarquent également le processeur graphique Intel HD qui ne vaut rien par rapport au processeur Nvidia qui équipait la génération précédente. Mais elle est secondée par une carte NVidia GT330M, présentée comme étant 2 fois plus puissante que la NVidia 320M. C'est surtout le fait qu'il ne faille plus rien faire pour basculer d'une carte graphique à l'autre. Et ça, c'est vraiment bien. Apple propose également, en option, une dalle de 1680*1050 sur le 15". Ce qui est une excellente chose.

  I am looking for a good comparision of different available professionial requirement managment tools. I am especially interested in the the features available within the different software solutions. Additionally to the "obvious" features I am looking for a proffesional Requirement Management System that supports for: multi-lingual customizable generation of documentation & history (graphs) search features (e.g. fulltext for comments), ordering, priorities version history bi-directional traceability of changes, artefacts, requirements, changes in requirements, etc. Any kind of integration of V-Model XT would be a really-nice-to-have-feature... Besides, I'd like to hear any personal motivated recommendations and/or experiences with different requirement management systems.
