• 3d user experience with HTML5 and Javascript

  I've to build a 3D user experience with HTML5 and any required JS library which provides such functionality. 3D scene consists of a cylindrical pipe and surface. It has 360 degree rotation and can zoom in and out. As user selects a parameter, specific value of that parameter at various depth of pipe in surface should display. I've searched for HTML5 3d and JS libraries and found three.js could help for this.Also found this useful presentation on HTML 3d engine: http://projects.mariusgundersen.net/OnGameStart/#1 .But as this is my first time with HTML5 3d modeling, how should I initiate to build ? What parameters should be considered ? Which tools and libraries would best fit for such requirements ? I would like to create a 3d model using HTML5 and JS 3d engine as shown in the 1st image.

• Internet Explorer visual element stacking issue

  Gday All, I know this issue is well known, however I have searched high and low for a solution to no avail. I have created a menu system using nested ordered lists where the menu functionality is controlled by CSS and Jquery. The menu works perfectly in FF, Chrome, Opera and Epiphany. However in IE 6/7/8 my popup menu is being displayed underneath a table. See the image below. The very top box is a div element containing my menu system. I am working with legacy code that uses tables for display so the next box and the "ts found. Try a different subcate" text is in a "td" element of a table. I have tried to force the table to have a lower z-index but this does not work. Any insights into why this is only present in IE would be appreciated. Cheers, Michael

• JNI unsigned char to byte array

  I'm working with a C++ library that stores image byte data in an array of unsigned characters. My jni function returns a jByteArray (which then gets converted to a BufferedImage on the java side), but I'm not sure how to fill the jByteArray from the unsigned character array (if it is possible). Can anyone provide a snippet for this last part to basically do this: // size is the size of the unsigned char array const int size = 100; unsigned char* buf = new unsigned char[size]; // buf gets passed to another library here to be populated jbyteArray bArray = env->NewByteArray(size); // now how do I get the data from buf to bArray? • jQuery validate + ajaxSubmit on multiple forms

  Hello there. I'm trying to validate multiple forms in one single page with the jQuery validation plugin but it validates only the first form in the page. Here is my code: $('form.reply_form').validate({ submitHandler: function(form) { $(form).ajaxSubmit(optionsReplies); return false; } }); Is for a list of reply forms in the page (image facebook). If I try to use the third form, for example, it validates the first one and if the first one is blank it wont submit. Thank you in advance.

• Why does sorl.thumbnail ImageField fail in the admin?

  I have code that looks like this: from sorl.thumbnail import ImageField class Gallery(models.Model): pass class GalleryImage(models.Model): image = ImageField(upload_to='galleries') In the admin: class GalleryImageInline(admin.TabularInline): model = GalleryImage class GalleryAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): inlines = (GalleryImageInline,) If I use the sorl.thumbnail as above, it is impossible to add images in the admin. I get the validation error Enter a list of values. If I replace the sorl.thumbnail.ImageField with a plain django ImageField, everything works. If I want sorl.thumbnail to clean up the cache thumbnails, I need to use it in the model, but if I use it in the model, I can't seem to add any images to need thumbnails. Anyone else found and fixed this problem yet?

• Obey the MediaBox/CropBox in PDF when using ghostscript to render a PDF to a png

  I've been using ghostscript to convert my single figure plots rendered in PDF to png: gswin32c -sDEVICE=png16m -r300x300 -sOutputFile=junk.png -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE Figure_001-a.pdf This works in the sense I get a png out and it contians the plot. But it contains a huge amount of white space as well (an example source image: http://cdsweb.cern.ch/record/1258681/files/Figure_001-a.pdf). If you view it in Acrobat you'll note there is no white space around the plot. If you use the above command line you'll find the plot is only about 1/3 of the space. When doing the same thing with an eps file I run into the same problem. However, there is the command-line parameter -dEPSCrop that one can pass to get the PS rendering engine to pay attention to the BoundingBox. I need the similar argument for rendering PDF's. I was not able to find it in docs (nor even the EPSCrop, actually).

• How to center an R plot

  I'm working on visualizing a matrix in R (almost exactly like http://reference.wolfram.com/mathematica/ref/MatrixPlot.html), and I've been using image(<matrix>,axes=FALSE) to draw the picture. However, I noticed that with the y-axis turned off, the plot isn't centered--the space is still there for the axis ticks + label. I can finagle some centering with par(oma=c(0,0,0,2.5)) but this seems inefficient and error-prone (if my matrix were to change dimensions/become non-square). Is there a better way to force the graphic to center? The right hand margin is significantly smaller than the left.

I was wondering if there was a way to fix this without hiding these elements with CSS.

• Alternative to Microsoft Agent / Fix for color issue?

  I've got an app that does Text-To-Speech; but I wanted to show an animated face/character to go with it. I found a tutorial on Microsoft Agent and I implemented it in my vb.net app. The problem is with the transparency color. Unless I run application in compatibility mode/256 colors, the characters will appear with a purplish-pink background image instead of a transparent back-color. But running the app in 256 colors the rest of the app looks awfully out of place. First - is there something that works similar to MS Agent I can use that would be more appropriate? Second - if I'm still MS Agent - can I get the transparent color to work correctly without limiting myself to 256 colors?

What I want is to change this default widget in order to generate forms with my custom Widget. I don't want to change by hand all the forms generated. I start with extract the image's RGB values, form a matrix of array and then attempt to compress the values using PCA, and then match/recognize it with a pre-set data to find its similarity. But I can't proceed with the PCA part. • Where are my $_FILES? Ajax Uploading

If I output print_r($_POST), the parameters are sent properly, but only the file name of the image. So it seems the files themselves are not being sent along. How do I handle this? Thanks Rich

• Jquery simplemodal close existing modal and open a new one?

  Alright, so all modals already have an image at the top right to close them. How can I make additionally another anchor to do the same thing? I thought I could use the "closeClass" option which default to "simplemodal-close" and just add that class to an anchor, but it didn't have the desired effect. Is that what I'm supposed to do? Also, all modals will have a "contact us" link which should close it's own modal and open the contact modal. How can I wait until it is closed to open the next one? • Sprite backgrounds

  I use cocos2d for iphone and in my game I'm using a sprite as static background image. I've noticed that when removing code for adding the sprite the framerate goes from ~30fps to over 40fps. Is it any other way to show a static background that is less expensive? I'm not moving the background sprite at all. • I want to version control my entire slice

  I'm renting a slice (i.e., a VPS) from Slicehost. I've a spent a day or two filling up /usr with my favorite packages, /etc with configs and init scripts, and so on. Now I want to: save this whole setup somewhere (e.g., to load onto another machine). see what changes I've made to which files revert changes, tag revisions, and all that other good version control stuff Saving a disk image gives me (1), but not (2) and (3). Using Subversion (svn import / svn://someotherhost) might give me all three, but I expect problems if I actually try to check a project out into / and maintain .svn directories in root-owned areas. And to load my setup onto a fresh slice, I'd need to install an svn client on it first. Is there a good way to do what I want to do?

  Hi, In my iPhone application I need to show a video image in UITableView. Each tableViewCell have video and some labels. I used the MPMoviePlayerController for showing video in full screen when the cell is selected. But, I am getting error that MPMoviePlayerController class is not there. I tried using UIWebView. But, I could not make it. How can I play a video, when the cell is selected. Some say that videos do not play in simulator. They only play when we test in device. Is it right ?   In my project, whenever a long process in being executed, a small form is displayed with a small animated gif file. I used this.Show() to open the form and this.Close() to close the form. • Dynamically creating a member ID card as pdf using PHP?

  I need to code a PHP script that would let me generate a pdf file which displays a member ID card (something like a credit card used to identify oneself) at a certain resolution. Let me explain: I do have the basic blueprint of the card in png file format. The script needs to drop in a member's name and birthday along with a serial. So far, no problem - there are plenty of good working PHP libraries out there. My problem is to ensure that the resulting pdf (the generated image of the card, to be precise) meets a certain resolution (preferably 300dpi), so that printing it would look right. Any ideas? • How do I create an 8-bit PNG with transparency from an NSBitmapImageRep?

  I have a 32-bit NSBitmapImageRep which has an alpha channel with essentially 1-bit values (the pixels are either on or off). I want to save this bitmap to an 8-bit PNG file with transparency. If I use the -representationUsingType:properties: method of NSBitmapImageRep and pass in NSPNGFileType, a 32-bit PNG is created, which is not what I want. I know that 8-bit PNGs can be read, they open in Preview with no problems, but is it possible to write this type of PNG file using any built-in Mac OS X APIs? I'm happy to drop down to Core Image or even QuickTime if necessary. A cursory examination of the CGImage docs didn't reveal anything obvious. EDIT: I've started a bounty on this question, if someone can provide working source code that takes a 32-bit NSBitmapImageRep and writes a 256-color PNG with 1-bit transparency, it's yours.
