  • LINQ Data Context Not Showing Methods

    - by CccTrash
    For some reason my DataContext is not showing all the normal methods like SubmitChanges() etc in the intellisense. It also won't compile if I type in db.SubmitChanges(); Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Normally I don't have this issue, I have several other projects that work fine... • How to query MySQL for exact length and exact UTF-8 characters

    - by oskarae
    I have table with words dictionary in my language (latvian). CREATE TABLE words ( value varchar(255) COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci DEFAULT NULL ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 COLLATE=utf8_unicode_ci; And let's say it has 3 words inside: INSERT INTO words (value) VALUES ('teja'); INSERT INTO words (value) VALUES ('vejš'); INSERT INTO words (value) VALUES ('feja'); What I want to do is I want to find all words that is exactly 4 characters long and where second character is 'e' and third character is 'j' For me it feels that correct query would be: SELECT * FROM words WHERE value LIKE '_ej_'; But problem with this query is that it returs not 2 entries ('teja','vejš') but all three. As I understand it is because internally MySQL converts strings to some ASCII representation? Then there is BINARY addition possible for LIKE SELECT * FROM words WHERE value LIKE BINARY '_ej_'; But this also does not return 2 entries ('teja','vejš') but only one ('teja'). I believe this has something to do with UTF-8 2 bytes for non ASCII chars? So question: What MySQL query would return my exact two words ('teja','vejš')? Thank you in advance

  • is there something analogous to Connect.registerUsers in the Graph API

    - by timpone
    I am trying to figure this out. Basically, I'd like to reconcile my local emails with a users list of friends. I can see after OAuth token is established that I can get a list of users friends via http://graph.facebook.com/me/friends Would the solution be to keep track of a list of users friends over time and then reconcile with our local ids (in other words, i can know my id) and then use the friends API call to see if your friends are the same in local db?

  • About to migrate :string but I'm thinking :text might be better. Performance/Purpose?

    - by Sam
    class CreateScrapes < ActiveRecord::Migration def self.up create_table :scrapes do |t| t.text :saved_characters t.text :sanitized_characters t.string :href t.timestamps end end def self.down drop_table :scrapes end end I'm about to rake db:migrate and I'm think about the attribute type if I should be using text or string. Since saved_characters and sanitized_characters will be arrays with thousands of unicode values, its basically comma delimited data, I'm not sure if `:text' is really the right way to go here. What would you do?

  • How can I update a record using a correlated subquery?

    - by froadie
    I have a function that accepts one parameter and returns a table/resultset. I want to set a field in a table to the first result of that recordset, passing in one of the table's other fields as the parameter. If that's too complicated in words, the query looks something like this: UPDATE myTable SET myField = (SELECT TOP 1 myFunctionField FROM fn_doSomething(myOtherField) WHERE someCondition = 'something') WHERE someOtherCondition = 'somethingElse' In this example, myField and myOtherField are fields in myTable, and myFunctionField is a field return by fn_doSomething. This seems logical to me, but I'm getting the following strange error: 'myOtherField' is not a recognized OPTIMIZER LOCK HINTS option. Any idea what I'm doing wrong, and how I can accomplish this? *UPDATE: * Based on Anil Soman's answer, I realized that the function is expecting a string parameter and the field being passed is an integer. I'm not sure if this should be a problem as an explicit call to the function using an integer value works - e.g. fn_doSomething(12345) seems to automatically cast the number to an string. However, I tried to do an explicit cast: UPDATE myTable SET myField = (SELECT TOP 1 myFunctionField FROM fn_doSomething(CAST(myOtherField AS varchar(1000))) WHERE someCondition = 'something') WHERE someOtherCondition = 'somethingElse' Now I'm getting the following error: Line 5: Incorrect syntax near '('.

  • How to populate a listview in ASP.NET 3.5 through a dataset?

    - by EasyDot
    Is it possible to populate a listview with a dataset? I have a function that returns a dataset. Why im asking this is because my SQL is quite complicated and i can't convert it to a SQLDataSource... Public Function getMessages() As DataSet Dim dSet As DataSet = New DataSet Dim da As SqlDataAdapter Dim cmd As SqlCommand Dim SQL As StringBuilder Dim connStr As StringBuilder = New StringBuilder("") connStr.AppendFormat("server={0};", ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings("USERserver").ToString()) connStr.AppendFormat("database={0};", ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings("USERdb").ToString()) connStr.AppendFormat("uid={0};", ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings("USERuid").ToString()) connStr.AppendFormat("pwd={0};", ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings("USERpwd").ToString()) Dim conn As SqlConnection = New SqlConnection(connStr.ToString()) Try SQL = New StringBuilder cmd = New SqlCommand SQL.Append("SELECT m.MESSAGE_ID, m.SYSTEM_ID, m.DATE_CREATED, m.EXPIRE_DATE, ISNULL(s.SYSTEM_DESC,'ALL SYSTEMS') AS SYSTEM_DESC, m.MESSAGE ") SQL.Append("FROM MESSAGE m ") SQL.Append("LEFT OUTER JOIN [SYSTEM] s ") SQL.Append("ON m.SYSTEM_ID = s.SYSTEM_ID ") SQL.AppendFormat("WHERE m.SYSTEM_ID IN ({0}) ", sSystems) SQL.Append("OR m.SYSTEM_ID is NULL ") SQL.Append("ORDER BY m.DATE_CREATED DESC; ") SQL.Append("SELECT mm.MESSAGE_ID, mm.MODEL_ID, m.MODEL_DESC ") SQL.Append("FROM MESSAGE_MODEL mm ") SQL.Append("JOIN MODEL m ") SQL.Append(" ON m.MODEL_ID = mm.MODEL_ID ") cmd.CommandText = SQL.ToString cmd.Connection = conn da = New SqlDataAdapter(cmd) da.Fill(dSet) dSet.Tables(0).TableName = "BASE" dSet.Tables(1).TableName = "MODEL" Return dSet Catch ev As Exception cLog.EventLog.logError(ev, cmd) Finally 'conn.Close() End Try End Function

  • VS2010 renders controls JS awkwardly

    - by Juergen Hoffmann
    I have created a Website Project in VS2010. My Controls are not rendered correctly. The JS that is produced is not correctly formatted. Here is an example: protected void Page_PreRender(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { objListBox.Attributes.Add("onchange", "Control_doPostBack('" + objListBox.ClientID + "','ListBox_OnClick'); return false;"); objListBox.Attributes.Add("onblur", "Control_doPostBack('" + trListbox.ClientID + "','ListBox_OnBlur'); return false;"); img.Attributes.Add("onclick", "Control_doPostBack('" + trListbox.ClientID + "','IMG_OnClick'); return false;"); } } and the responding control is rendered as: <select size="4" name="ctl00$PlaceHolder_Content$drop$objListBox" onchange="Control_doPostBack(&#39;PlaceHolder_Content_drop_objListBox&#39;,&#39;ListBox_OnClick&#39;); return false;setTimeout(&#39;__doPostBack(\&#39;ctl00$PlaceHolder_Content$drop$objListBox\&#39;,\&#39;\&#39;)&#39;, 0)" id="PlaceHolder_Content_drop_objListBox" onblur="Control_doPostBack(&#39;PlaceHolder_Content_drop_trListbox&#39;,&#39;ListBox_OnBlur&#39;); return false;" style="position:absolute;"> </select> As you can see, the ' are rendered to &#39 which screwes up the Browser. Is there a tweak to msbuild or inside the project properties? Any help is highly appreciated.

  • How to clean completly select2 control?

    - by Candil
    I'm working with the awesome select2 control. I'm trying to clean and disable the select2 with the content too so I do this: $("#select2id").empty(); $("#select2id").select2("disable"); Ok, it works, but if i had a value selected all the items are removed, the control is disabled, but the selected value is still displayed. I want to clear all content so the placeholder would be showed. Here is a example I did where you can see the issue: http://jsfiddle.net/BSEXM/ HTML: <select id="sel" data-placeholder="This is my placeholder"> <option></option> <option value="a">hello</option> <option value="b">all</option> <option value="c">stack</option> <option value="c">overflow</option> </select> <br> <button id="pres">Disable and clear</button> <button id="ena">Enable</button> Code: $(document).ready(function () { $("#sel").select2(); $("#pres").click(function () { $("#sel").empty(); $("#sel").select2("disable"); }); $("#ena").click(function () { $("#sel").select2("enable"); }); }); CSS: #sel { margin: 20px; } Do you have any idea or advice to this?

  • How to send check boxes ID in gridview in one string for mass update.

    - by SmartDev
    hi , I have a grid which has check boxes and when selecting the top chek box select all will select all the check box in gridview and would update .for this im using for loop where it exceutes every time and this is taking lot of time cuase there are more thn 100 records in grid . try { string StrOutputMessageDisplayDocReqCsu = string.Empty; string strid = string.Empty; string strflag = string.Empty; string strSelected = string.Empty; for (int j = 0; j < GdvDocReqMU.Rows.Count; j++) { CheckBox Chkupdate = (CheckBox)GdvDocReqMU.Rows[j].Cells[1].FindControl("chkDR"); if (Chkupdate != null) { if (Chkupdate.Checked) { strid = ((Label)GdvDocReqMU.Rows[j].FindControl("lblIDDocReqCsu")).Text; strflag = ((Label)GdvDocReqMU.Rows[j].FindControl("lblStatusDocReqCsu")).Text; cmd = new SqlCommand("sp_Update_v1", con); cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@id", strSelected); cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@flag", DdlStatusDocReqMU.SelectedValue); cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@notes", txtnotesDocReqMU.Text); cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@user", strUseridDRAhk); cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@message", SqlDbType.VarChar, 100, ParameterDirection.Output, false, 0, 50, "message", DataRowVersion.Default, null)); cmd.UpdatedRowSource = UpdateRowSource.OutputParameters; con.Open(); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); con.Close(); } } } //} //StrOutputMessageDisplayDocReqCsu += (string)cmd.Parameters["@message"].Value + "<br/>"; //lbldbmessDocReqAhk.Text += StrOutputMessageDisplayDocReqCsu + "<br>"; GetgridDocReq(); } catch (Exception ex) { lbldbmessDocReqAhk.Text = ex.Message.ToString(); }

  • What's the most DRY-appropriate way to execute an SQL command?

    - by Sean U
    I'm looking to figure out the best way to execute a database query using the least amount of boilerplate code. The method suggested in the SqlCommand documentation: private static void ReadOrderData(string connectionString) { string queryString = "SELECT OrderID, CustomerID FROM dbo.Orders;"; using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(connectionString)) { SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(queryString, connection); connection.Open(); SqlDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader(); try { while (reader.Read()) { Console.WriteLine(String.Format("{0}, {1}", reader[0], reader[1])); } } finally { reader.Close(); } } } mostly consists of code that would have to be repeated in every method that interacts with the database. I'm already in the habit of factoring out the establishment of a connection, which would yield code more like the following. (I'm also modifying it so that it returns data, in order to make the example a bit less trivial.) private SQLConnection CreateConnection() { var connection = new SqlConnection(_connectionString); connection.Open(); return connection; } private List<int> ReadOrderData() { using(var connection = CreateConnection()) using(var command = connection.CreateCommand()) { command.CommandText = "SELECT OrderID FROM dbo.Orders;"; using(var reader = command.ExecuteReader()) { var results = new List<int>(); while(reader.Read()) results.Add(reader.GetInt32(0)); return results; } } } That's an improvement, but there's still enough boilerplate to nag at me. Can this be reduced further? In particular, I'd like to do something about the first two lines of the procedure. I don't feel like the method should be in charge of creating the SqlCommand. It's a tiny piece of repetition as it is in the example, but it seems to grow if transactions are being managed manually or timeouts are being altered or anything like that.

  • Delete last line in txt file

    - by user3658127
    I wrote a foreach loop for my datagridview to write all rows to txt file. I have a problem as it adds 2 empty lines at the end, as 1 row is full of empty cells after adding/reading to datagrid view. Is there any way to omit the last line or delete it in txt? foreach (DataGridViewRow item in this.DB.Rows) { foreach (DataGridViewCell item2 in item.Cells) { if(item2.Value != null) filewrite.Write(item2.Value.ToString() + " "); } filewrite.WriteLine(""); }

  • formtastic weird month name display

    - by Alexey Poimtsev
    Hi, i'm using formtastic, all is ok, but strange thing - on = form.input :birthdate, :as => :date it renders to something like <li><label for="profile_birthdate_2i">Month</label><select id="profile_birthdate_2i" name="profile[birthdate(2i)]"> <option value="1">114</option> <option value="2">97</option> <option value="3">110</option> <option value="4">115</option> <option value="5">108</option> <option value="6">97</option> <option value="7">116</option> <option value="8">105</option> <option value="9">111</option> <option value="10">110</option> <option value="11">32</option> <option value="12">109</option> </select> but if i'm using in semantic_form something like = form.datetime_select :birthdate it renders correctly. I've found information, that it may be caused by locale file with no translations for month names, but its so strange - why rails helpers renders month names ok, but formtastic - not :( any ideas?
