• What frameworks should we consider for a custom web application?

  A client is looking for a custom web application, which will eventually include lots of interconnected components, but the main features are: Subscription based membership as well as virtual/digital product sales Members have their own public web cookie-cutter directories (e.g., storefronts, pages, etc.) and personal member admin area. Site administrators will need both common tools (member admin, password changes, etc.) and custom tools that can be readily developed or integrated with 3rd party solutions. What frameworks should we be looking at? PHP/MySQL is preferable unless something really outstanding is available in another stack.

• What is the best to format messages for queueing?

  I've been reading up on message queueing lately, and I'd like to implement a simple, extendable, system for my app. While there's a lot of good information on the subject of setting up a MQ system out there, I can't find a lot about the actual implementation. I'm looking for patterns and best practices on how to properly format messages for a queue, and ways to execute the jobs in PHP. Should I use JSON, serialized objects, text, URLs or XML? What information should I send? Is a worker with a switch($job['command']) {} (or something like that) the way to go, or are there any established patterns out there to implement a worker? Help greatly appreciated!

• Display calculating result in the same page

  Hello, I have a table in my php code. In the second column of the table, normally it displays "---", and after i click the submit button, it will display the calculating result in the same page. For example, <table> <tr><td>1</td><td>---</td></tr> <tr><td>2</td><td>---</td></tr> <tr><td>3</td><td>---</td></tr> </table> And in the same page, it should receive the variables $var1 = $_POST['variable1']; I'm not sure which way to use, ajax or javascript or just css?   When users edit their account, I want to display a confirmation page that shows their updated information with the fields that they changed in bold. Is there a mysql statement that allows you to select the fields that a user changes? • Hudson: where to download file and stop specific builds running ?

  I have a file that is generated inside (hudson server) /var/lib/hudson/jobs/jobtitle/1/out.txt I need to fetch this file, but doing a GET request for http://myhudson:8090/job/jobtitle/1/out.txt doesn't actually locate the file. Basically, I have another box that will grab this file from the hudson server. This box will make the out.txt file available for download. Another challenge is the build number directories. How would I be able to use the hudson API to stop or delete the specific builds running ? I am forced to do iterate through all build numbers to send STOP or DELETE api call in php using wget to do the REST API call.   Hello I'm trying to teach myself Drupal and I've found something I can't find any tutorials for. I am trying to generate a form, with a dynamic number of text fields, to populate and edit the contents of my custom table. • Push a variable into global scope?

  We use instantiate and put system critical objects in $GLOBALS for easy access from anywhere (e.g. DB, Cache, User, etc.). We use $GLOBALS so much that it would (yes, really) drop the amount of code quite a bit if I could reference it like $G = &$GLOBALS for a shorthand call. The problem is that, per my experience and several hours of Googling, I have not found any construct in PHP which allows you to 'flag' a var as global, making $GLOBALS first class, and everything else second class. Am I missing something? Is this possible?

  Hi, i have tried offset in simpledb but its not working as it working in mysql , and i want to do paging for my database api in php so that i send the pagenumber and pagelength to the query and it will return the data of that page only. How this i can do in simpledb. select * from second where time_stamp is not null and gibid = '54' and gibview = 'O' order by time_stamp asc limit $pagelength as offset is not working so i can't add offset in query. I have google and find there is next token is returned but i am not getting nexttoken. how to check for nexttoken. Please help . Thanks

• Turkish characters are not displayed correctly

For example /news?c=123 For some reason, it works only on the website root www.example.com?c=123 but it does not work if the url contains any more information www.example.com/news?c=123.   I'm really not confident with Regex, I know some basic syntax but not enough to keep me happy. I'm trying to build a regular expression to check if an email is valid. So far here's what I've got: [A-Za-z0-9._-]+@[A-Za-z0-9]+.[A-Za-z.]+ It needs to take account of periods in the username/domain and I think it works with multiple TLDs (e.g. co.uk). I'm working with the preg engine in PHP so it needs to work with that. Thanks if you can help!

• How can I sqldump a huge database?

  SELECT count(*) from table gives me 3296869 rows. The table only contains 4 columns, storing dropped domains. I tried to dump the sql through: $backupFile = $dbname . date("Y-m-d-H-i-s") . '.gz'; $command = "mysqldump --opt -h $dbhost -u $dbuser -p $dbpass $dbname | gzip > $backupFile"; However, this just dumps an empty 20 KB gzipped file. My client is using shared hosting so the server specs and resource usage aren't top of the line. I'm not even given ssh access or access directly to the database so I have to make queries through PHP scripts I upload via FTP ( SFTP isn't an option, again ). Is there some way I can perhaps sequentially download portions of it, or pass an argument to mysqldump that will optimize it? I came across http://jeremy.zawodny.com/blog/archives/000690.html which mentions the -q flag and tried that but it didn't seem to do anything differently.

  I have this string in PHP Hopelessly Incredible |SPG:M| 766 STEAM_0:1:20130600 " banned "A Blatantly Obvious Hacker 740 STEAM_0:1:55386073 " (minutes "0") (reason "Multi-Hack") The Format of the string is: Name1 Number(0-3 digits) Steam_0:x:xxxx offense (banned/kicked/mute etc) Name2 Number(0-3 digits) Steam_0:x:xxxx time reason My goal is to remove the values 766 and 740 because it is just garbage. Those values can have single, double, and triple digits. The next step would be to strip STEAM_0:1:20130600 and STEAM_0:1:55386073 out of the string and capture it in a new variable. The only constant is STEAM_0: the rest can change. I am still learning regex but I fear this is a bit complicated for me to do. Some guidance would be most appreciative.

How do i approach this, cookies? phpbb doesnt seem to use cookies for this, not very a good idea do have a cookie for each post... maybe use css visited attribute? but i dont see how would that work if a new post pops up.   Today, I went for an interview and the interviewer asked me how I would find the index of a given value (number) in a pre-sorted array like this: $preSortedArr=array(23,32,36,41,45,54); He also said that using recursion is not allowed.   I'm currently using the magento admin interface, trying to upload an image in the "manage products" and I get the error "file was not uploaded" after I browse the file and click "upload file". I've looked on other forums and the main solution I saw were to make sure that php.ini has the following lines... magic_quotes_gpc = off short_open_tag = on extension=pdo.so extension=pdo_mysql.so I have Windows/IIS with ISAPI_Rewrite. Is there a max file upload size that I can change somewhere. I'm uploading pictures from my local desktop of size ~100kb. help!

  hi, right now, i code custom wordpress theme and testing it in xampp windows XP on apache server. But as long as i concern, there's no wp build-in function to identify the code environment. Is there's any PHP build-in function to identify such thing ? for the record, what i want to code need to read a directory. in my apache (in windows), the path will be c:/xampp/htdocs where apache on linux will be \somepath\somepath\ so, is there any code solution to know what is the OS environment without i have to compare the path ? i hope it will also work on other OS with other webserver then APACHE such as IIS
