  • Issues using $.ajax

    - by Nimbuz
I want to load the lightbox javascript only when a certain condition is satisfied so I'm loading it using $.ajax like so: $.ajax({ url: "../static/js/lightbox.js", dataType: 'script', cache: true, success: function() { alert('loaded'); $("a.lightbox").lightbox({ opacity: "0.6", width: "940" }); }}); I see the "loaded" alert but the lightbox does not work. However, when I load the file directly (script src) from the HTML, lightbox works. How do I fix this? Many thanks for your help.

  • How to print a var inside a script

    - by Pollux Khafra
    Alright I'm trying to use a jplayer script to trigger the player in my template. I need to pass a value to the "mp3" option but I don't get how I get $music to print. $(document).ready(function(){ $("#jquery_jplayer_1").jPlayer({ ready: function () { $(this).jPlayer("setMedia", { var music = $(".album-playlist li").first().find("input").val(); mp3: $music, }).jPlayer(""); }, swfPath: "http://mysite.com/wp-content/themes/beta/libs", supplied: "mp3" }); });

  • Getting the highlighted text inside selected element only.

    - by ashays
My goal is to be able to get the highlighted text within a document, but only if that text is within a given section, and then apply a certain style to that selected text after clicking a div tag. I'll explain what I mean: So, having looked at window.getSelection() and document.selection.createRange().text, I attempted to use elmnt.getSelection() or elmnt.selection.createRange().text for some HTML element, elmnt. However, it doesn't seem to work, so that idea seems pretty null. This means I can't use this idea to determine the text that is highlighted within a given location. In case this doesn't make sense, essentially, I want html code that looks like this: <body> <div id="content">Stuff here will not be effected</div> <div id="highlightable">Stuff here can be effected when highlighted</div> <div id="morecontent">Stuff here will also not be effected</div> </body> So that whenever I've highlighted text, clicking on a specified div will apply the proper CSS. Now, on to the div tags. Basically, here's what I've got on that: $('.colorpicker').click( function(e) { console.log(getSelectedText()); } Eventually, all I want this to highlight the selected text and have the div tag change the color of the selected text to that of the respective div tag that I've selected. Neither of these seems to be working right now, and my only guess for the reason of the div tag is that it unhighlights whatever I've got selected whenever I click on the div tag. Fallbacks: If there is more than one time that 'abc' is found on the page and I highlight to color 'abc', I would like that only that copy of 'abc' be highlighted. I know this is a lot in one question, but even if I could get a little head start on this idea, my next personal project would be going a lot more smoothly. Thanks. :)

  • Checking for Value in JS Object

    - by pagewil
    I have a JS Object like so: var ob{ 1 : { id:101, name:'john', email:'[email protected]' }, 2 : { id:102, name:'jim', email:'[email protected]' }, 3 : { id:103, name:'bob', email:'[email protected]' }, } I want to check if this JS object already contains a record. If it doesn't then I want to add it. For example. if(ob contains an id of 101){ //don't add john }else{ //add john } Catch my drift? Pretty simple question. I just want to know the best way of doing it. Thanks Guys! W.

  • How to select the first property with unknown name and first item from array in JSON

    - by Oscar Godson
    I actually have two questions, both are probably simple, but for some odd reason I cant figure it out... I've worked with JSON 100s of times before too! but here is the JSON in question: {"69256":{ "streaminfo":{ "stream_ID":"1025", "sourceowner_ID":"2", "sourceowner_avatar":"http:\/\/content.nozzlmedia.com\/images\/sourceowner_avatar2.jpg", "sourceownertype_ID":"1", "stream_name":"Twitter", "streamtype":"Social media" "appsarray":[] }, "item":{ "headline":"Charboy", "main_image":"http:\/\/content.nozzlmedia.com\/images\/author_avatar173212.jpg", "summary":"ate a tomato and avocado for dinner...", "nozzl_captured":"2010-05-12 23:02:12", "geoarray":[{ "state":"OR", "county":"Multnomah", "city":"Portland", "neighborhood":"Downtown", "zip":"97205", "street":"462 SW 11th Ave", "latitude":"45.5219", "longitude":"-122.682" }], "full_content":"ate a tomato and avocado for dinner tonight. such tasty foods. just enjoyable.", "body_text":"ate a tomato and avocado for dinner tonight. such tasty foods. just enjoyable.", "author_name":"Charboy", "author_avatar":"http:\/\/content.nozzlmedia.com\/images\/author_avatar173212.jpg", "fulltext_url":"http:\/\/twitter.com\/charboy\/statuses\/13889868936", "leftovers":{ "twitter_id":"tag:search.twitter.com,2005:13889868936", "date":"2010-05-13T02:59:59Z", "location":"iPhone: 45.521866,-122.682262" }, "wordarray":{ "0":"ate", "1":"tomato", "2":"avocado", "3":"dinner", "4":"tonight", "5":"tasty", "6":"foods", "7":"just", "8":"enjoyable", "9":"Charboy", "11":"Twitter", "13":"state:OR", "14":"county:Multnomah, OR", "15":"city:Portland, OR", "16":"neighborhood:Downtown", "17":"zip:97205" } } } } Question 1: How do I loop through each item (69256) when the number is random? e.g. item 1 is 123, item2 is 646? Like, for example, a normal JSON feed would have something like: {'item':{'blah':'lorem'},'item':{'blah':'ipsum'}} the JS would be like console.log(item.blah) to return lorem then ipsum in a loop How do I do it when i dont know the first item of the object? Question 2: How do I select items from the geoarray object? I tried: json.test.item.geoarray.latitude and json.test.item.geoarray['latitude']

  • Multi-accordion help (CSS issue maybe?)

    - by Josh
So, I've been trying to develop this multi-accordion news section for this site. It's actually all working, thanks to an insightful plugin. I've modified it a little bit so it works as I want it to, but I've run into two issues, one which is possibly CSS. Issue #1: The idea for the user is that when they view this page, they see all the recent headlines. They can also see who it has been posted by and how many comments have been made to this article. If they wish, they can then click on the headline and the field will expand into the article. They can then either make a comment or view the comments via clicking the View Comments link or clicking the "number of comments" link in the "Posted by..." area (a shortcut to the comments basically). The problem I'm having is if I make the AUTHOR or the "0" comments a link, it breaks the accordion because the accordion uses an A CLASS to open it up. I'm looking for a fix, I've tried making it a H1 or a DIV but that also breaks it. Issue #2: This is a pretty picky one, but when you click the headline it expands, but at least in Firefox (haven't tested it in Chrome yet) the text jumps from the right and to the left, locking in place from which the CSS tells it to (padding-left). I don't know why it's exactly doing that, if anyone has any insight on that, it'd be appreciated. A two-parter to this issue is when you open the Headline to the article and then decide to close the article by clicking on the Headline, parts of the accordion jumps from the darker purple to the light purple before the task is finished. I'm also interested fixing this, but this issue in its entirety are all pretty nit picky things. You can view the demo of the site here: http://www.notedls.com/demo Please if anyone has any advice or fixes, I'd appreciate it, I've been trying to get this all to work to the best of my ability, but I'm clearly no guru or expert. Thanks!

  • jq div display script webkit issues

    - by Tom
$(document).ready(function() { $('#chekboxes a').click(function(e) { $('.visible').removeClass('visible').addClass('invisible'); var thediv = $(this).attr('href'); $(thediv).removeClass('invisible').addClass('visible'); }) }); This simple bit of jq works in FF and not in Chrome and Safari. Despite googling widely, I cannot tell whether there's a way to make it work in Safari and Chrome or not. Does anyone know a fix or what is wrong ? Thanks, Tom

  • Horizontal sliding doors (improve).

    - by Kalinin
I have script: http://jsfiddle.net/NV2uV/ It works, but I do not like. Cons: Wrench (edge blocks). In the transition from one unit to another - animation is performed in two steps (I want a continuous animation). Script code is not beautiful, very much repetition. In short - it looks not nice. How to improve the script to look at the animation and it was good fo eyes (if you have ready-made solutions - please note me). Update: If you set the animation smaller - that animation looks quite nice.

  • How do I include 2 tables in one LocalStorage item?

    - by Noor
I've got a table that you can edit, and I've got a simple code saving that list when you're done with editing it. (the tables have the contenteditable on) The problem I've stumbled upon is that if I double click on enter, the table gets divided into two separate tables with the same ID. This causes the code I'm using to set the localStorage to only store one of the tables (I assume the first).. I've thought of different solutions and I wonder if someone could point out the pro's and con's (if the solutions even works that is). Make a loop that checks the page after tables and stores them into an array of localStorage-items.. I'd have to dynamically create a localStorage item for each table. Take the whole div that the tables are in, and store that in the localStorage, when a user revisits the page, the page checks after the items in storage and displays the whole divs. Any suggestions you have that can beat this :).. (but no cache, it has to be with the localStorage!) Thanks

  • Remove innerHTML from div

    - by coffeeaddict
    I'm trying to clear the div's innerHTML before repopulating it. I tried removeData() but once that's called, when I try to add the data, I get nothing from the next line after remove whereas if I remove the removeData() it's fine again. I just want to clear out any previous content in that div before I re-populate it. divToUpdate.removeData(); //clean out any existing innerHTML div content first divToUpdate.html(data); It looks like it never gets to my divToUpdate.html(data) for some reason after it calls that removeData();

  • Increase width of divs, displayed side by side, using draggable events

    - by Vaibhav Shukla
I have two divs of fixed length as of now, which loads external URL by dynamically embedding iframes inside them. Divs are appearing next to each other - one on left and other right. As of now, I have fixed their width to 50% each. But, I want to give user a flexibility to increase the width of any div to view the URL inside easily without scrolling horizontally. Something like dragging the border separating the two divs to either left or right according to his need. Is there a way I could achieve this? Please suggest any library or something. I have gone through a library twentytwenty which is used for images. I don't know how will that work for dynamic iframes. Here is the JSFiddle which displays the divs. <div> <div id="originalPage" style="width:54%;height: 730px;float:left"> <p>one div </p> </div> <div id="diffReport" style="width:45%; height: 730px;float:right"> <p>another div</p> </div> </div>

  • Preserving CSS styles with Javascript

    - by Eber Freitas Dias
Hey guys, I have a web service where people can edit their pages CSS, but I have a bar on the footer of that page that I want to make consistend on every page... People are, right now, able to "remove" it with CSS and I really didn't want to go and parse the CSS to remove rules related to that bar... Is there a way to preserve the styles or re-aply them after load to keep the bar always visible? Thanks in advanced!

  • Google Maps: How does Trulia create their custom InfoWIndows?

    - by NickT
I really like how Trulia.com has created their custom Google Map InfoWindows. What I like in particular about Trulia's implementation of the InfoWindow is: Extends beyond the map border: Google Maps InfoWindows are contained within the map border whereas Trulia's seems to be able to float on-top of the map Always displays InfoWindow near map Center: Google Maps InfoWindows always display the InfoWindow above the marker whereas Trulia InfoWindows always display the InfoWindow as close the center of the map as possible. For example, if the map marker icon is on the top of the map near the border, the Trulia InfoWindow is displayed below the map marker icon InfoWindow is displayed on mouse hover (not 'click'): With the default Google Maps InfoWindow, you have to 'click' the map marker icon to display the InfoWindow whereas Trulia InfoWindows are display simply by hovering over the map marker icon. I found the PdMarker, which is a 3rd party extension for Google Map InfoWindows that accomplishes most of the above bullets but not all. 1) It does not extend beyond the map border, 2) it does not work with Google Maps API version 3 (only version 2). Anyone know how Trulia is accomplishing their InfoWindow-like implementation on Google Maps API v3?

  • Should I unit test my JavaScript?

    - by Joseph Silvashy
I'm curious to if it would be valuable, I'd like to start using QUnit, but I really don't know where to get started. Actually I'm not going to lie, I'm new to testing in general, not just with JS. I'm hoping to get some tips to how I would start using unit testing with an app that already has a large amount of JavaScript (ok so about 500 lines, not huge, be enough to make me wonder if I have regression that goes unnoticed). How would you recommend getting started and Where would I write my tests? (for example its rails app, where is a logical place to have my JS tests, it would be cool if they could go in the /test directory but it's outside the public directory and thus not possible... err is it?)
