  • Best Practice: User generated HTML cleaning

    - by Martin
I'm coding a WYSIWYG editor width designMode="on" on a iframe. The editor works fine and i store the code as is in the database. Before outputing the html i need to "clean" with php on the server-side to avoid cross-site-scripting and other scary things. Is there some sort of best practice on how to do this? What tags can be dangerous? UPDATE: Typo fixed, it's What You See Is What You Get. Nothing new :)

  • Getting $_POST variable from table

    - by Sakamoto Kazuma
I'm trying to build a sort of resource allocation form. I'd like to be able to print a table from a database, and then allow users to click on each cell that they would like to reserve. Also, being able to drag and select multiple cells. Then send all of this via $_POST to another php script. Problem is, I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions?

  • Function that converts hex color values to an approximate color name?

    - by dclowd9901
I don't suppose anyone knows of a function (PHP, preferably) that can take a hex color code and give an approximate color name for that hex value. I don't need a solution with 100s of colors. Even if it just amounted to the colors white, black, red, green blue, brown orange and yellow, I'd be pretty well in shape. If you don't know of an existing resource, does anyone know of a good way to approach this problem? Thanks in advance for the help.

  • What is the best IDE to use with the Symfony framework?

    - by Failpunk
I'm looking for an IDE with use with the Symfony Framework. I have a bit of experience using the NetBeans 6.5 IDE but it does not always seem to complete the class methods, plus it doesn't seem to have any PHP code snippets built in. Here are the features I would ideally like to have, in order of importance, from an IDE: Code completion of all the Symfony and Propel class methods (I can never remember them) Code templates,(class skeletons, HTML structures, Symfony templates?) Straight-forward code debugging Source Control

  • nginx and trailing slashes on $document_root?

    - by shadowhand
I use the following configuration for nginx: http://gist.github.com/340956 However, this configuration causes a No input file specified error with PHP. The only way I have been able to solve it is by altering this line: fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root/$fastcgi_script_name; Note the "/" between $document_root and $fastcgi_script_name. I was informed that this is the wrong configuration but no one has been able to tell me exactly why my configuration requires this extra slash. How can I get rid of that extra slash?

  • How to search a MySQL database for a specific string

    - by Nadia
I am trying to set up a search feature on my site that will only return exact matches to keyword entered by the user. So if the user searches "dog" I don't want an article titled "Doggy Style" to appear in the search results (just an example I don't really have an article by that name). This of course does exactly that: SELECT * FROM articles WHERE article_title LIKE '%$searchQuery%' $searchQuery here is a PHP variable taken from the user's input form. So is there any way to return only exact matches?

  • What would you do to make this code more "over-engineered"? [closed]

    - by Mez
    A friend and I got bored, and, long story short, decided to make an over-engineered FizzBuzz in PHP <?php interface INumber { public function go(); public function setNumber($i); } class FBNumber implements INumber { private $value; private $fizz; private $buzz; public function __construct($fizz = 3 , $buzz = 5) { $this->setFizz($fizz); $this->setBuzz($buzz); } public function setNumber($i) { if(is_int($i)) { $this->value = $i; } } private function setFizz($i) { if(is_int($i)) { $this->fizz = $i; } } private function setBuzz($i) { if(is_int($i)) { $this->buzz = $i; } } private function isFizz() { return ($this->value % $this->fizz == 0); } private function isBuzz() { return ($this->value % $this->buzz == 0); } private function isNeither() { return (!$this->isBuzz() AND !$this->isFizz()); } private function isFizzBuzz() { return ($this->isFizz() OR $this->isBuzz()); } private function fizz() { if ($this->isFizz()) { return "Fizz"; } } private function buzz() { if ($this->isBuzz()) { return "Buzz"; } } private function number() { if ($this->isNeither()) { return $this->value; } } public function go() { return $this->fizz() . $this->buzz() . $this->number(); } } class FizzBuzz { private $limit; private $number_class; private $numbers = array(); function __construct(INumber $number_class, $limit = 100) { $this->number_class = $number_class; $this->limit = $limit; } private function collectNumbers() { for ($i=1; $i <= $this->limit; $i++) { $n = clone($this->number_class); $n->setNumber($i); $this->numbers[$i] = $n->go(); unset($n); } } private function printNumbers() { $return = ''; foreach($this->numbers as $number){ $return .= $number . "\n"; } return $return; } public function go() { $this->collectNumbers(); return $this->printNumbers(); } } $fb = new FizzBuzz(new FBNumber()); echo $fb->go(); In theory, what could we/would you do to make it even more "over-engineered"?

  • Unexpected tag T_ECHO in inline if

    - by Lombo
I have something like this in one of my views <li <?php $isCurrent ? echo 'class="current"' : ''?> > <a href="SOME_LINK" class="SOME_CLASS">SOME_TEXT</a> </li> This causes a syntax error, unexpected T_ECHO. Changing echo for print solves the issue, but I would like to understand why I cannot use echo.

  • PHPUnit not working with netbeans 7.2.1

    - by user1578653
I have just upgraded to netbeans 7.2.1 and phpunit is not working. I get the error:- Cannot run program C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.5\PEAR\phpunit-skelgen": CreateProcess error=193, %1 is not a valid Win32 application" when I try to generate PHPUnit tests. The only thing I can think of is that I seem to have a 64 bit version of netbeans installed - could this be the problem? If so, can anyone point me to a 32 bit version, because I couldn't see one on the website?

  • Joomla execute script when timeout?

    - by Romain
My question may be a noob one but: I want to execute a php script when a user timeout. The only way I found to do so is to make the server execute a script every second or minute for instance, get the last activity of every user and execute a script when the last activity is older than (now() - timeout). is this the appropriate solution? Is this will slow the website significantly? Many thanks in advance!
