What is the point of Java’s package naming convention?
What package name to choose for a small, open-source Java project?
I write Java (and derivative languages with package names) for personal use, but I don't have a personal domain name, so the standard packaging naming convention doesn't hold. Since the same convention is used in Maven group-id's, the problem is the same there.
What should I use for the root of my package name?

I manually installed ircd-hybrid via it's source, got it up and running perfectly, but was unable to get a init.d script working. So I backed up the config file, removed it and grabbed it from the repository, planning to just copy over the config file and have everything working.
The version from the repository seems to be and older version that the one I grabbed from the official ircd-hybrid website, with slightly different config files.
Can someone tell me how often the repositories are updated for third party software?

Are there any ad networks that give publishers/websites the ability to display adverts that are chosen by the publisher immediately on page load. Lets say the page loads, and a script inserts certain key words that the ad network uses to search their inventory of adverts and assigns the nearest one with matching tags to the publisher advert area?
I know Google's adsense and many other similar services index/reads the pages content and then assign certain advert depending on the content with little or no control by the publisher...

Just wondering, assuming no security issues, that is, you're in total control of the command passed to exec(), is there a difference (in terms of speed or standards) between using exec() vs native PHP?
Example just to name a few use cases:
Using the DirectoryIterator vs exec(ls -1, $output), to list all files.
List 100 files from the 99th file onwards (that is, file 100 to 199)
Count total number of files in directory.

PHP technology has been around for at least a dozen of years. Since its inception, PHP has been steadily gaining momentum as a "defacto" platform for open-source web development. Lately, however, a host of new web development tools like Ruby on Rails came on the market, which raised questions whether PHP will remain viable as a web development tool. I believe PHP will not only remain, but continue evolving as the preferred platform for years to come.
Nowadays, in order to successfully manage various and complex projects, a project owner has access to a multitude of web based software covering key areas of focus such as scheduling, cost control, budget management, resource allocation, documentation and communication. Managing projects becomes time and resource saving also maximizing collaboration between team members that, in certain situations must stay connected to the partial outcomes.
