  • how to use javascript to download a file on Chrome without Chrome auto renaming file to "download"? [duplicate]

    - by user3688566
    This question already has an answer here: Is there any way to specify a suggested filename when using data: URI? 11 answers I use javascript to generate a file and download. It seems that depending on the version of chrome, the download file names can be auto renamed to 'download'. is there a way to avoid it? this is my code: var link = document.createElement("a"); link.setAttribute("href", 'data:application/octet-stream,' + 'file content here'); link.setAttribute("download", 'file1.txt'); link.click(); This is not a duplicated question because i am using the latest chrome and the previously suggested hyperlink is exactly what i am using. I think chrome v34 works fine. but once my chrome autoupdated to v35, it went back to 'download' file name.

  • Update (ajax) only part of table without affecting whole table

    - by ile
    <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" class="list"> <tr> <th><a href="#" class="sortby">Full Name</a></th> <th><a href="#" class="sortby">City</a></th> <th><a href="#" class="sortby">Country</a></th> <th><a href="#" class="sortby">Status</a></th> <th><a href="#" class="sortby">Education</a></th> <th><a href="#" class="sortby">Tasks</a></th> </tr> <div class="dynamicData"> <tr> <td>Firstname Lastname</a></td> <td>Los Angeles</td> <td>USA</td> <td>Married</td> <td>High School</td> <td>4</td> </tr> </tr> <tr> <td>Firstname Lastname</a></td> <td>Los Angeles</td> <td>USA</td> <td>Married</td> <td>High School</td> <td>4</td> </tr> </div> </table> The idea is to update table rows when clicking on link with clasl "sortby" which is part of th table tag. I tried inserting div but this doesn't work. Separating this in two tables is not good solution because witdh in both tables cell are not following each other. Any other solution? Thanks

  • jQuery: Toggling an image when toggling a DIV

    - by Wanda
    Hey guys, I'm trying to write some jQuery that will toggle DIVs open and closed, and it's working, but I want an arrow that will change to "down" if the DIV is expanded, and "right" if the DIV is collapsed. What I have so far: $('.toggleHead').click(function() { $('#arrow').attr('src', 'images/icons/down.png'); $(this).next().toggle(); return false; }).next().hide(); Where would I put the other $('#arrow').attr('src', 'images/icons/right.png');? Thanks!

  • Fade portfolio image on hover to reveal a magnifying glass or plus sign etc?

    - by ade123
    Hi, I've seen an interesting image hover effect being used a lot lately and was wondering whether anyone has any tips or advice on how best to create this effect? What I'd like to create is a hover effect, so that when you hover over an image, the image fades and a magnifying glass or similar icon fades in. Highlighting the fact that if you click the image, it will enlarge etc. Here is a nice example of the effect: http://themes.mysitemyway.com/infocus/gallery/portfolio/ Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to clear a textbox based on a checkbox using Javascript

    - by LoftyWofty
    I am trying to code in javascript (to avoid validation triggers at the server) to clear a text box if the checkbox associated with it is unchecked. I have this code ... <input type="checkbox" id="chkOTHER" onclick="document.getElementById('txtOtherFlag').value='';" /> <asp:TextBox ID="txtOtherFlag" runat="server" AutoPostBack="True" CausesValidation="True" ValidationGroup="ValidationGroup1"></asp:TextBox> The problem is the Javascript inside the checkbox is not triggering to remove the value in the text box. Even if this worked, it's incorrect as it would blank out the text box every time the checkbox is triggered whether it is checked or not. I need to resolve this in the client side only. Thank you

  • Best way to save info in hash

    - by qwertymk
    I have a webpage that the user inputs data into a textarea and then process and display it with some javascript. For example if the user types: _Hello_ *World* it would do something like: <underline>Hello</underline> <b>World</b> Or something like that, the details aren't important. Now the user can "save" the page to make it something like site.com/page#_Hello_%20*World* and share that link with others. My question is: Is this the best way to do this? Is there a limit on a url that I should be worried about? Should I do something like what jsfiddle does? I would prefer not to as the site would work offline if the full text would be in the hash, and as the nature of the site is to be used offline, the user would have to first cache the jsfiddle-like hash before they could use it. What's the best way to do this?

  • How to get four following text inputs after each checkbox?

    - by Richard Knop
    I am traversing checkboxes like this: $('.day').each(function() { // here I need to get the following 4 text inputs in the HTML // and set some attributes on them }); After every checkbox there are four text input fields (there are also some div, span tags for CSS around them). So inside the loop above I need to get four text input fields that follow the checkbox in the HTML source so I can set some attributes on them. How would I go about that?

  • How come $(this) is undefined after ajax call

    - by JohnnyQ
    I am doing an ajax request when an anchor tag is clicked with an ID set to href. Btw, this anchor tag is dynamically created. <a href="983" class="commentDeleteLink">delete</a> When the anchor tag is clicked the following code is executed: $('.commentDeleteLink').live('click', function(event) { event.preventDefault(); var result = confirm('Proceed?'); if ( result ) { $.ajax({ url: window.config.AJAX_REQUEST, type: "POST", data: { action : 'DELCOMMENT', comment : $('#commentText').val(), comment_id : $(this).attr('href') }, success: function(result) { alert($(this).attr('href')); //$(this).fadeOut(slow); } }); } }); When I tried to display $(this).attr('href') it says it's "undefined". What I really want to do is fadeOut the anchor tag but when I investigated the value of $(this) it is "undefined". What could be wrong with the snippet above?

  • How to add a checkbox for each row in Rails 3.2 index page?

    - by user938363
    We would like to add a checkbox to each row on Rails index page to flag for the row. This checkbox is not part of the object (no checkbox boolean in database). When the index page shows, a user can check the box to trigger an event for the row in following process: #objects/checkbox_index.html.erb <table> <tr> <th>CheckBox</th> <th>Object Name</th> <th>Object ID</th> </tr> <%= @objects.each do |obj| %> <tr> <td><%= checkbox %></td> <td><%= obj.name %></td> <td><%= obj.id %></td> </tr> <% end %> </table> In controller, the process will be like this: @objects.each do |obj| some_event if obj.checked end There are a couple of questions we don't quite understand: 1. How to declare an array checkbox variable on the form and link it to each row of obj? We have been using `attr_accessor` to declare var for a form. 2. How to retrieve each row on checkbox_index form and pass them back to controller? We are using simple_form for new/edit. Can anyone point me towards any good examples of this sort of behavior, or suggest what we should be thinking about? Many Thanks.

  • Removing object/array difference from different arrays [duplicate]

    - by Kay Singian
    This question already has an answer here: remove objects from array by object property 3 answers I have two JavaScript objects: object_1 = [ {'value': '9:00', 'text':'9:00 am', 'eventtime':'09:00:00' }, {'value': '9:30', 'text':'9:30 am', 'eventtime':'09:30:00' }, {'value': '10:00', 'text':'10:00 am', 'eventtime':'10:00:00' }, {'value': '10:30', 'text':'10:30 am', 'eventtime':'10:30:00' }, {'value': '11:00', 'text':'11:00 am', 'eventtime':'11:00:00' }, {'value': '11:30', 'text':'11:30 am', 'eventtime':'11:30:00' }, ]; object_2 = [ {'eventtime': '10:30:00'}, {'eventtime': '11:00:00'} ]; I want to remove the object in object_1 which has the same eventtime value and store it in a new array/object .   • Is it possible to exclude some elements from parsing when using regular expression and .replace()?

    - by Fletus Mefitis
    <script language="javascript"> $("div.post-content , .parsedsig").each(function(){ if($(this).html().indexOf("[/tabulaScriptum]") != -1) { pattern = /\[tabulaScriptum=(.*?)\]([^\[]*)\[\/tabulaScriptum\]/gi $(this).html($(this).html().replace(pattern, "<div class='tabulaScriptum'><div class='tabulaNomen'>$1</div><div class='tabulaImpleo'>$2</div></div>")) } }); </script> This script is working perfectly, except for one thing... I need not to replace [tabulaScriptum=][/tabulaScriptum] in certain elements. For example, I don't want to replace those "tags" in element that has class .code-box. Is it possible? Clarification: element .code-box is located within .post-content. Clarification #2: this script creates simple division spoiler. .tabulaScriptum is spoier's body, .tabulaNomen is spoiler's name and button which, in turn, reveals(or hides) .tabulaImpleo on click. Reveal\hide script is located in some other place, and I didn't post it here since it doesn't really matter. Clarification #3: http://jsfiddle.net/PRtsw/1/ fiddle.

  • Showing val as html inside of a div in real time.

    - by smudge
    I'm using the following in order to have on screen display of each value of a checkbox that's selected with great results when it's displayed inside a textbox. I'd like to change it so that I can show a real time display in a div as html instead of a textbox. A link to a working demo is here and below is the script. I know it's probably a basic line or two but i'm still learning and new. thanks! function updateTextArea() { var allVals = []; $('#c_b :checked').each(function() { allVals.push($(this).val()); }); $('#t').val(allVals) } $(function() { $('#c_b input').click(updateTextArea); updateTextArea(); });

  • Checking for length of ul and removing an li element

    - by Legend
    I am trying to remove the last <li> element from a <ul> element only if it exceeds a particular length. For this, I am doing something like this: var selector = "#ulelement" if($(selector).children().length > threshold) { $(selector + " >:last").remove(); } I don't like the fact that I have to use the selector twice. Is there a shorter way to do this? Something like a "remove-if-length-greater-than-threshold" idea. I was thinking that maybe there is a way to do this using the live() function but I have no idea how.

  • Ajax to read from form

    - by Edwin
    Hello, I'm writing a store system for my game, it worked quite well until I found out that it only takes the amount of first entered Item. function pbuy(buyitem) { var amountc = "amount-"+buyitem, var amount = $("#"+amountc+"").val(); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "store2.php", data: "buyitem="+ buyitem+"&amount="+amount, success: function(resp){ document.getElementById('ajaxDiv').innerHTML = resp; }, error: function(e){ alert('Error: ' + e); } }); } I'm trying to give it it the Id of the form like so: function pbuy(buyitem) { var amountc = "amount-"+buyitem, var amount = $("#"+amountc+"").val(); But nothing happens. The code the creation of the forms is: <tr> <td class='items' width='80%' align='center' valign='top'><?PHP echo $itemstore->itemname;?> </td> <td width="20%"> Price:<?PHP echo $itemstore->newprice;?> <form method="post"> <input type='text' id='amount-<?PHP echo $row;?>)' /> <input name="itembid" type="button" onclick="pbuy(<?PHP echo $row;?>)" value="Buy" /></form></td> </tr> If I hardcode the amount in the ajax function it all runs fine like it should.
