• Asp.Net MVC and ajax async callback execution order

  I have been sorting through this issue all day and hope someone can help pinpoint my problem. I have created a "asynchronous progress callback" type functionality in my app using ajax. When I strip the functionality out into a test application I get the desired results. See image below: Desired Functionality When I tie the functionality into my single page application using the same code I get a sort of blocking issue where all requests are responded to only after the last task has completed. In the test app above all request are responded to in order. The server reports a ("pending") state for all requests until the controller method has completed. Can anyone give me a hint as to what could cause the change in behavior? • Is it feasible to write a Firefox plugin to make use of ActiveX control on Windows?

  I use an ActiveX control called TAPIEx enabling TAPI phone system integration using MS Access 2000 (+Visual Basic). I want to turn this Access database into a web app with the clients running Firefox (all on internal network). Since Firefox doesnt support ActiveX is it feasible for me to write a Firefox plugin that in turn utilizes the ActiveX control? With regard to how plugins work - Would I be able to call 'functions' of the plugin from page script (eg dial call specifying phone number, check if calls in process)? Would adding these functions to the Firefox right click menu 'globally' inside Firefox be easier? Hope you guys can help. Note I'm not a fulltime programmer; I just need to know how steep the learning curve will be or even if my idea is possible! • Scroll UITableView so that the header isn't visible

  I've got a UITableView with a UISearchBar as the tableViews.tableHeaderView. Just like the new Mail.app, Notes.app, etc. in 3.0. I want to hide the SearchBar until the user drags it in his sight. My attempt only works when there're a couple of items in the tableView, so that the tableView actually wants to scroll. I call this in loadView: NSIndexPath *indexPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:0 inSection:0]; [self._tableView scrollToRowAtIndexPath:indexPath atScrollPosition:UITableViewScrollPositionTop animated:NO]; Nevertheless it seems that Apple handles such a serachbar differently. After draging out the searchbar it doesn't seem to be bounded to the tablecells anymore (in Notes.app, not in Mail.app). But perhaps Apple has a distinct method for that new 3.0 behaviour, and I just can't find it?

  How do I programmatically read an incoming email with .NET. I need a method to take the content of email message (in this case XML) on a POP server and read it into my application. Ideally this could be solved by: .NET code that I can run as a background task on my webserver to process the email. A service that can POST the contents of the email to my webserver. Although I'm open to other options. EDIT: Copied from the "non-answer": Currently, we're looking at using the email accounts our hosting company provides. Our own mail server could potentially be an option, but its something the we'd need to contact the host about.

  I have the following in my migration file def self.up create_table :payment_agreements do |t| t.boolean :automatic, :default => true, :null => false t.string :payment_trigger_on_order t.references :supplier t.references :seller t.references :product t.timestamps end end I want to ensure that if a product_id is specified it is unique but I also want to allow null so I have the following in my model: validates :product_id, :uniqueness => true, :allow_nil => true Works great but I should then add an index to the migration file add_index :payment_agreements, :product_id, :unique => true Obviously this will throw an exception when two null values are inserted for product_id. I could just simply omit the index in the migration but then there's the chance that I'll get two PaymentAgreements with the same product_id as shown here: Concurrency and integrity My question is what is the best/most common way to deal with this problem

• Plugin Framework - can there be too many addin assemblies?

  Hi, The product I'm working on needs to be built in such a way that we have a quote engine driven by a pluggable framework. We are currently thinking of using MAF, so we can leverage separation of the host and addin interfaces for versioning. However, I'm concerned that we'd have lots of assemblies, it's likely that we'd have one for each quote engine addin - of which there could be 100 going forward, we also need to support multiple versions, so there could be lots of assemblies in total. The quote engine also uses WF to drive it, which means each AppDomain for each addin will need a workflow runtime associated with it. This seems quite heavyweight, however we can unload unfrequently used addins. Does this seem like a good design? We've also looked at a single AppDomain solution using an IOC container to load addin types, but I'm concerned that we won't be able to unload any of the assemblies, given their quantity.

Now i have a splitview with a rootview / leftview that has a table and detailview / rightView that has some view controller pushed into it's navigationcontroller. So this is what i want to achieve: When i tap on a tablerow on my rootView , i want my detail view to push a viewController associated with that row... any ideas ? • Unable to send email using 3rd party server ( IIS 7, Windows Server 2008, ASP.NET )

  Hello All, I am using IIS 7 on Server 2008. I just tried migrating my app from an older platform - everything works fine, except the email feature. This is my config: < mailSettings > < smtp from="[email protected]" deliveryMethod="Network" > < network host="mail.xyz.com" port="25" userName="[email protected]" password="123" /> < / smtp > < /mailSettings > Whenever I need to send an email I use: SmtpClient smtp = new SmtpClient(); smtp.Send(email); The funny thing is I get absolutely no errors, however the email is never sent. The outbound firewall ruleset allows SMTP traffic. Any idea what I did wrong?

  Hi, does anyone know a free service for hosting private and public git repositories? There are a lot of services like for example the well known github. Most of them only allow hosting of public repositories. I want to host one or more of my private programming projects using git, but not all of them should be public (at least not for now). I also found the free service GitFarm which is build using the Google App Engine technology, but i couldn't find any information how it works (don't know what "built on Google App Engine technology" means) or if there are any other limitations. Also it seams like there is no web front-end available. An integrated web front-end, bug tracker and stuff like this would also be a big plus!

• Flash security popup is unclickable on a layered window

  I have a layered (TransparencyKey is set) winform w/ a WebBrowser control on it that navigates to a page that contains flash (swf). Everything works okay except that when flash shows a security popup, none of the buttons on the popup respond to mouse click, so I can't click Allow/Deny. Right-click works but only shows the context menu that is normal to flash. I tried overriding WndProc on the WebBrowser control, as suggested here, but it still does not respond to mouse click. If I comment out the TransparencyKey setting, even w/o the WndProc override, the buttons respond. I thought this'd be a container issue so I decided to host the swf file on the form, using the example here, but this, too, had the same problem w/ layered window. So, is there another way that can get around this problem? What is it w/ layered window that renders the buttons on the flash popup unclickable? What is it w/ flash...?

  I'm a perl scripter working in python and need to know a way to do the following perl in python. $Hash{$key1}[$index_value]{$key2} = $value; I have seen the stackoverflow question here: List of dictionaries, in a dictionary - in Python I still don't understand what self.rules is doing or if it works for my solution. My data will be coming from files, and will I will be using regexes to capture to temporary variables until ready to store in the data structure. If you need to ask, the order related to the $index_value is important and would like to be maintained as an integer. Any suggestions are appreciated or if you think I need to rethink data structures with Python that would be helpful.

  I have stored some files in the form of blobs on azure and I have written an application that would access these blobs. When I host this application as a web role on azure, it works perfectly and I am happy with that. But now, I wanted to know “what is the query time taken to access each blob file?” I was searching for this through the Microsoft Azure Storage SLA and I found that for GetBlob request type, the maximum processing time should be within the product of 2 seconds multiplied by the number of MBs transferred in processing the request. I am still unclear. What is the actual processing time of my data query? How can I measure it? Can I be able to speed up the processing time? I can understand that the processing time depends on internet speed, location of the data center where my data is being stored, and location of data center where my application is being hosted. But still, will I be able to speed up my query?

  I have a before_create filter that checks if people are posting too many comments. If they are I want to flag their account. class Comment < ActiveRecord::Base before_create :check_rate_limit def check_rate_limit comments_in_last_minute = self.user.comments.count(:conditions => ["comments.created_at > ?", 1.minute.ago]) if comments_in_last_minute > 2 user.update_attribute :status, "suspended" return false end true end end The before filter returns false to stop the comment from being created. The problem is that this triggers a ROLLBACK which also undoes the changes I made to the user model. What's the correct pattern to accomplish this? Specifically: running a check each time an object is created and being able to edit another model if the check fails.

  I've been fighting my way through the process of migrating a (previously self-hosted) WCF application to IIS7 (I've never used IIS before and I realise that this is a very simplistic question but I failed to google/SO the answer so far). My service is hosted at http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/SampleWebsite/Service.svc but when I access it with ?wsdl all the references that should read http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/ are actually set to the window machine's local network name (i.e. http://localpc3/). I've tried using the WCF tool to add the external IP address to the base address section under the service I'm configuring as well as a number of setting inside IIS but I can't seem to track down the correct place. Where do I set this? IIS manager, web.config, somewhere else?

I need to set a developer portal, a web site where existing and potential developers would find documentation html pages doc files for download libraries downloads wiki forums support ticketing system. There should be a public part and a part protected by login. I want only logged in users to submit tickets, for example. I don't want to host it. I would prefer a generic design based on a sensible template, where I can add minimal customization, such as logo. I don't want to add code to get any of the above functionality. • Are Inherited Forms And/Or Inherited Controls possible in Managed C++

  Hello everyone The question is actually pretty self explanatory but I will further clarify it. I am building a simple application to show a load [file] for 5 different types of [files]. So all these 5 forms will have similar GUI elements such as a listbox and a load button with a small textbox/label to show the summary of the [file]'s information. My desired effect is something like visual studio's C# template for Inherited User controls or Inherited forms. I already heavily googled the concept to look for a C++ visual studio template to the trick but I couldn't find it. The word [file] is in brackets because open file dialogue will not the trick as this list of files to select form comes form an SQL server. Thanks a lot!
