  • association of more than one model to a listview

    I have 3 Tables in my database. Each table has 3 fields each, excluding the ID field. out of which 2 fields are of type nvarchar. None of the tables are related. My ListView in the application helps the user to search my database, the search being incremental. The search includes the nvarchar fields of the 3 tables ie, 6 fields in total. Eg: PhoneBook: Name, PhoneNo Notes: Title, Content Bookmarks: Name, url I've the models generated for the 3 tables. Now the ListBox should display the Ph.Name, Title and the Bo.Name fields. ie, It should be bound to them. But they are from different models. I also should be able to perform CRUD operation on the item searched. How would i do that? P.S: Separate ViewModels are created for each Model which are used for their respective views for handling those tables individually. But this is an integrated view where the user should be able to search everything. Also please somebody suggest me a better Title for this question:)

    We have a statement., that is inserting some rows in a temporary table (say e.g., 10 rows), while inserting 5th row, it has some issue with one of the column format and giving an error and then it stopped inserting the rows. What I want is, it should skip the error rows and insert valid rows. For those error rows, it can skip that error column and insert with some null value & different status. create table #tb_pagecontent_value (pageid int,formid uniqueidentifier, id_field xml,fieldvalue xml,label_final xml) … … insert into #tb_pagecontent_xml select A.pageid,B.formid,A.PageData.query('/CPageDataXML/control') from Pagedata A inner join page B on A.PageId=B.PageId inner join FormAssociation C on B.FormId=C.FormId where B.pageid in (select pageId from jobs where jobtype='zba' and StatusFlag!=1) in the above e.g., I want to apply that logic.     Ok I have a table in my MSSQL database that stores comments. My desire is to be able to page though the records using [Back],[Next], page numbers & [Last] buttons in my datalist. I figured the most efficient way was to use a stored procedure that only returns a certain number of rows within a partcular range. Here is what I came up with @PageIndex INT, @PageSize INT, @postid int AS SET NOCOUNT ON begin WITH tmp AS ( SELECT comments.*, ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY dateposted ASC) AS Row FROM comments WHERE (comments.postid = @postid)) SELECT tmp.* FROM tmp WHERE Row between (@PageIndex - 1) * @PageSize + 1 and @PageIndex*@PageSize end RETURN Now everything works fine and I have been able implement [Next] and [Back] buttons in my datalist pager.Now I need the total number of all comments(not in the cuurent page) so that I can implement my page numbers and the[Last] button on my pager. In other words I want to return the total number of rows in my first select statement i.e WITH tmp AS ( SELECT comments.*, ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY dateposted ASC) AS Row FROM comments WHERE (comments.postid = @postid)) set @TotalRows = @@rowcount @@rowcount doesnt work and raises an error.I also cant get count.* to work either. Is there another way to get the total amount of rows or is my approach doomed.

  • Why can't you return a List from a Compiled Query?

    I was speeding up my app by using compiled queries for queries which were getting hit over and over. Parameter name: value However, when I changed my compiled query to return IQueryable instead of List like so: Function Select(ByVal fk_id As Integer) As List(SomeEntity) Using db As New DataContext() db.ObjectTrackingEnabled = False Return CompiledSelect(db, fk_id).ToList() End Using End Function Shared CompiledSelect As Func(Of DataContext, Integer, IQueryable(Of SomeEntity)) = _ CompiledQuery.Compile(Function(db As DataContext, fk_id As Integer) _ From u In db.SomeEntities _ Where u.SomeLinkedEntity.ID = fk_id _ Select u) It worked fine. Can anyone shed any light as to why this is? BTW, compiled queries rock! They sped up my app by a factor of 2.

    I am working with a large PostgreSQL database, and I are trying to tune it to get more performance. Our queries and updates seem to be doing a lot of lookups using foreign keys. What I would like is a relatively simple way to add Indexes to all of our foreign keys without having to go through every table (~140) and doing it manually. In researching this, I've come to find that there is no way to have Postgres do this for you automatically (like MySQL does), but I would be happy to hear otherwise there, too.

Home is always unique to the person. But my DBMS doesn't know that. Is there an easy way around this problem? Appreciate it.

    Hi I have a MySQL database table "points" the user can click a button and a point should be removed from their account, the button they pressed has an ID of another user, therefore their account must increase by one.     When I tried writing to an read-only parameter(IN) of a function, Oracle complains with an error. But that is not the case when reading from an write-only(OUT) parameter of a function. Oracle silently allows this without any error. What is the reason for this behaviour?. I tried: <resultMap id="storemap" class="my.example.Store"> <result property="myStaff" resultMap="staffMap"/> <result property="myItem" result="itemMap"/> </resultMap> (other maps omitted) But it's way too slow since the Store table is VERY VERY large. I tried to follow the example in Clinton's developer guide for the N+1 solution, but I cannot warp my mind around how to use the "groupBy" for an object with 2 list... Any help is appreciated!

    Suppose we're making a system where we have to store the addrees for buildings, persons, cars, etc. The address 'format' should be something like: State (From a State list) County (From a County List) Street (free text, like '5th Avenue') Number (free text, like 'Chrysler Building, Floor 10, Office No. 10') (Yes I don't live in U.S.A) What would be the best way to store that info: Should I have a Person_Address, Car_Address, ... Or the address info should be in columns on each entity, Could we have just one address table and try to link each row to a different entity? Or are there another 'better' way to handle this type of scenario? How would yo do it?

  • Filling a LOV in Oracle Apex based on data in another text box

    I am fairly new to Oracle Apex, and have a problem. Our application currently has a method of entering data, with several text boxes and Optional List of Values. I would like to have an LOV based on information in another text box like so: select APPOINTMENT_ID PATIENT_ID from APPOINTMENT where PATIENT_ID = :P9_PAT_NUM where P9_PAT_NUM is a patient number in a text box. However, this would apparently only work if the text box has already been submitted, else it assumes the text box is null. Is there any way to get this working with an LOV, or perhaps some other method?

Both has role of sysadmin and serveradmin. I logged in another machine(Machine 2) using "abc\user2 ". Same Domain. Run the ant which connect to MSSQL Server. URL is formed as follows. jdbc:sqlserver://%DB_IP%:%DB_PORT%;SelectMethod=cursor;integratedSecurity=true;DatabaseName=dbname; 1) From Machine 2, If I use "abc\user2" credential for connection, then it works fine. since integratedSecurity=true. 2) From Machine 2, If I use "abc\user1" credential for connection, then it doesn't fine, since integratedSecurity=true and take System Credentials i.e "abc\user2". Even if I make integratedSecurity=false , then also it doesn't connect using "abc\user1" What changes to URL I have make to work for "abc\user1" from Machine2 for connection. what properties to be added in url? OR Driver doesn't support to use another domain\User Credentials? What need to set on MSSQL Server ?? Deepak

    I have a GridView that is bound to a LINQDataSource control that is returning a collection of customers. Within my DataGrid I need to display the home phone number of a customer, if they have one. The phone numbers of a customer are stored in a separate table with a foreign key pointing to the customer table. The following binding expression gets me the first phone number for a customer: <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="LastName" SortExpression="LastName"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="PhoneLabel" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("Phones[0].PhoneNumber") %>'></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> I need to figure out how to get the home phone number specifically (filter based on phone type) and handle the scenario where the customer does not have a home phone in the database. Right now it's throwing an out of range exception if the customer does not have any phone numbers. I've tried using the Where operator with a lambda expression to filter the phone type but it doesn't work: <%# Eval("Phones.Where(p => p.PhoneTypeId == 2).PhoneNumber") %> Solutions or links to any good articles on the subject would be much appreciated.

  • Does normalization really hurt performance in high traffic sites?

    I am designing a database and I would like to normalize the database. I one query I will joining about 30-40 tables. Will this hurt the website performance if it ever becomes extremely popular? This will be the main query and it will be getting called 50% of the time. The other queries I will be joining about 2 tables. I have a choice right now to normalize or not to normalize but if the normalization becomes a problem in the future i may have to rewrite 40% of the software and it may take me a long time. Does normalization really hurt in this case? Should I denormalize now while I have the time?

  • Strange behavior with large Object Types

    I recognized that calling a method on an Oracle Object Type takes longer when the instance gets bigger. The code below just adds rows to a collection stored in the Object Type and calls the empty dummy-procedure in the loop. Calls are taking longer when more rows are in the collection.   • Multiple Foriegn Keys from One Table linking to single Primary Key in second Table

    Hi all, I have a database with three tables, a household table, an adults table and a users table. The Household table contains two foreign keys, iAdult1ID and iAdult2ID. The Users table has a iUserID primary key and the Adult table has a corresponding iUserID foreign key. One of the columns in the Users table is strUsername, an e-mail address. I am trying to write a query that will allow me to search for an e-mail address for either adult that has a relation to the household. So I have two questions, assuming that all the values are not null, how can I do this? And two, in reality, iAdult2ID can be null, is it still possible to write a query to do this? Thanks for your help. Let me know if you need any more information.
