• Copy Paste is Disabled in Property Grid

  Hi All, I have a FileNameEditor inside a property grid, which has a few entries like Main File : "C:\blah1" Sec File: "C:\blah2" and so on. My problem is that I cannot copy and paste from one property entry to another, and I cannot type in the fields manually as well. Is there a specific property that will enable editing inside the FileNameEditor.   Hi, I'm working with visual studio 2008 express and sql 2008 express. I'm trying to create mdf database (Add new Item ...)and I recieve the following error message: "a network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verfy that instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named pipes Provider:40 - could not open connection to SQL)" Why ? Is it possible to create mdf database with SQL 2008 Express ? If it is then what to do ?

  While the NSCurrentLocaleDidChangeNotification perfectly makes sense on Mac OS X, I don't see how you can possibly receive it on iPhone OS. In order to change the locale, you have to quit the running application, then change it in Settings ? General ? International ? Region Format. At that point, your app is not running, so how could it receive the notification? I first thought this notification was leftover from the Mac OS X documentation, but then I found this in Apple Push Notification Service Programming Guide: The application might send its provider the preferred language every time the user changes something in the current locale. To do this, you can listen for the notification named NSCurrentLocaleDidChangeNotification and, in your notification-handling method, get the code identifying the preferred language and send that to your provider. So, how do you trigger this notification on iPhone OS?

• sql connection problem only from another computer

  I have a task that runs nightly. It connects to a sql server on our network and when I run it from my machine it runs fine. When it runs from the other computer I get the following error. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) I've checked with our systems admin and he said nothing has changed on the sql box or on the box in question so I'm not sure why it runs fine from one and not the other. From what I've read about this error it sounds like it's a setting on the sql server that would disallow it to run on either box.

  I'm looking for a way to write an SQL statement in C# targeting different providers. A typical example of SQL statements differentiating is the LIMIT in PostgreSQL vs. TOP in MSSQL. Is the only way to solve SQL-syntax like the two above to write if-statements depending on which provider the user selects or using try catch statements as flow control (LIMIT didn't work, I'll try TOP instead)? I've seen the LINQ Take method, but I'm wondering if one can do this without LINQ? In other words, does C# have some generic SQL Provider class that I have failed to find that can be used?

• An NSMutableArray that doesn't retain?

  A few UIViewControllers in my app that need to register with a "provider" class in their viewDidLoad methods. I've just been adding them to an NSMutableArray contained in the provider class. However, I don't want this NSMutableArray to keep them from being dealloc'ed, and I also want to have them remove themselves from the NSMutableArray in their dealloc methods. I tried just issuing a [self release] after adding them to the array, and this works, but in order to avoid a crash when they get dealloc'ed, I have to issue a [self retain] right before I remove them. It seems like I'm doing something horribly wrong by retaining an object in it's own dealloc method. Is there a better way to store these values?

• How should I ask for help in getting my emails to stop bouncing?

  For several months, people have been telling me that emails they sent to me have been bouncing back, marked as undeliverable. The bounce message would contain portions like this: Final-Recipient: rfc822;[email protected] Action: failed Status: 5.7.1 Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550 5.7.1 <[email protected]>... Recipient declines email from 69.64.159.2, <spamhaus-xbl>, Ref: http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=69.64.159.2 Clicking the link on the last line, the destination page told me that "this IP address is infected with/emitting spamware/spamtrojan traffic and needs to be fixed." I could temporarily de-list this node by clicking a link on that page, but it would get back on the list and more emails to me to bounce. I own a domain, innerpaths.net, and I normally use [email protected] for my email. I have my domain registrar, namecheap.com, forward all email from innerpaths.net to the email account [email protected]. (BTW, I had this same problem at a former registrar. I changed registrars, hoping that would fix the problem. It didn't.) Trying to isolate the problem, I asked namecheap.com what I should do. Their answer, though substantial, left me scratching my head: We have received feedback from our upstream provider which informed us that the mail server that you are trying to email subscribes to a 3rd party blacklist service which they appear to be listed on at the present time and is causing destination mail server to reject the messages. Being blocked with one of these services can happen to anyone for many reasons and is something that is beyond our control. 3rd party blacklist services require companies whose mail servers they have blacklisted, pay fees in order to be removed from their lists. As we cannot pay fees to blacklist services which require them for removal, you should contact your email provider and have them whitelist our mail server IP address: 69.64.157.73. My best guess is that I should email my ISP, sonic.net, tell them what is going on and ask them to whitelist the IP address 69.64.157.73. (If not, please let me know.) But I want to know what is going on and how email works. I understand that there's a device at location 69.64.159.2 that is doing something bad that causes the "destination mail server [sonic.net's, I assume --gw] to reject the messages." I know that email is sent through multiple devices in a way that eventually gets it to its destination. Beyond that, here are my questions: 1) I thought the Internet "routed around damage." Why does email starting at namecheap.com always (or is it 'sometimes'?) go through 69.64.159.2? 2) Who is the "upstream provider" that the namecheap.com representative mentions, and what is their role? 3) How does having sonic.net's whitelisting namecheap.com's mail server prevent my email being bounced by 69.64.159.2? I've searched the Internet for answers but have found nothing useful. Thanks for whatever answers you can provide.

• Please help to clean up my RoR development environment

  I started RoR development a few months ago, and being new to Mac... Time flies and now I have a lot different ruby versions, rails versions and gems versions located everywhere......And currently I installed rvm and things got even worst, all things messed! And so I started want to clean all things and use rvm again! I want to uninstall all gems, all rails, and all ruby versions, except the system's default one (the very old one born with the mac). Or any other better solutions or suggestions!? I have also attempted to use the values for API AccessClient ID for web applications.   I use HttpURLConnection to do HTTP POST but I dont always get back the full response. I wanted to debug the problem, but when I step through each line it worked. I thought it must be a timing issue so I added Thread.sleep and it really made my code work, but this is only a temporary workaround. I wonder why is this happening and how to solve.   I am trying to develop an Facebook application (apps.facebook.com/some_app) using PHP where I need to present some information based on user's music interests. I found that its under "user_likes games". My problems are as follows: To gain access, I have implemented the oauth dialog method as suggested in API in my index page. $auth_url = "http://www.facebook.com/dialog/oauth?client_id=" . $app_id . "&redirect_uri=" . urlencode($canvas_page) ."&scope=user_likes"; After successful authorization I come back to index page with "code" as parameters. http://MY_CANVAS_PAGE/?code=some base64 encoded letters Firstly I don't know if I need access_token just to read user's music interests but I have tried all the methods suggested. I know that the portablecontacts gem will retrieve contacts, but does not allow for adding or updating. I was wondering if anyone knew of a gem that will handle this type of interaction. If not what would be the best method to implement a gem that would make it easier to handle the responses.
