  • Getting the URL of a model in Lift

    - by scompt.com
I'm coming at Lift from a Django point of view, so in Django parlence, I'm trying to find the Lift equivalent of reverse. In generic terms, I have an instance of a model and I would like to get the URL that that model can be accessed at according to the SiteMap. I've tried extending Loc, but that doesn't seem to have brought me further towards my goal. I'm using the most recent 1.1 milestone (M8?).

  • Is this a problem typically solved with IOC?

    - by Dirk
My current application allows users to define custom web forms through a set of admin screens. it's essentially an EAV type application. As such, I can't hard code HTML or ASP.NET markup to render a given page. Instead, the UI requests an instance of a Form object from the service layer, which in turn constructs one using a several RDMBS tables. Form contains the kind of classes you would expect to see in such a context: Form= IEnumerable<FormSections>=IEnumerable<FormFields> Here's what the service layer looks like: public class MyFormService: IFormService{ public Form OpenForm(int formId){ //construct and return a concrete implementation of Form } } Everything works splendidly (for a while). The UI is none the wiser about what sections/fields exist in a given form: It happily renders the Form object it receives into a functional ASP.NET page. A few weeks later, I get a new requirement from the business: When viewing a non-editable (i.e. read-only) versions of a form, certain field values should be merged together and other contrived/calculated fields should are added. No problem I say. Simply amend my service class so that its methods are more explicit: public class MyFormService: IFormService{ public Form OpenFormForEditing(int formId){ //construct and return a concrete implementation of Form } public Form OpenFormForViewing(int formId){ //construct and a concrete implementation of Form //apply additional transformations to the form } } Again everything works great and balance has been restored to the force. The UI continues to be agnostic as to what is in the Form, and our separation of concerns is achieved. Only a few short weeks later, however, the business puts out a new requirement: in certain scenarios, we should apply only some of the form transformations I referenced above. At this point, it feels like the "explicit method" approach has reached a dead end, unless I want to end up with an explosion of methods (OpenFormViewingScenario1, OpenFormViewingScenario2, etc). Instead, I introduce another level of indirection: public interface IFormViewCreator{ void CreateView(Form form); } public class MyFormService: IFormService{ public Form OpenFormForEditing(int formId){ //construct and return a concrete implementation of Form } public Form OpenFormForViewing(int formId, IFormViewCreator formViewCreator){ //construct a concrete implementation of Form //apply transformations to the dynamic field list return formViewCreator.CreateView(form); } } On the surface, this seems like acceptable approach and yet there is a certain smell. Namely, the UI, which had been living in ignorant bliss about the implementation details of OpenFormForViewing, must possess knowledge of and create an instance of IFormViewCreator. My questions are twofold: Is there a better way to achieve the composability I'm after? (perhaps by using an IoC container or a home rolled factory to create the concrete IFormViewCreator)? Did I fundamentally screw up the abstraction here?

  • What is the meaning of this C++ Error std::length_error

    - by Janusz
While running my program I get this Error: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::length_error' what(): basic_string::_S_create Abort trap I know that you can't do much without the code but I think that error is to deep in the code to copy all of it. Maybe I can figure it out if I understand what this error means. Is this a sign for an issue with reading or writing at the wrong memory address? Is there something I can do to get more information about the problem from my program?

  • A file is being http posted, how can I reference the parameter by index?

    - by Blankman
An XML file is being posted to a url that my spring mvc is responding to. In .NET, I could do this: request.Form[0] request.Form["abc"] or request.QueryString[0] request.QueryString["some_key"] Now with spring/servlets it seems I can only do this: request.getParameter("some_key") or get all the names or values. When someone is posting a file to a url, using http post, won't this be just a single request parameter then? Can I get the parameter using index with servlets?

  • iPhone SDK: How to determine keyboard type within a UIKeyboardDidShowNotification?

    - by iPhone Developer
Hello, I need to know the current keyboard type. I was setting an instance variable in - (BOOL)textFieldShouldBeginEditing:(UITextField *)textField However, testing has shown that this is not always reliable because of the asynchronous nature of notifications. What I am wondering is if anyone can tell me how to determine the current keyboard type within a notification? - (void)keyboardDidShow:(NSNotification *) { // Need way to determine keyboard type here } Thanks.

  • creating a full html file out of webloc in a batch mode

    - by Wordpress Newbie
Hi, I've got over 400 bookmarks saved as .webloc files. I'd like to move them to the iPhone's goodReader app. goodReader cannot open webloc files. It can sork with pdf, html but not webloc. Do you know of a way or a program that would take a folder as its input, and convert every single .webloc file in it into a PDF version or a html version - so I can grab the converted files and move them onto iPhone. Thank you

  • WCF Endpoint routing

    - by Dmitriy Sosunov
Hi, Guys, how to route inbound message between different endpoints. I need to expose the single endpoint that could accept different credentials. I guess, solve this by intercept the incoming message and based on message header then do forward message to appropriate endpoint. Thanks.

  • How to store multiple scroll positions for scrolling div element depending on active View in MultiView (asp.net webform

    - by Spence
confusing title but the best way I can put it. Basically I am currently using a single div with overflow:auto that contains different GridViews. The GridViews are swapped by using a MultiView with each indiviudal view containing a single GridView. I would like to be able to store the scroll position of each view so that I can set the div's scroll position depending on the view that will be switched to. Here is how my page is set up. <div id="scrollingDiv" style="height:100%; overflow:auto;"> <div id="gridWrap"> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" RenderMode="Inline"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:MultiView ID="MultiView1" runat="server"> <asp:View ID="view1" runat="server"> <asp:GridView ID="gridView1" runat="server"> </asp:GridView> </asp:View> <asp:View ID="view2" runat="server"> <asp:GridView ID="gridView2" runat="server"> </asp:GridView> </asp:View> </asp:Multiview> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </div> </div> So scrollingDiv will contain all the Views and will scroll for each one of the GridViews. To switch between views I have a drop down connected to an protected void DropDownList_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { switch (DownList.SelectedItem.Value) { case "view1": MultiView1.SetActiveView(view1); break; case "view2": MultiView1.SetActiveView(view2); break; } } I have been looking around and can't quite find something specific to my case. I would like to be able to use just the one overflow div but would understand if I had to make a separate overflow div for each view. Any help would be great, Thanks.

  • Where are Silverlight assemblies stored when a xap file is run?

    - by ForeverDebugging
We currently have a XAP file which contains Foo.dll, and another XAP file (with a completely different name) which contains an updated version Foo.dll (but the same version number). When we run the second XAP file, it looks as though the Silverlight runtime on the client, is picking up the old version of Foo.dll from the first XAP file. Anyone know where the Silverlight runtime unzips the xap file before running its content? Or if the runtime executes on a single app domain which could explain these errors?

  • converting an interface to a type in MVC

    - by danielovich

Consider this code: [HttpPost()] public void Update(IAuctionItem item) { RedirectToAction("List"); } Whenever I call this I get an exception saying I can't create an instance of type which i totally correct. But is there a way of telling what the interface should map to without actually using the concrete type ?

  • how do I use mod_rewrite for just one file?

    - by Angela
I want to use mod-rewrite for just one file instance: www.domain.com/contact to pull from www.domain.com/contact.php I used a rewrite rule for all files that look like a directory to do this initially but it messed up some diretory redirects I created so in the short-term, I'd rather just do it for a specific file. Thanks.

  • Accessing Sharepoint tasks via web services?

    - by scooterhanson
I've looked at a lot of the previous questions asked about sharepoint and accessing objects via web-services, and I am pretty convinced that tasks can be accessed through the Lists interface. Can anybody please verify this for me? Also, if anyone has any examples of this I would be very grateful. I'm not a Sharepoint guy but I need to connect to an instance just to retrieve task objects.

  • Run multiple copies of an app from Visual Studio

    - by HeavyWave
How can I run multiple copies of the same app in Debug with Visual Studio? For instance, how do I run app.exe /option1 and app.exe /option2 and still debug both? I know I can run them manually and then attach, but I want an automated solution. I have tried writing a small console app just to run 2 processes, but obviously they are not being run under debugger. Any ideas?
