  • MySQL equivalent to .pgpass, or automatic authentication in a cron job for mySQL

    - by Ibrahim
I'm writing a bash script to back up my databases. Most are postgresql, and in postgres there's a way to avoid having to authenticate by creating a ~/.pgpass file which contains the postgres password. I put this in root's home directory and made it chmod 0600, so that root could dump the postgres databases without having to authenticate. Now I want to do something similar for mysql, although I only have one mysql database. How can I do this? I don't want to specify the password on the command line for mysqldump because this is part of a script that might be somewhat visible to other users. Is there a better way (i.e. built in to mysql) to do this than make a file that only root can read and then read that to get the mysql password, and then use that in the bash script as a variable?

  • Running a scheduled task as SYSTEM with console window open

    - by raoulsson
I am auto creating scheduled tasks with this line within a batch windows script: schtasks /Create /RU SYSTEM /RP SYSTEM /TN startup-task-%%i /TR %SPEEDWAY_DIR%\%TARGET_DIR%%%i\%STARTUPFILE% /SC HOURLY /MO 1 /ST 17:%%i1:00 I wanted to avoid using specific user credentials and thus decided to use SYSTEM. Now, when checking in the taskmanagers process list or, even better, directly with the C:\> schtasks command itself, all is working well, the tasks are running as intended. However in this particular case I would like to have an open console window where I can see the log flying by. I know I could use C:\> tail -f thelogfile.log if I installed e.g. cygwin (on all machines) or some proprietary tools like Baretail on Windows. But since I only switch to these machines in case of trouble, I would prefer to start the scheduled task in such a way that every user immediately sees the log. Any chance? Thanks!

  • How to override the default dir alias in Powershell?

    - by Ashwin
I wanted to see colorized filenames when I typed dir in Powershell. So, I added the Set-ChildItemColor function from here to my profile file. I also added this line at the end of the profile file to override the dir alias: Set-Alias dir Get-ChildItemColor Now, when I open Powershell, I get this error: Set-Alias : The AllScope option cannot be removed from the alias 'dir'. At C:\Users\joe\Documents\WindowsPowerShell\Microsoft.PowerShell_profile.ps1:82 char:10 + Set-Alias <<<< dir Get-ChildItemColor + CategoryInfo : WriteError: (dir:String) [Set-Alias], SessionStateUna uthorizedAccessException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : AliasAllScopeOptionCannotBeRemoved,Microsoft.PowerShe ll.Commands.SetAliasCommand What is this AllScope? How do I remove that option to get colorized dir?

  • Radius Authorization against ActiveDirectory and the users file

    - by mohrphium
I have a problem with my freeradius server configuration. I want to be able to authenticate users against Windows ActiveDirectory (2008 R2) and the users file, because some of my co-workers are not listed in AD. We use the freeradius server to authenticate WLAN users. (PEAP/MSCHAPv2) AD Authentication works great, but I still have problems with the /etc/freeradius/users file When I run freeradius -X -x I get the following: Mon Jul 2 09:15:58 2012 : Info: ++++[chap] returns noop Mon Jul 2 09:15:58 2012 : Info: ++++[mschap] returns noop Mon Jul 2 09:15:58 2012 : Info: [suffix] No '@' in User-Name = "testtest", looking up realm NULL Mon Jul 2 09:15:58 2012 : Info: [suffix] Found realm "NULL" Mon Jul 2 09:15:58 2012 : Info: [suffix] Adding Stripped-User-Name = "testtest" Mon Jul 2 09:15:58 2012 : Info: [suffix] Adding Realm = "NULL" Mon Jul 2 09:15:58 2012 : Info: [suffix] Authentication realm is LOCAL. • Dell Inspiron 1520 Intermittent connection to wireless router

    - by ChuckNevol
I have two computers in my home which are connected to a wireless router and a wireless printer. One computer is a Del XPS and the other a Dell laptop Inspiron 1520. In recent weeks we noticed the Inspiron had difficulty maintaining connection to the wireless router - web pages would suddenly have to be reloaded, or the computer rebooted while the other computer, the XPS, had no problems on the same network. So we connected a hard wire line from the Inspiron to the Verizon supplied wireless router. Problems still exist. could it be a bad driver?

  • SQL Server 2008 to Sybase Linked Server (x64) -- Provider and permissions issues

    - by Cory Larson
Good morning, We're testing a new SQL Server 2008 setup (64-bit) and one of our requirements was to get a linked server up and talking to a Sybase database. We've successfully done so using Sybase's 64-bit 15.5 drivers, however I can't expand the catalog list from a remote machine (connecting to the '08 box with SSMS) without having my network account being added as an Administrator on the actual box and then using Windows Authentication to connect to the server instance. This is going to be problematic when we go live. Has anybody experienced this, or have any input on the permissions in SQL Server 2008 with regards to linked servers? If I remove my network account from the Administrators group, the big error I'm getting is a 'Msg 7302, Level 16, State 1, Line 41' with a description something like "Cannot create an instance of OLE DB provider "ASEOLEDB" for linked server "", and all research points to permissions issues. Thoughts? This document talks about DCOM configuration and permissions, but we've tried all of it with no luck. Thanks

  • Can't start httpd 2.4.9 with self-signed SSL certificate

    - by Smollet
I cannot start the httpd 2.4.9 (tried 2.4.x too) on CentOS 6.5 with the simplest SSL config possible. The openssl version installed on the machine is OpenSSL 1.0.1e-fips 11 Feb 2013 (I've upgraded it using 'yum update' to the latest patched version as well) I have compiled and installed the httpd 2.4.9 using the following commands: ./configure --enable-ssl --with-ssl=/usr/local/ssl/ --enable-proxy=shared --enable-proxy_wstunnel=shared --with-apr=apr-1.5.1/ --with-apr-util=apr-util-1.5.3/ make make install Now I'm generating the default self-signed certificate as described in the CentOS HowTo: openssl genrsa -out ca.key 2048 openssl req -new -key ca.key -out ca.csr openssl x509 -req -days 365 -in ca.csr -signkey ca.key -out ca.crt cp ca.crt /etc/pki/tls/certs cp ca.key /etc/pki/tls/private/ca.key cp ca.csr /etc/pki/tls/private/ca.csr Here is my httpd-ssl.conf file: Listen 443 SSLCipherSuite HIGH:MEDIUM:!aNULL:!MD5 SSLPassPhraseDialog builtin SSLSessionCache "shmcb:/usr/local/apache2/logs/ssl_scache(512000)" SSLSessionCacheTimeout 300 <VirtualHost *:443> SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile /etc/pki/tls/certs/ca.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/pki/tls/private/ca.key <FilesMatch "\.(cgi|shtml|phtml|php)$"> SSLOptions +StdEnvVars </FilesMatch> <Directory "/usr/local/apache2/cgi-bin"> SSLOptions +StdEnvVars </Directory> BrowserMatch "MSIE [2-5]" \ nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown \ downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0 CustomLog "/usr/local/apache2/logs/ssl_request_log" \ "%t %h %{SSL_PROTOCOL}x %{SSL_CIPHER}x \"%r\" %b" </VirtualHost> when I start httpd using bin/apachectl -k start I get following errors in the error_log: Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.995654 2014] [ssl:info] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] AH01887: Init: Initializing (virtual) servers for SSL [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.995726 2014] [ssl:info] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] AH01914: Configuring server 192.168.9.128:443 for SSL protocol [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.995863 2014] [ssl:debug] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] ssl_engine_init.c(312): AH01893: Configuring TLS extension handling [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.996111 2014] [ssl:debug] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] ssl_util_ssl.c(343): AH02412: [192.168.9.128:443] Cert matches for name '192.168.9.128' [subject: CN=192.168.9.128,OU=XXX,O=XXXX,L=XXXX,ST=NRW,C=DE / issuer: CN=192.168.9.128,OU=XXX,O=XXXX,L=XXXX,ST=NRW,C=DE / serial: AF04AF31799B7695 / notbefore: Jun 3 22:26:45 2014 GMT / notafter: Jun 3 22:26:45 2015 GMT] [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.996122 2014] [ssl:info] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] AH02568: Certificate and private key 192.168.9.128:443:0 configured from /etc/pki/tls/certs/ca.crt and /etc/pki/tls/private/ca.key [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.996209 2014] [ssl:info] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] AH01914: Configuring server 192.168.9.128:443 for SSL protocol [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.996280 2014] [ssl:debug] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] ssl_engine_init.c(312): AH01893: Configuring TLS extension handling [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.996295 2014] [ssl:emerg] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] AH02572: Failed to configure at least one certificate and key for 192.168.9.128:443 [Wed Jun 04 00:29:27.996303 2014] [ssl:emerg] [pid 24021:tid 139640404293376] SSL Library Error: error:0906D06C:PEM routines:PEM_read_bio:no start line (Expecting: DH PARAMETERS) -- Bad file contents or format - or even just a forgotten SSLCertificateKeyFile? I've seen a bug report with the similar issue: https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=56410 But the openssl version I have is reported as working there. I've also tried to apply the patch from the report as well as build the latest 2.4.x branch with no success, I get the same errors as above. I have also tried to create a short chain of certificates and set the root CA certificate using SSLCertificateChainFile directive. That didn't help either, I get exact same errors as above. I'm not interested in setting up hardened security, etc. The only thing I need is to start httpd with the simplest SSL config possible to continue testing proxy config for the mod_proxy_wstunnel Had anybody encountered and solved this issue? • How to start using Wget?

    - by brilliant
Please, forgive me for asking this question. Usually I would try to learn thisngs myself first before bothering others, but my situation is urgent - if I don't act now and don't download all my family pictures from this website, it will be closed in about two weeks from now and I will loose all of them. So, please help me. I have already asked a question about how to download from my website all my pictures automatically here and I was advised to use Wget. But I don't know the very basics as to how to use it. The basics are not explained on that page. In that questioned that I asked I was even given this line: wget -r -A .jpg,.gif,.png but I don't know what I am supposed to do with it in order to get the Wget going and download all the pictures from my website. Please, help me somebody!

  • Munin-cron fails "Nothing to do", possibly a munin.conf problem?

    - by geerlingguy
I have been working on this for a few hours now, and haven't yet been able to get munin to output the html files/generated graphs of resource usage on my CentOS 5.3 server. Here are some things I run as the munin user, and the results: /usr/share/munin/munin-update --nofork --debug (above works fine, takes ~2.4 seconds to complete) munin-run cpu (And other options/plugins (besides 'cpu'), all work fine and give desired output) munin-cron Fails with: [FATAL] There is nothing to do here, since there are no nodes with any plugins. Please refer to http://munin-monitoring.org/wiki/FAQ_no_graphs at /usr/share/munin/munin-html line 38 I am wondering if, perhaps, the settings in my munin.conf file might be causing a problem. Here's the contents of that file (below): bdir /var/lib/munin/ htmldir /home/archdev/public_html/monitoring logdir /var/log/munin rundir /var/run/munin/ tmpldir /etc/munin/templates [archstl.archstl.org] address 127.0.0.1 use_node_name yes Also, when I run the telnet localhost 4949 command, and list the node's plugins, it returns the default munin list... something seems to be wrong with the munin html creation process. :(

  • OpenVPN won't start on ubuntu - PID not found

    - by you8301083
I am running ubuntu version 12.04 LTS and I have installed OpenVPN on it. After a while of troubleshooting why my client won't connect (I have generated keys and confligured the client), I ran 'service openvpn status' from the command line and received the following error: could not access PID file for VPN 'server' I have rebooted, started and restarted the service, but each time I check the status, I receive the PID error. I'm pretty sure that I can't connect because the service isn't running. Where can I begin troubleshooting this? I don't know what to look for. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Setting alias in Windows PowerShell

    - by westsider
In PowerShell, I type: PS C: sal cdp "cd 'C:\Users\ec\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects'" I get no error from this, and PS C: gal cdp shows definition as: cd 'C:\Users\ec\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects' But, when I try to use cdp, I get this: Cannot resolve alias 'cdp' because it refers to term 'cd 'C:\Users\ec\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects'', which is not recognized as a cmdlet, function, operable program, or script file. Verify the term and try again. At line:1 char:4 + cdp <<<<  + CatergoryInfo   : ObjectNotFound (dsp:String) [], CommandNotFoundException  + FullyQualifiedErrorId   : AliasNotResolvedException I am guessing that this is trivially easy. So I apologize in advance if that is the case. I have googled and googled and have also read through Windows PowerShell Cookbook.

  • sudo: apache restarting a service on CentOS

    - by WaveyDavey
I need my web app to restart the dansguardian service (on CentOS) so it needs to run '/sbin/service dansguardian restart' I have a shellscript in /home/topological called apacherestart.sh which does the following: #!/bin/sh id=`id` /sbin/service dansguardian restart r=$? return $r This runs ok (logger statement in script for testing output to syslog, so I know it's running) To make it run, I put this in /etc/sudoers: User_Alias APACHE=www # Cmnd alias specification Cmnd_Alias HTTPRESTART=/home/topological/apacherestart.sh,/sbin/e-smith/db,/etc/rc7.d/S91dansguardian # Defaults specification # User privilege specification root ALL=(ALL) ALL APACHE ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: HTTPRESTART So far so good. But the service does not restart. To test this I created a user david, and fudged the uid/gid in /etc/passwd to be the same as www: www:x:102:102:e-smith web server:/home/e-smith:/bin/false david:x:102:102:David:/home/e-smith/files/users/david:/bin/bash then logged in as david and tried to run the apacherestart.sh. The problem I get is: /etc/rc7.d/S91dansguardian: line 51: /sbin/e-smith/db: Permission denied even though S91dansguardian and db are in the sudoers command list. Any ideas?

  • Why does Ubuntu's Nautilus display a folder called "Examples" while the console displays "examples.desktop"

    - by broiyan
These folders occur at /home/username. How does this name discrepancy arise? (Uppercase E versus lowercase e.) It seems to be a shortcut to /usr/share/example-content. How can I delete /usr/share/example-content/Ubuntu_Free_Culture_Showcase without using the command line? One possible answer is to make a privileged Nautilus using something like these SUSE instructions (link below). Unfortunately "gnomesu nautilus" gives me a "gnomesu: no such file" message and "sudo nautilus" does not do anything when added to the properties of the Launcher. Update: "sudo nautilus" from the console let's me delete but there is a mess of error messages. http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/how-faq-forums/unreviewed-how-faq/426153-how-nautilus-super-user-mode-gnome.html

  • Resolving “ssl handshake failure” error in PostgresQL

    - by Mitch
I would like to connect to my Postgres 8.3 database using SSL from my XP client using OpenSSL. This works fine without SSL. When I try it with SSL (no client certificate), I get the error: error:140790E5:SSL routines:SSL23_WRITE:ssl handshake failure I have followed the instructions in the Postgres manual for SSL including creating a self-signed certificate. In my pg_hba.conf there is a line: host dbname loginname 123.45.67.89/32 md5 The version of OpenSSL on the server is 0.9.8g and on the client is 0.9.8j. I'd appreciate any suggestions for tracking down the problem. • Opensuse 11.1 KDE4 Dropbox autostart issue

    - by OpensuseNewbie
I am using KDE4 with the lastest version of opensuse, and I want to autostart everytime I turn on my computer. I followed this website: http://antrix.net/journal/techtalk/dropbox%5Fkde.html I got dropbox to work and everything is fine. I created a symlink to the dropboxd file to my ~/.kde4/AUtostart, but does not work. The command line I used to create the symlink is: ln -s ~/.dropbox-dist/dropdoxd ~/.kde4/Autostart/ I've check the symlink itself to see where it "pointed to" in it's properties, and it was the right file. The drobox-dist folder is in my /home/"username", and the dropboxd does work. I've tried using "sudo ln -s ~/.dropbox-dist/dropdoxd ~/.kde4/Autostart/" but no symlink was created. I've checked other blogs and they all say the same things to make dropbox to autostart up, yet it is not working. Does anyone know what's wrong?

  • Problem with shared ssh keys

    - by warren
Following the process I've used in other environments (http://www.trilug.org/pipermail/trilug/Week-of-Mon-20080602/054712.html), I've tried setting-up shared keys between my Mac and my CentOS 4 webserver. I've seen the same problem with my older Ubuntu 7.10 workstation trying to connect via keys to the same webserver. I have tried both dsa and rsa keytypes (sshkeygen -t <type>). The sshd_config file on my webserver seems to be allowing key-based logins: RSAAuthentication yes PubkeyAuthentication yes AuthorizedKeysFile .ssh/authorized_keys And my .ssh/authorized_keys has my dsa and rsa keys added. Where should I be looking for what to change next to make key-based logins "Just Work™"? Is it related to the line #UseDNS yes and sshd is trying to do a reverse-lookup on my IP, but cannot because it's NAT'd?

  • FTP ASCII file from Windows to Mainframe (iSeries) — special characters

    - by MikeM
I have a text file created on a Windows machine, the page coding used on the file is 1252 This file is then ftp'd to an iSeries machine for processing As far as I can see, it appears on the iSeries. It has a CCSID of 037. Sometimes this file contains French characters (e.g. é). When this happens, the FTP will fail with a truncation error as the french character gets converted to some extra junk: . The file is fixed block so the line does get truncated due to the one character turning into 3. I can convert the French characters to characters without the accents before sending but would prefer to keep everything intact. So is there a way to retain them and send the file over properly? I'm very green on iSeries, mainly a Windows guy.

I'm trying to configure SVN server on OS X 10.6.2 via Apache2. Whenever I enable the module in Wev - Settings - Services then try accessing the site, it fails. What the heck. :-( Thanks in advance, Dave

  • How do I elevate privileges when running appcmd from a nant task?

    - by Rune
We are using a Windows 7 box as build server. As part of our continuous integration process I would like to stop and start an IIS 7 website. I have tried doing this from the command line using appcmd: appcmd start site "my website" However, this only works if I start the console window by choosing "Run as Administrator", so it won't work out-of-the-box from NAnt etc. How do I script appcmd to be run with elevated privileges (or am I going about this in the wrong way)? Thank you.
