  • Sending JSON content type in from JavaScript objects ( jQuery ajax )

    - by smartnut007
    I am having trouble sending JavaScript objects as a http request that only accepts json content-type. i.e "application/json" or "text/json" But, I am not sure why data2 ( stringified json ) works fine But, data1 ( json object ) does throws 400 ( Bad Request ). i.e I am not sure jQuery does not serialize the json object to a valid json string for the server to process. var data1 = ({ rating : 3 }); //does not work var data2 = '{ "rating" : 3}'; //works fine $.ajax({ url : "/rate", data : data1, type : "POST", contentType: "application/json", success: function(json){ console.log("Ajax Return :"+json); } });

  • Asp.Net - Can a LinkButton.CommandArgument be typed?

    - by Stimul8d
Okay so given a LinkButton inside a the ItemTemplate of a Repeater declared like this - <asp:LinkButton ID="restrictionDelete" runat="server" CssClass="restrictionDelete" Text="Delete..." OnCommand="lnkDeleteRestriction_Command" CommandName="Delete" CommandArgument="<%# Container.DataItem %>"></asp:LinkButton> Now,..the repeater is being bound to a list of Restriction objects so when the lnkDeleteRestriction_Command is fired I'm expecting that I can cast the CommandEventArgs.CommandArgument which is an object to my Restriction type. This doesn't seem to be so,..I just get the fully qualified type name as a string. Can I receive a typed command argument at all and if not, why is it an object? Thanks in advance,

  • PHP class referencing confusion across multiple files

    - by DssTrainer
I have an index.php file that has 3 includes <?php require_once('mod.php'); $mod = new Mod(); require_once('start.php'); require_once('tools.php'); ....some code.... ?> I need to be able to reference the $mod object inside the start.php and tools.php. How do I pass that object to be referenced by those 2 other require files? Basically the mod.php is a class that has an array list generated in its __construct(). I want to use that array list data inside the startup.php and tools.php file but not sure how to pass in the existing one without calling "new" inside both of those files separately which doesn't do what I need since it resets everything. Thanks!

  • Showing/Hiding the main form in C#

    - by DazSlayer
I am working on a program where clicking on a button on form1 will open form2. I will then hide form1 until form2 is closed. The problem I have is that I cannot get form1 to show after form2 closes. Any ideas on how to fix this? try { Form1.ActiveForm.Hide(); AddGradeForm = new Form2(Form.NumberOfSelections); AddGradeForm.ShowDialog(); MessageBox.Show(AddGradeForm.Result.ToString()); } catch (Exception i) { Form1.ActiveForm.Hide(); AddGradeForm.Dispose(); AddGradeForm = new Form2(Form.NumberOfSelections); AddGradeForm.ShowDialog(); MessageBox.Show(AddGradeForm.Result.ToString()); } Form1.ActiveForm.Show(); ERROR: NullReferenceException was unhanded. • [Flash 3d engine] Away3d and events (Basic questions)

    - by Simon
I'd like to play around 3d in Flash and I'm wondering how sophisticated objects can i load from 3D Max... cos as i read it's possible to load something from 3d Max I've read that popular 3d engine is Away3d (many tutorials), so if there is nothing better... i'd like to focus on it. I've forgot to mention that i'm not familar with Flash, but the best way to learn something is to do something interesting with it... :) Main question: Can I load object from 3ds and link parts of this object to some actions in Flash. Better example: I'd like to load a Car and when user click on car's door i'd like to show some informations, about those door, or pass this event outside for example to any other application in PHP, Java etc... and when he click on car mask i'd like to raise other event... Is it possible to create such interaction?? Thx in advance :)

  • Marking "example usage" in code documentation

    - by Ross
What the best practice of placing example usage in code documentation? Is there a standardised way? With an @usage or @notes? For example: /** * My Function * @param object id anObject * @usage a code example here... */ function foo(id) { } or /** * My Function * @param object id anObject * @notes a code example here, maybe? */ function foo(id) { } I know this question should dependent on the documentation generator, but any heads up appreciated... I'm trying to get into the habit of using proper style. When time allow I'll get more into the generators. (I've experimented with Doxygen.) I often use AS3, JS, Obj-C, C++. Thanks

  • How can I associate .sh files with Cygwin?

    - by Jerph
I'd like to run a long rsync command in Cygwin by double clicking on a .sh file in Windows. It must start in the file's containing directory (e.g. /cygdrive/c/scripts/) so that relative paths work. Anyone gotten this to work? Note: I've just found chere, a Cygwin package that manages Windows context menus (Bash Prompt Here). It might have some clues.

  • Rails: Generic form actions, cancel link losing `:back` on validation failure

    - by Patrick Connor
I am trying to create a generic set of Submit, Cancel, and Destroy actions for forms. At this point, it appears that everything is working, except that I lose :back functionality then a form reloads due to validation errors. Is there a way to catch the fact that validation has failed, and in that case, keep the request.env['HTTP_REFERER'] or :back value the same without having to edit every controller? = simple_form_for @announcement do |f| = f.error_notification = f.input :message = f.input :starts_at = f.input :ends_at #submit = f.button :submit = "or " = link_to("cancel", url_for(:back)) .right - if !f.object.new_record? - resource = (f.object.class.name).downcase = link_to "destroy", url_for(:action => 'destroy'), :confirm => "Are you sure that you want to delete this #{resource}?", :method => :delete .clear .non_input #post_back_msg #indicator.inline = image_tag "indicator.gif" .inline = "Please wait..." .non_input

  • Parsing timestamp with retarded Python

    - by jellybean
I want to parse a timestamp from a log file that has been written via datetime.datetime.now().strftime('%Y%m%d%H%M%S') and then compute the number of seconds that have passed since this timestamp. I know I could do it with datetime.datetime.strptime to get back a datetime object and then compute a timedelta. Problem is, the strptime function has been introduced with Python 2.5 and I'm using Python2.4.4 (an upgrade is not possible in my context). Any easy way to do this?

  • Is there an ORM that allows a "plugin" to extend the database?

    - by IP
So, I've been searching for the answer to this, but I can't find anything I have an Entity Framework Model (MyModel1) - for now, we'll say this contains a "Users" table It's part of a big app, that has a references to an "Addresses" project The addresses project contains an Entity Framework Model (MyModel2), this contains a Users table, and an Addresses table (pointing to the same database. The main app has a control that edits the user, and in that control it has an "addresses" control which actually exists in the "Addresses" project. To make this work, the User control passes the User object down to the addresses control, however, as the User that's been passed belongs to MyModel1 and not MyModel2, another User object has to be loaded up, then it can be used. This isn't ideal as I've had to load up the User twice. Is there a way of say, MyModel2 extending MyModel1, which effectively just adds a relationship to "User". Or is there an ORM that would handle this better? Or even a design pattern that would handle this better?

  • how to select specific number of child entities instead of all in entity framework 3.5?

    - by Sasha
Hi all, i am wondering how can i select specific number of child objects instead of taking them all with include? lets say i have object 'Group' and i need to select last ten students that joined the group. When i use '.Include("Students"), EF includes all students. I was trying to use Take(10), but i am pretty new to EF and programming as well, so i couldn't figure it out. Any suggestions? UPDATED: ok, i have Group object already retrieved from db like this: Group group = db.Groups.FirstOrDefault(x=>x.GroupId == id) I know that i can add Include("Students") statement, but that would bring ALL students, and their number could be quite big whether i need only freshest 10 students. Can i do something like this: var groupWithStudents = group.Students.OrderByDescending(//...).Take(10);? The problem with this is that Take< no longer appears in intellisense. Is this clear enough? Thanks for responses

  • Questions Regarding Handling of Received SMS

    - by Edwin
Hi, i have managed to successfully write a little test app that can receive and send SMS, but got a couple of questions. (That's 'cos part of the code i copied from elsewhere and i would like to understand better). In my AndroidManifest as well as the sub-class of BroadcastReceiver, there is reference to the string literal "android.provider.Telephony.SMS_RECEIVED". However, i couldn't find any reference in the API that mentions this. Could someone point me to some reference that lists/explains these? As part of getting the message from the Intent, i did this: Object[] pdus = (Object[]) intent.getExtras().get("pdus"); Again this question is related to the use of hardcoded string literal. Where is the string "pdus" listed and described? Thanks in advance!

  • How do I search the MediaStore for a specific directory instead of entire external storage?

    - by Nick Lopez
In my app I have an option that allows users to browse for audio files on their phone to add to the app. I am having trouble however with creating a faster way of processing the query code. Currently it searches the entire external storage and causes the phone to prompt a force close/wait warning. I would like to take the code I have posted below and make it more efficient by either searching in a specific folder on the phone or by streamlining the process to make the file search quicker. I am not sure how to do this however. • Setting location based on previous parameter of $routeChangeError with AngularJS

    - by Moo
I'm listening on events of the type $routeChangeError in a run block of my application. $rootScope.$on("$routeChangeError", function (event, current, previous, rejection) { if (!!previous) { console.log(previous); $location.path(previous.$$route.originalPath); } }); With the help of the previous parameter I would like to set the location to the previous page. This works as long as the "originalPath" of "previous.$$route" does not contain any parameters. If it contains parameters the "originalPath" is not transformed. Logging the previous objects returns the following output: $$route: Object ... originalPath: "/users/:id" regexp: /^\/users\/(?:([^\/]+)?)$/ ... params: Object id: "3" How can I set the location to the previous path including the parameters?

  • PropertyInfo.GetValue() - how do you index into a generic parameter using reflection in C#?

    - by flesh
This (shortened) code.. for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) { object obj = propertyInfo.GetValue(Tcurrent, new object[] { i }); } .. is throwing a 'TargetParameterCountException : Parameter count mismatch' exception. The underlying type of 'propertyInfo' is a Collection of some T. 'count' is the number of items in the collection. I need to iterate through the collection and perform an operation on obj. Advice appreciated.

  • Writing jQuery functions that allow chaining.

    - by Rich Bradshaw
I want to write some code that allows me to replace jQuery's animate function with one that does different things, but still allows me to call a secondary function on completion. At the moment, I'm writing lots of code like this; if (cssTransitions) { $("#content_box").css("height",0); window.setTimeout(function() { secondFunction(); }, 600); } else { $("#content_box").animate({ height:0 }, 600, function() { secondFunction(); }); } I'd much rather write a function that looks like this: function slideUpContent(object) { if (cssTransitions) { object.css("height",0); // Not sure how I get a callback here } else { $("#content_box").animate({ height:0 }, 600, function() { }); } } That I could use like this: slideUpContent("#content_box", function(){ secondFunction(); }); But I'm not sure how to get the functionality I need - namely a way to run another function once my one has completed. Can anyone help my rather addled brain?

  • How to instantiate a Singleton multiple times?

    - by Sebi
I need a singleton in my code. I implemented it in Java and it works well. The reason I did it, is to ensure that in a mulitple environment, there is only one instance of this class. But now I want to test my Singleton object locally with a Unit test. For this reason I need to simulate another instance of this Singleton (the object that would be from another device). So is there a possiblity to instantiate a Singleton a second time for testing purpose or do I have to mock it? I'm not sure, but I think it could be possible by using a different class loader?

  • Will lock() statement block all threads in the proccess/appdomain?

    - by MikeJ
Maybe the question sounds silly, but I don't understand 'something about threads and locking and I would like to get a confirmation (here's why I ask). So, if I have 10 servers and 10 request in the same time come to each server, that's 100 request across the farm. Without locking, thats 100 request to the database. If I do something like this: private static readonly object myLockHolder = new object(); if (Cache[key] == null) { lock(myLockHolder) { if (Cache[key] == null) { Cache[key] = LengthyDatabaseCall(); } } } How many database requests will I do? 10? 100? Or as much as I have threads?

  • What causes VB6 "Run-Time Error '5': Invalid Procedure Call or Argument"

    - by cundh2o
In VB6, users occasionally receive this error and I am unable to reproduce it. Run-Time Error '5': Invalid Procedure Call or Argument I am referencing the "MSWord 10 Object Library" and sometimes this error occurs at some point after the application has opened MSWord 2002. However, this app has referenced the MSWord 10 Object Library for years, and this error just started occurring in the last few months. I am assuming I have introduced a bug somewhere, but no idea what might be causing it. The error does not occur very often and cannot be reproduced by a user when I am standing there. The error forces the app to totally shut down. Users are running Windows XP

  • System.NullReferenceException with WhoCanHelpMe Unit Test

    - by tlum
I'm working with a test project based on WhoCanHelpMe, which is based on Sharp Architecture, NHibernateValidator, etc. As its written the when_the_profile_tasks_is_asked_to_create_a_profile unit test creates the profile object and saves it without issue. Now the profile object is a CreateProfileDetails type that derives from their own ValidatableValueObject which inherits the IValidatable interface. The problem surfaces when my class is based on an Entity rather than their ValidatableValueObject. When the test is run a System.NullReferenceException because Validate() is null. I'm afraid that I'm at a loss to resolve this bad behavior. Does anyone have some suggestions to get to the bottom of this? Thanks, -Ted-

  • How do I create a create and execute an SQL command using OleDB directly?

    - by Pagis
I want to use the OleDB interfaces directly to open a connection to a DB, create a command and executing it (for example using the ICommandText interface). The main thing I can't find is how to create the connection and the command object and how to connect the object that implements the ICommandText to the connection. In ADO I would just use the ActiveConnection property but I want to do this directly on the OleDB interfaces. Also, if anyone can recommend a tutorial to OleDB, ether online or a book, free or not that would be great (but a tutorial and not just a reference / API) I'm using C++ but any native code would be fine.
