• Filtering ToDo List in Outlook 2010 with multiple Exchange accounts

  I'm trying to figure out how to get the ToDo list filtered for just one account? I've tried customizing the view, and using the advanced filter to get just one Oulook Data file, but once I do that the filter goes bonkers and I get all sorts of results! I know it's a combination of email flags and true tasks, and tried combining filters to pull those conditions together, and simply can't get it to cooperate. Before 2010, when the only way to get multiple mailboxes was to add additional mailboxes to the primary account, the task list pulled from just the primary account - but of course, the secondary accounts are not cached and available offline.

• Win8 x64 Laptop (Samsung) unable to boot after installing Ubuntu

  I posted here a while back and no one was able to help me so I am going to try to explain my problem better. I have a Samsung series 7 Ultrabook and I connected a USB optical drive with an Ubuntu 14.04 installation disc. I did not set or change any of my partitions, however, as I mainly wanted to just be able to boot from the disc and fool around with Ubuntu. Upon restarting my computer I get a blue-screen message saying: Recovery Your PC needs to be repiared The Boot configuration date file is missing some required information. File: \BCD Error Code: 0xc000000d You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installing media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer. However I am never given the option to even try to boot to anything. When I turn my computer on the optical drive spins and then after a moment or two comes to a halt. I turned off safeboot and switched it to CSM (I believe that is what it is called) mode, and that makes it so when I turn my computer on it takes me to a Windows Recovery screen. I am able to change the date I want to recover and view all the applications installed, however upon recovering Windows says "All boot options are tried. Press key to recover with factory image using Recovery or any other keys for next boot loop iteration." It seems to be stuck in a loop. Can someone please help me?! I'm so confused and nothing is working!

• Is there a way to get the size of Outlook Calendar meeting items?

  In our Exchange environment, our company caps the size of an Exchange account at a certain size. That size is the sum of all the exchange related stuff stored on the server - includign both the Inbox and the Calendar. I can tell with the Mailbox properties, Folder Size... window that my Calendar is a good 50% of my account's footprint. Is there any way to get a more detailed view of what meetings in the Calendar are taking up the space? Given the general pattern of incoming mail, it's my belief that 2-5 meetings are responsible for 75% of the memory consumption... I just need to find which meetings are the problem... and with my current calendar, it's a bit like finding a needle in a haystack. Anyone got a trick for this?

• How can I remove unwanted cropped pages from Acrobat

  Executing the crop command in Acrobat from a 3000pt * 2000pt document to 1500pt*1800pt only hides the document outside of the new boundaries but the original document still remains without change; if anyone uses the touch-up tool and moves the content, all "hidden" information outside the cropped page may appear again by dragging it into view. The page acting as a window (or a mask) to display the 3000pt * 2000pt. I am wondering if there is a solution to crop permanently the document without reprinting it again into PDF file? • Impact of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) on Business and IT Operations

  The impact of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) on business and IT operations varies from company to company. I think more and more companies are starting to view SOA as just another technology that they can incorporate in an existing or new system. One of the driving factors in using SOA is the reduction in maintenance costs and decrease in the time needed to bring products to market. The reductions in costs, and reduced turnaround time can be directly converted in to increased profitability due to less expenditures that are needed in order to maintain or create new systems. My personal perspective on SOA is that it is great for what it is actually intended to do. SOA allows systems to be distributed across networks or even the world while ensuring enterprise processing consistency, data integrity and preventing code duplication. This being said a lot of preparation and work goes into properly designing and implementing an SOA especially if an enterprise wants to take full advantage of its benefits. Even though SOA has recently gotten a lot of hype about its benefits it does not a perfect fit for all situations. At the end of the day SOA is just another tool in my tool belt that I can pull from to create solutions that meet the business’s needs. Based on current industry trends SOA appears to be a very solid technology to use moving forward, especially as more and more companies shift towards cloud based computing. It is important to remember that SOA is one of many technologies that can be used in creating business solutions and I think more time will be spent in the future evaluating if SOA is the right technology for a solution once the initial hype of SOA has calmed down.

• Why blogger puts BR tags only when content served via RSS feed?

  I have a problem with using my new blog RSS feed. I wrote a post (the first one) with some code examples formatted by SyntaxHighlighter. To paste a code sample I'm switching from WYSIWYG to HTML view and put the code inside pre tag like this (don't worry, h4 tag was opened a line above the screenshot area): The problem is that such pre tag, when later accessed via RSS feed contains br tags instead of new line characters. Below is screenshot of the adequate RSS source code: What's most important when accessed via www, the post html is formatted fine, no brs inside pre. I verified that by downloading the blog post with wget. So I believe this isn't SyntaxHighlighter issue nor any 'new line' formatting on blog post save. This is a real problem as I want aggregate my blog on employers blog and all formatting of code examples is broken because of that. The base question is: how to get rid of those unwanted brs served via RSS? What's strangest friend of mine also uses blogger for such aggregation and he has no such issue. I checked his RSS feed and there are no brs inside pre tags. We also compared settings of our blogs. However we have found no clue. The blog post RSS for the blog (just check source and search for string: pre class="brush) Mentioned friend's blog Last thing: I see content served from RSS is now also html encoded. If I remember well, it wasn't previously.

• Marking Discussions as Answered

  As a contributor to a number of projects on CodePlex I really like the fact that the discussions feature exists but also I need ways to help me sort the discussions threads so I can make sure no-one is getting forgotten about. Seems like a lot of you agreed as the feature request Provide feature to allow Coordinators to mark Discussions threads as 'Answered' is our number 2 voted feature right now with 178 votes.  Today we rolled out the first iteration of “answer” support to discussions. In this first iteration we wanted to keep it simple and lightweight. The original poster of the thread along with project owners, developers or editors can mark any post to the thread as an answer. You can have any number of answers marked in a thread and it’s very quick to mark or unmark a post as an answer.  We deliberately keep the answers in the originally posted order so that you can see them in context with the discussion thread. When viewing discussions the default view is still to see everything, but you can easily filter by “Unanswered”.  You can even save that as a bookmark so as someone interested in the project can quickly jump to the unanswered discussion threads to go help out on. As I mention, we kept this first pass of the answering feature as simple and as lightweight as possible so that we can get some feedback on it. Head on over to the issue tracking this feature if you have any thoughts once you have used it for a bit or feel free to respond in the comments. I already have a couple of things I think we want to do such as a refresh of the look and feel of discussions in general along, make it easier to navigate to posts that are marked an answered and surface posts that you do that were marked as answered in your profile page - but if you have ideas then please let us know.

And when I use browse function in IIS manager to browse the html file, I met with the following error, any ideas what is wrong? • I cannot access my flickr account

  I was using Google account to log in to my Flickr. After several days, I entered into the Flickr account and found out that Flickr is moving into only Yahoo login. So I tried the Google login and it shows This account is not connected with any Yahoo account. Sign up for new........ or use existing etc... Can't remember the exact words. So I provided my Yahoo mail credentials. Now every time it is giving me a brand new account, rather taking me to my previous Flickr account. I can view the previous account photos, but After going there, it treated me as a outsider. New account showing me that I've not uploaded any photo. What's wrong? How can I connect with my previous account?

• Troubleshooting web page load issues

  I having an odd issue where a particular page doesn't finish loading... all the time. Intermittenly, this page doesn't finish loading - in particluar, it seems maybe the JS file isn't downloaded or finished loading. Marchelos Law I am not sure how to troubleshoot this issue, since refreshing it fixes it. I see it mostly in IE 7 & 8, rarely in Safari or FireFox. If you view the page in question, refreshing it - you should see the issue. Any ideas?

• Why doesn't my Nvidia driver support 1280*1024?

  EDIT: I think the problem is in the NVIDIA x server, that doesn't support an RGB screen from 1990. The screen was the best of them all when it was released. This a strange thing! In windows the EDID must work because 1280*1024 is used as max resolution, but in ubuntu those stuff aren't being received, so how do I tell ubuntu/nivida to find those EDID stuff? Hi, I have an external monitor which is an 20" 1280*1024. In windows 7 it works fine with that resolution but in ubuntu it can't. The screens model name is IntelliColor Display/20 and the name of the company is "radius".recived Well, twin view is working but the only maximum resolution is 1024*768. I'm using nividas x server program. • [linux] preventing access in shared hosting

  Hi Linux Admins I set up a small shared hosting that contains some sites. For each site, there is a user. I mean, for abcd.com, I created abcd.com user and put htdocs for web hosting. I have no idea on how to prevent abcd.com from accessing xyzd.com's data. I have chmoded by changing 0 to others permission, which makes access defined by Apache when I view it with browser. How can I secure access? Thanks.

• Mousin' down the PathListBox

  While modifying the standard media player with a new look and feel for Ineta Live I saw a unique opportunity to use their logo with a dotted I with and attached arc as the scrub control. So I created a PathListBox that I wanted an object to follow when a user did a click and drag action.  Below is how I solved the problem.  Please let me know if you have improvements or know of a completely different way.  I am always eager to learn. First, I created a path using the pen tool in Expression Blend (see the yellow line in image below).  Then I right clicked that path and chose [Path] --> [Make Layout Path].   That created a new PathListBox.  Then I chose the object I want to move down the new PathListBox and Placed it as a child in the Objects and Timeline window (see image below).  If the child object (the thing the user will click and drag) is XAML, it will move much smoother than images. Just as another side note, I wanted there to be no highlight when the user selects the “ball” to drag and drop.  This is done by editing the ItemContainerStyle under Additional Templates on the PathListBox.  Post a question if you need help on this and I will expand my explanation. Here is a pic of the object and the path I wanted it to follow.  I gave the path a yellow solid brush here so you could see it but when I lay this over another object, I will make the path transparent.   To animate this object down the path, the trick is to animate the Start number for the LayoutPath.  Not the StartItemIndex, the Start above Span. • How do I create an efficient long, pannable, sprite-animated scene in a Windows Store game?

  I am creating my first Windows Store application in XAML, and I cannot seem to find a proper example for the requirements I have. The basic idea of the app is to have a large scrollable canvas which would lazily start animating visible parts of the view as soon as user stops panning over a certain content (with some audio played also): My original idea was to use a StackPanel to add a bunch of custom controls, each of which would then animate itself once visible (with a short delay), but I have a couple of concerns: If the entire canvas is ~50 screen widths wide, is it feasible to load all content at the beginning, or do I need to plan doing some lazy loading during scrolling? For example, when I select a certain region in the Bing Travel app, it seems to lazily load tiles as I scroll it towards the end. Since content is stretched 100% vertically, and these animations are vectorized to be resolution independent, I am not sure if XAML (CompositionTarget) will be able to handle this, or I have to go for DirectX (MonoGame or C++) to get rid of flicker. Even better, is there an example for Windows 8 which uses a 100% vertically sized GridView with custom animated controls inside?

  Is there a way to increase how much is cached for thumbnail views of pictures? If I'm looking through a folder of .png files for example, with "medium" set as the view size. The screen will eventually fill all the thumbnails with the appropriate pictures. But as I scroll down it takes a while for the pictures to fill in again. I would like a way for "off screen" pictures to fill in before I get the that section of the screen. Is there a way to do this? Thanks

• InnoDb Overhead?

  I just converted several large tables from MyISAM to InnoDB. When I view the tables in phpMyAdmin, they are showing a significant amount of overhead (One table has 6.8GB). Optimizing the tables (which isn't a supported command on InnoDB) has no affect like it does on MyISAM. Is this a result of InnoDB having the ever growing data file that never returns space even after deletes? If that's the case, I've never seen overhead like this before from other InnoDB tables. • Firefox 11 Bookmarks Toolbar too Tall

  After updating to Firefox 11, my Bookmarks Toolbar is unpleasantly tall. This link implies that it's due to the presence of separators in my toolbar. I tried adding the suggested CSS in post 5 to my userChrome.css file, but this did nothing. I have also tried #PersonalToolbar {max-height:10px !important;} But this simply truncates the bottom of the toolbar. Does anyone know how to change the size of the bookmarks toolbar to match Firefox 10? More info: Here is a screenshot of my Bookmarks Toolbar. I'm using OSX 10.6.8 with the default theme. I have "View Toolbars Customize Use small icons" enabled. I'm also using the LiveClick 0.4.2.0 extension, but disabling it does not fix the issue.

• Strange Phantom Local Disks appearing in my drive list...

  Win7 Home Prem 32 bit I seem to have several phantom Local Disks mapped to different letters, they are of 0 bytes in size? Strangely they do not show up when i view my drives through windows explorer but if i open an application such as ACDSee Pro or MS Word and then go to open a file i can see all these Local Disks mapped to different letters. This means when i plug in my external hard disk it ends up mapped to letter R instead of its usual G which messes up any programs i have pointing to it by default. How did they get there and more importantly how do i get rid of them please??

• MS Word showing unwanted table borders on screen (but not on print preview)

  I have a MS Word document with a number of tables. The other day when I created it, the tables all had no borders. Today, I opened it up to find that the tables did have borders. However, when I check the border properties on each table, it says that there are no borders. The tables are displayed with cell borders in all view modes except for the reading layout, and they do not show up on print preview. As this document is going to generally be for on-screen viewing, I need to get rid of the borders. How can I accomplish this? (this is a MS Word 2003 *.doc document, in MS Word 2003, which has been the only editor involved.)
