  • How can I make a view start in landscape?

    I have read a few questions about an app doing it through the info file but not a certain view. I just need the interface to be set up to start in landscape view. I managed to get near what I want with shouldAutoRotateToInterfaceOrientation:, but it only works after I rotate the view. I am kinda new to the documentation on this so I may be looking in the wrong places for this. Any help is appreciated.

    I'm looking to create emails, mainly HTML, based on templates - I'd really like to do something like: Set up my template, as an HTML (or similar) file Include tags, that are then replaced with specific data (kind of like mail-merge....) It also is saying that string is undeclared identifier, even though I have #include <string> at the top of the h file. Do you see something I am doing wrong?   • How can I test a CRON job with PHP?

    This is the first time I've ever used a CRON. I'm using it to parse external data that is automatically FTP'd to a subdirectory on our site. I have created a controller and model which handles the data. I can access the URL fine in my browser and it works (however I will be restricting this soon). My problem is, how can I test if it's working? I've added this to my controller for a quick and dirty log $file = 'test.txt'; $contents = ''; if (file_exists($file)) { $contents = file_get_contents($file); } $contents .= date('m-d-Y') . ' --- ' . PHP_SAPI . "\n\n"; file_put_contents($file, $contents); But so far only got requests logged from myself from the browser, despite having my CRON running ever minute. 03-18-2010 --- cgi-fcgi 03-18-2010 --- cgi-fcgi I've set it up using cPanel with the command index.php properties/update/ the 2nd portion is what I use to access the page in my browser. So how can I test this is working properly, and have I stuffed anything up? Note: I'm using Kohana 3. Many thanks

    Hey All, Im trying to query the Netflix OData feed. I have the following query that works fine in LinqPad: from g in Genres from t in g.Titles where g.Name == "Horror" && t.AverageRating == 2 && t.ReleaseYear == 2004 select t But, when I move it over to my Silverlight app, the user selects what to search on so I may or may not have all of the params. That being the case, I need to construct the query at runtime. Ive looked the the Dynamic Query stuff and that will do fine...the issue that I have is that I need an initial acceptable query to append to and this doesn't fly: from g in Genres from t in g.Titles select t; Any additional thoughts would be appreciated.     If you ask a DB2/zOS engine DBA a question about DB2's behavior, the DBA will refer to the DB2 engine as "he" much the way a sailor uses "she" to refer to his ship. For example: "Once you fill the freespace, DB2 still wants to keep those rows in cluster order in the tablespace. That's why he'll split that page in half, and you end up with lots of half-empty pages. That is, unless the cluster key of the row you've just inserted is the highest in the table, in which case he makes a new empty page, and he puts just your new row into that page. So I wouldn't have to do this REORG if you would just sort your input like I suggested." Does anyone know where this tradition comes from?

  • Performance of fopen vs stat

    Hello, I'm writing several C programs for an embedded system where every bit of performance we can squeeze out will matter. Part of that is accessing log files. When determining if a file exists, is there any performance difference between using open / fopen, and stat ? I've been using stat on the assumption that it only has to do a quick check against the file system, whereas fopen would have to actually gain access to a file and manipulate internal data structures before returning. Is there any merit to this ?

  • Can't concatenate 2 arrays in PHP

    I've recently learned how to join 2 arrays using the + operator in PHP. But consider this code... $array = array('Item 1'); $array += array('Item 2'); var_dump($array); Output is array(1) { [0]= string(6) "Item 1" } Why does this not work? Skipping the shorthand and using $array = $array + array('Item 2') does not work either. Does it have something to do with the keys?

  • Kohana 3 and CRON always accessing index.php (not following the URI argument)

    OK, I hope this is my last question about CRON jobs and Kohana 3. Note: others are not duplicates, just other problems. Here is my CRON job (setup in cPanel) php /home/user/public_html/index.php --uri=properties/update As per this answer. I have set it up so it emails me the output. It is running every 5 mins. Unfortunately, it always emails me the source of the home page of my site (index.php or /). I can access that URL fine in my browser, i.e. http://www.example.com/properties/update and it works and does it's job correctly. I can tell the Cron is never hitting the script because I have a file logger in place. Would this have anything to do with .htaccess? Has this happened to anyone before, and how did they fix it?     I need some scripts inside an existing site's scripts.js. This site has been online for ages, and I can not touch the scripts file. I am including it standardly in another page. There are numerous jQuery calls in the scripts file. The place I include it does not have jQuery. I want to void all $() type things. I tried this... $ = function() { }; before I included scripts.js and it didn't seem to work. I am still getting errors like $(document) is undefined Is there a way to void all these jQuery calls?   • Trouble getting Flash socket policy file to work.

    Basically I'm using Flash to connect to a Java server. Despite my Java application replying to the , in the Flash debug log it lists (not sure about the order as there are lots): * Security Sandbox Violation * Connection to 192.168.1.86:4049 halted - not permitted from http://127.0.0.1:8888/Current/wander.swf Warning: Timeout on xmlsocket://192.168.1.86:4049 (at 3 seconds) while waiting for socket policy file. This should not cause any problems, but see http://www.adobe.com/go/strict_policy_files for an explanation. Error: Request for resource at xmlsocket://192.168.1.86:4049 by requestor from http://127.0.0.1:8888/Current/wander.swf is denied due to lack of policy file permissions. What I don't understand is, the server (port 4049) receives the request, outputs the policy file and then closes the connection, surely it shouldn't time out? The policy file I'm using is: <?xml version="1.0"?> <cross-domain-policy><allow-access-from domain="*" to-ports="*" /> </cross-domain-policy>

    Is it possible to turn result sets obtained in LINQ through a stored procedure or function call into a "live" set of objects of which I can retrieve Foreign Key related objects? If, for example, my stored procedure returns a set of rows (= LINQ objects) of type "Contact", then I can't seem to obtain Contact.BillingAddress (which is related by Foreign Key). Any idea how to make this work?

Now I have a problem that I done four joins of child table to parent table because I need to get these four fields. Some optimization is for sure possible. I would like to be able to modify this query in easy way when I add new field (key,value). What is the best way to do this? To create some StoreProcedure? I would like to have strongly types in my DB layer (C#) and using LINQ (when programming) so it means when I add some new Key, Value pair in Profile table I would like to do minimal modifications in DB and C# if possible. Actually I am trying to get some best practices in this case.

  • Sql Server 2008 Cross-database table linking (relationships)

    Hi guys, I have a bit of an issue, and to be honest I don't think there's an answer, but I'll give it a try anyway. So I have two databases [A]-Company and [B]-Product. Both databases have a Country table which is then linked to other tables in each individual database. The problem is that the data between the two Country tables is a complete duplicate. So, I essentially have to duplicate some of the relationships in each database, and maintenance on top of that is just difficult... So, I'm curious is there a way to create a cross-database relationship between tables so I can have only one set of Country+Helper tables that govern both databases? Thanks in advance!

    I have a table whose columns are varchar(50) and a float - I need to (very quickly) look get the float associated with a given string. Even with indexing, this is rather slow. I know, however, that each string is associated with an integer, which I know at the time of lookup, so that each string maps to a unique integer, but each integer does not map to a unique string. One might think of it as a tree structure. Is there anything to be gained by adding this integer to the table, indexing on it, and using a query like SELECT floatval FROM mytable WHERE phrase=givenstring AND assoc=givenint? This is Postgres, and if you couldn't tell, I have very little experience with databases.
