Microsoft and Yahoo give advertisers a timeline for moving to Microsoft's ad management system in time for the holidays, but leave an out just in case the transition doesn't go as planned.
There is an Oracle roadshow about to kick off covering topics such as Cloud, Big Data and Mobile. Mobile (my area of interest) is a real hot topic in business now with many moving to a "mobile first" development approach. I'll be there talking about mobile and Oracle's solution for mobile offerings. The UK/Ireland events are in London, Manchester and Dublin. Places are of course limited but registration is open
I cannot get the screen sharing utility in ubuntu 11.10 to work properly. When I connect, I get the initial screen, but no updates. When I connect to my ubuntu box via a laptop, I can see the mouse moving, but when I click on anything, the screen does not update. I can disconnect, reconnect and then see the updated screen, but it does not automatically refresh. Is anyone else having this problem? How do I fix it?
If I have a list of positions that map out a path a character should follow. What would be the best way to move at a constant speed to each position making sure the character lands exactly at each position before moving onto the next?
For example the character is at position A, we then queue up position B and position C. The character cannot move towards position C until it reaches position B exactly.
It would be great if the solution worked at slower frame rates/update speeds as well.
Hi!
I am implementing ToolTip in Java as to make users having an easier time to use the product. Though tooltip that are at the borders of the JFrame and ends up outside the JFrame starts to "flicker". I've tried lots of things (like moving the tooltip so it should be inside the Jframe, controlling the painting so it ends up within the JFrame and so on) though it doesn't work.
Anyone got any expertise within the field that know how to avoid this problem?
Cheers,
Skarion
Moving from self-hosted to cloud-hosted e-mail services makes a lot of people nervous, but with a little planning and good communication with your user base, there's no reason it has to be hard.
So you want to write your own website? I would suggest a good web page designer and a lot of practice before moving on to a hosted web site with your own URL.
I'm buying a few C++ books after moving from Java. I obviously want to read the reference manual from the man himself, though I cannot tell the difference between these two editions. The special edition is ten pages shorter than the third edition. However, the special edition is recommended over the third edition and it seems this version covers the ASCII standard when the other edition does not.
Can anyone shed a bit of light on this?
I am trying to make an object get attached on a collision point to a circle that is rotating, but the player needs to get attached with a constant point on the player. For example the player is moving back and forth and when the user touches the screen and the player jumps up but what I need is that when the player collides with the circle it attaches it's legs to it and continues rotating with the circle. So I wanted to know how to make this kind of collision joint in cocos2d box2d?
I am creating an application from legacy code using AngularJS.
I wonder what parts of my code should be moved into a directive.
For example, iI had thought of moving a table which is used multiple times across the application into a directive. The tables alter from headings and size.
Is it worth the effort or even a good practice to turn such things into their own directives or should I create each table in a unique way?
<b>The ERACC Web Log:</b> "This is part one of a two part article about a “real life” control system that is a candidate for moving to a VM on Linux. This control system is being used right now in a real manufacturing facility."
I need an algorithm to place horizontal text labels for multiple series of points on the screen (basically I need to show timestamps and other information for a history of moving objects on a map; in general there are multiple data points per object). The text labels should appear close to their points--above, below, or on the right side--but should not overlap other points or text labels.
Does anyone know an algorithm/heuristic for this?
Cliff Godwin, Senior Vice President for Oracle's Fusion Upgrade Program Office, speaks with Fred about how Oracle can help with the overall customer experience of moving from the Applications Unlimited product lines to Fusion Applications.
During the past six months or so I have had to manage quite a lot of SQL Server migration/consolidation, and with each effort I’ve refined a checklist to try to make things go more smoothly. I just hate getting that call after a migration where something unexpected is broken :-). What follows is imperfect, but I thought I’d throw it up here anyway, if only as a starting point for other people. Some basic assumptions: I have been moving SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition and SQL Server 2000 data, so...(read more)
Cliff speaks with Nadia Bendjedou, Product Strategy Director for Oracle's Fusion Upgrade Office, about ways customers can prepare their current Oracle investment for Fusion by leveraging best practices, taking advantage of Oracle's Fusion Architecture and Fusion Middleware, and moving to SOA-based Integration.

<b>Cyber Cynic:</b> "Google's Android, the increasingly important embedded Linux, has had one major problem. It had been moving slowly away from the Linux mainstream. Now, after the recent Linux Foundation Collaboration Conference, Android and Linux are coming back together."

I’ve install the VS 2013 v3 update and then the SQL Server Data Tools - June 2013 update. I don’t think v3 is required, but it’s a good upgrade to do anyways. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ssdt/archive/2013/06/24/announcing-sql-server-data-tools-june-2013.aspx
As a DBA you always followed a practice to back up your database (or take a snapshot of your database) before making any changes so that you can revert to your old database state if something goes wrong. Also to setup a development or test environment you use a backup of your database and restore it in the respective environment. If you are moving to SQL Azure, what would you do in these cases as backup / restore and database snapshots are not supported as of now?
What is a lightweight Linux? It seems the bar keeps moving upwards. But there are still genuine lightweight Linuxes that keep good old PCs out of landfills, as Paul Ferrill discovers with Puppy Linux.

Changing web hosting companies

How can we move our domain name from 1&1's control over to our new host with as little affect (if any) on downtime for our domain name.
We've tried moving name servers before and our site went dark despite us defining all the old records on to the new name server host, now this time we're going to move the entire domain to another company but we've been bit so many times by this that I'm trying to find out what the process should be, and whether it can be done in a way to prevent down time
