I strongly prefer projects that include the authors' names.     Requirements to access Oracle stored procedures from CR The following requirements must be met in order for CR to access an Oracle stored procedure: 1. You must create a package that defines the REF CURSOR. This REF CURSOR must be strongly bound to a static pre-defined structure (see Strongly Bound REF CURSORs vs Weakly Bound REF CURSORs). This package must be created separately and before the creation of the stored procedure. NOTE Crystal Reports 9 native connections will support Oracle stored procedures created within packages as well as Oracle stored procedures referencing weakly bound REF CURSORs. Crystal Reports 8.5 native connections will support Oracle stored procedures referencing weakly bound REF CURSORs. 2. The procedure must have a parameter that is a REF CURSOR type. This is because CR uses this parameter to access and define the result set that the stored procedure returns. 3. The REF CURSOR parameter must be defined as IN OUT (read/write mode). After the procedure has opened and assigned a query to the REF CURSOR, CR will perform a FETCH call for every row from the query's result. This is why the parameter must be defined as IN OUT. 4. Parameters can only be input (IN) parameters. CR is not designed to work with OUT parameters. 5. The REF CURSOR variable must be opened and assigned its query within the procedure. 6. The stored procedure can only return one record set. The structure of this record set must not change, based on parameters. 7. The stored procedure cannot call another stored procedure. 8. If using an ODBC driver, it must be the CR Oracle ODBC driver (installed by CR). Other Oracle ODBC drivers (installed by Microsoft or Oracle) may not function correctly. 9.     Preparation for the BIG interview: I prepared in both technical and logical aspects to face the Oracle Interview. I had to cover almost all main areas in technical and many types of problems in logical areas. We attended mock- interviews and written tests at our college, browsed websites and communities. Having started with such a rigorous preparation before Oracle visited the college; it was possible for me to make it into the list of final selection. I put in a big effort to reach this position and I am very happy to achieve this. Why I chose Oracle: Oracle is one of the best technology providers and has a large customer base. I think it is not an easy job to offer services to that many customers. So, the company needs young and dynamic people and I wanted to be one among them. This gave me spirit and led me to walk into Oracle. I am working on different technologies and learning something new in the field. Having many customers is challenging Oracle and my work is challenging me. I am confident enough that customers to both me and Oracle will never lose their faith. Learning at Oracle: The style of learning is good and never resembles a classroom session in a college. It is always fun to learn here. There is no exam to track the performance. There is enough time until we completely learn it. There is no concept of stiff competition. Peers help through KT (Knowledge Transfers) and there are good resources in the Oracle to learn. People are always there to direct you to those. There are lots of opportunities for Web learning too! My Work Area: My team gives me a great opportunity to offer service to the entire product. There were no situations when I got tense with my work or targets and deliverables. I work with a Global Team and my manager is based in the UK. I have a lot of freedom and flexibility. I use the work from home option in case of any disturbances in the city or due to personal problems. I have a weekly meeting with my manager and use Instant Messenger for status updates. My manager plans very well to give me enough time to complete tasks. I have good coordination from the team towards our deadlines. My work has also brought me close to many people across various technology and product teams. I am glad to make many friends across Oracle. I am enjoying my time and work here. I cover all the major activities in the team. I am thankful to everyone from the Development and Quality Assurance Team to have high confidence in me by assigning such big responsibilities. Primary tasks are maintaining the environments that are very unstable at times. This really requires big time and effort to trace the root causes. I am working and still learning on all these areas. The happiest thing is I got chances to travel to USA & UK for training and for supporting a few customer demo projects. I have got to explore more across two countries and got sponsored to visit the places around due to Oracle's policies. I am very much thankful for these what I have from Oracle and for the cooperation there from other colleagues. Fun at Work: Oracle has a club from Employees to conduct games and events. I had an opportunity to participate in competitions, tournaments inside Oracle and Inter-Corporate for all games.   • SüdLeasing reduziert mit e-Lease auf SOA-Basis Verwaltungskosten um über 1,5 Mio. Euro

    Mit dem SüdLeasing Projekt e-Lease (electronic leasing process) wurde laut Dr. Buchacker eine maßgeschneiderte, exzellent ausbaufähige „Zukunftsplattform" geschaffen. Die Geschäftsprozesse des Unternehmens wurden gemeinsam mit Oracle und dem langjährigen Oracle Partner PROMATIS auf der neuen Plattform einheitlich abgebildet und verschlankt. Dabei wurden auch bestehende Legacy-Systeme einbezogen. Heute werden auf dieser Oracle basierten service-orientierten Architektur (SOA) die betrieblichen Abläufe automatisiert, optimiert und flexibel weiterentwickelt. Zunächst stand das Finanzdienstleistungsunternehmen vor der Herausforderung unternehmensweit die Durchlaufzeiten, die Kooperation und den Service durch Business Process Streamlining zu verbessern. Neben Einsparungen bei Aktenordnern, Ablagematerialien und bei der Archivierung sollten vor allem die Abteilungen „Markt" und „Marktfolge" mittels einer durchgängigen IT-Unterstützung der Arbeitsabläufe besser ineinander greifen. Parallel dazu beabsichtigte man durch sukzessive Entlastung der Mitarbeiter in den drei Haupt- und Bearbeitungsstandorten sowie in den 19 Vertriebsniederlassungen zusätzliche Kapazitäten zu gewinnen. Bereits kurz nach der Einführung von e-Lease in 2008 hatten sich die Verwaltungskosten in der SüdLeasing Zentrale um rund 1,5 Mio. Euro reduziert.   • Ruby open-uri open method loses file extension opening images

    I'm using ruby 1.9.2 along with Rails 3.1.4 and Paperclip 2.4.5. My issue is trying to save a paperclip attachment from a URI loses the file extension and saves the file without one resulting in issues with things like fancybox that require an extension. Some example code: uri = "http://featherfiles.aviary.com/2012-06-13/bbe5f0de1/0c5a672b88ea47ecb4631ac173e27430.png" open(uri) #=> #<File:/var/folders/zc/d69gxhzx10x_bvjrkqgyjgxr0000gn/T/open-uri20120613-27204-i6cldv> Because there is no extension on the temp file paperclip is saving the file without one resulting in issues. Has anyone run into this issue? I've seen multiple answers about using paperclip to store images from a URI but none seem to address the same problem we're running
