  • Django ModelAdmin.save_model() -vs- ModelAdmin.save_formset()

    - by anonymous coward
I want to ensure that a user editing a particular model is saved in that models updated_by (FK User) field. I'm using mostly ModelForms (not necessarily the built in Admin), and wondering: In what cases would I need to override ModelAdmin.save_model() or ModelAdmin.save_formset()? Or, is that doing it wrong? If it's just the models' save() method that needs to be overridden, is there a proper way to access the request object there?

  • How can a client gracefully detect when a server disconnects?

    - by Ummar
I am working on a client-server application. The client continuously reads data from server, so when a server is closed or disconnects then the client crashes. I tried a try/catch block, but it didn't work. My client application is written in C++. I want the client to display some proper message like "Server disconnected," then exit.

  • PayPal debit VISA automatically?

    - by Mark
If I have a Visa card number saved in my database, is there a way I can charge that Visa automatically through the PayPal API without the user having to enter anything? We want to keep this site as easy and hassle-free to use as possible. It would be a variable amount, based on how they use the site. (Don't worry, proper disclaimers will be in place, and the user will be notified)

Basically my problem is this, I need to parse text where , is the delimiter but anything in " " quotes should not be checked for a delimiter. Is this what the Scanner.skip method is for? I would check it myself but I don't understand how to write a regex pattern in java where the token is something in between two " ". I also want to include any quoted text in the proper token which was delimited by the valid ,.

  • Not using Web Server for html pages

    - by Manoj
For an intranet application instead of using a proper web server, it has been planned to just deploy static html pages by sharing it over the network. This static html page is continously updated in the background by a program running on that PC and people access this html page by typing the shared file path directly in the browser. A maximum of 10 simultaneous users are expected to access it. Can any one see the disadvantages or advantages in this type of deployment?

    - by Cue
Consider I have an array of elements out of which I want to create a new 'iterable' which on every next applies a custom 'transformation'. What's the proper way of doing it under python 2.x? For people familiar with Java, the equivalent is Iterables#transform from google's collections framework.

  • bind key to complete filename wherever the context is in Zsh

    - by lilydjwg
Sometimes I want a filename instead of what zsh guesses for me. For example, I have a PNG file without a proper .png suffix, which makes zsh think it isn't a picture and won't list it when I type Tab to complete arguments of display. I am wondering if there is a key sequence that completes for a filename wherever the context is, like ^XC for _correct_filename, or how to configure zsh to do the thing?

  • How do I set IP access / password restrictions in Apache?

    - by Mouthbreather
I'd like to restrict access to my Rails app (running on Apache/Passenger) to just two IPs, but if the visitor doesn't fall into those two IPs, I would like for him/her to be prompted to enter a password that would allow any user with the proper credentials to access the site from anywhere. I am new to configuring Apache and would appreciate any hints. Thanks!

  • from Hibernate hbm to JPA annotations, a challenging one

    - by nodje
Hi, I've been struggling with this one for quite some time already. It appears a lot less simple than I thought it'd be: This is included in the "COTISATION" table mapping an uses SynchroDataType, extending Hibernate UserType. This works really great, and I can't find a way to translate it to proper JPA, while keeping the convenience of it. Does someone has a solution for that kind of one-to-one mapping? cheers

  • "unadd" a file to svn before commit

    - by Lowgain
I was in the middle of doing a recursive svn add/commit, and a folder which did not have the proper ignore properties was included. I've got about 100 uploaded binary files versioned now, but I haven't committed yet. What is the easiest way to 'undo' this, without deleting all the documents? Thanks!
