• How to speed up loading the splash screen.

  I am optimizing the startup of a WinForms app. One issue I identified is the loading of the splash screen form. It takes about half a second to a second. I know that multi-threading is a no-no on UI pieces, however, seeing how the splash screen is a fairly autonomous piece of the application, is it possible to somehow mitigate its performance hit by throwing it one some other thread (perhaps in the way Chrome does it), so that the important pieces of the application can actually get going.

  We are currently distributing a WinForms app without .pdb files to conserve space on client machines and download bandwidth. When we get stack traces, we are getting method names but not line numbers. Is there any way to get the line numbers without resorting to distributing the .pdb files?

  I'm trying to create an installer using Apple's PackageMaker.app. As part of the installation, I want to install SIMBL with the metapackage mechanism provided by PackageMaker. However, when I add the SIMBL .pkg file and try to build my own package, I get the warning "No payload could be found. The package will not be built." for the SIMBL package reference. The same worked for an older version of SIMBL (0.8.*).

• Disable keyboard input on Android TimePicker

  I'm developing and Android app using the 1.6 sdk. I'm using a TimePicker and I don't want the soft keyboard to come up when you click on the digits in the TimePicker. I only want the TimePicker to be changed using the plus and minus buttons. I've tried using android:focusable="false" and android:focusableInTouchMode="false" hoping those would do it, but they didn't seem to do anything. Is there a way to do this?

• Error- The SQLNCLI provider is not registered on the local machine.

  I get the above error in one of my apps. However there is no reference to using the SQLNCLI provider. I know before the ConnectionString had "Provider=SQLNCLI".However now its changed to "Provider=SQLOLEDB" (using OLEDB since the same app connects to Access and SQL database). Why then do I still get the error?

  I have navigation based app, when I click on any row in root view, the next view should come in Landscape mode. I am not able to find a proper way to implement this. What I tried is: - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return UIInterfaceOrientationIsLandscape(interfaceOrientation); } But this is not working. • iPhone: How much OpenGL cleanup do I need to do when a context goes away?

  I several views in an iPhone app which happen to use independent openGL contexts. They are not necessarily long-lived so they go away before the process does. And they have a couple textures in each. Does -releaseing the EAGLContext cause all that GL state to get cleaned up for me? Or am I leaking textures etc by not finding a place to call glDeleteTextures from? Thanks.

  Is there a way to determine what kind of data plan a device has so an app provides a less rich experience if a data plan is not available? I imagine the connector factory would still be able to return me an HTTPConnection but it would cost the user serious money for lots of data, and I'd like to be nice and prevent that. I thought there would be a way to query device capabilities in the MIDP API, but maybe it's in CLDC?

This what I've done: Create a new app "extendedprofile" Wrote a models.py that extends the satchmo_store.contact.models class and add the custom name fields. wrote an admin.py that unregister the Contact class and register my newapp but this still showing me the default user profile form.
