  • CPU ordering in Linux (with hyper threading)

    I'm curious what the CPU ordering is in Linux. Say I bind a thread to cpu0 and another to cpu1 on a hyperthreaded system, are they both going to be on the same physical core. Given a Core i7 920 with 4 cores and hyperthreading, the output of /proc/cpuinfo has me thinking that cpu0 and cpu1 are different physical cores, and cpu0 and cpu4 are on the same physical core.     I wrote a cgi-script with c++ to return the query-string back to the requesting ajax object. I also write the query-string in a file in order to see if the cgi script works correctly.     This is the first C++ program I have ever written and I'm having trouble understanding the order in which operands must be put in. This is for a class, but it looks like I'm not supposed to use the homework tag. Sorry if I'm doing this wrong. You just type a tag and press return or space and it's will be inside a nice box, and you can delete it by only pressing the backspace key or the close icon. Please don't suggest me That because it's so poor and the tags are inserted outside the input box. Thanks
