  • How to develop modular web UIs with Django?

    When doing larger sites in "big business", you most probalbly work in a team with several developers. Let's say dev A makes a form to insert new user data, B creates a user list, C makes some privilege administration and D does crazy statistic graphs work with image generation and so on. Each dev begins to develop his own component, creates a view and a template and tests that independently, until each component works. Now, the client wants to have all those components on one bit HTML page. How to achieve this? How to assemble different views/templates in a form of composition so that they remain modular and can be developed and tested independently? It seems inheritance is not the way to go because all of those UI components are equal and there is no hierarchy. The idea of the assembling template is something like <html> <head> // include the css for the components and their assembly </head> <body> // include user data form here <some containers, images, and so on> // show user list // show privilege administration in this part // and finally, the nice statistic graphs // perhaps, we want to display some other components here in future </body> </html> I have not found an answer on the net yet. Most people come up with one big template which just implements all of the UI functionality, removing all modularity. Each component shall have its own template and view dealing only with that component developed by one person each, and they then shall be sticked together just like bricks. I would highly appreciate any hints!

  • Prevent Visual Studio Web Test from changing request details

    I have a service that accepts Xmla queries for Analysis services, often times those queries themselves will have a string that contains a fragment that looks something like {{[Time].[Year].[All]}} Recording these requests works fine but when I try to re-run the test I get an error from the test runner... Request failed: Exception occurred: There is no context parameter with the name ' [Time].[Year].[All]' in the WebTestContext This was confusing for some time but when I asked VS to generate a coded version of the test I was able to see the problem a bit better. VS searches for the '{{' and '}}' tokens and makes changes, considering those areas to refer to Context parameters, the code looks like this.Context["\n\t[Time].[Year].[All]"].ToString() Anyone know how to instruct Visual Studio to not perform this replacement operation? Or another way around this issue?

  • Pound symbol not displaying on web page

    Hello I have a mysql database table to store country name and currency symbol - the CHARSET has correctly set to UTF8. This is example data inserted into the table insert into country ( country_name, currency_name, currency_code, currency_symbol) values ('UK','Pounds','GBP','£'); When I look in the database - the pound symbol appears fine - but when I retrieve it from the database and display it on the website - a weird square symbol shows up with a question mark inside instead of the pound symbol.   • Capturing mouse events for specific dom/web elements in QT

    Hi I would like to know if it is possible in QTWebKit to install an event filter or capture events that occur from specific Dom elements. For example, my webview is showing a webpage that has text, images and an edit box, I want to disable the right-clicking and highlighting functionality on the text and images but at the same time when the user right-clicks inside the edit box, I want to display my context menu. I am not sure where should I install my event filter, in QwebView or QwebPage... currently this is what I'm using: MainWindow::MainWindow() { centralWidget = new WebView(this); setCentralWidget(centralWidget); centralWidget->webView->installEventFilter(this); //No mouse events are rising on QWebPage //centralWidget->webView->page()->installEventFilter(this); } As its clear in the code above, when installing an EventFilter on QwebPage, I never receive any QMouseEvents, not by moving clicking or releasing any mouse buttons. While when setting it to filter events from QWebView it works fine. I am really interested with the first part of my question as to how handle Dom elements differently. How can I achieve such goal?   • Replay attacks for HTTPS requests

    Let's say a security tester uses a proxy, say Fiddler, and records an HTTPS request using the administrator's credentials-- on replay of the entire request (including session and auth cookies) the security tester is able to succesfully (re)record transactions. The claim is that this is a sign of a CSRF vulnerability. What would a malicious user have to do to intercept the HTTPS request and replay it? It this a task for script kiddies, well funded military hacking teams or time-traveling-alien technology? Is it really so easy to record the SSL sessions of users and replay them before the tickets expire? No code in the application currently does anything interesting on HTTP GET, so AFAIK, tricking the admin into clicking a link or loading a image with a malicious URL isn't an issue.
