  • J-Monkey subclass

    - by user2971104
    I'm new in java and J-monkey and I'm trying to make a java game so for the Menu I have made a enum so I can Switch between any of my State but I want to keep the main file shorter so it can be easily to read so I'm making subclass the problem is that when run the game it give me an error that say "Uncaught exception thrown in Thread[LWJGL Renderer Thread,5,main] NullPointerException" I think this problem has to be something whit the pipeline Here is the code of my main file: package mygame; import com.jme3.app.SimpleApplication; import com.jme3.font.BitmapText; import com.jme3.material.Material; import com.jme3.math.ColorRGBA; import com.jme3.math.Vector3f; import com.jme3.renderer.RenderManager; import com.jme3.scene.Spatial; import com.jme3.scene.Geometry; import com.jme3.input.*; import com.jme3.input.controls.*; public class Main extends SimpleApplication { //GameStates enum GameState{Logo, Menu, Playing, Option}; GameState gameState = GameState.Logo; //Class Variables Logo logo; public Main() { logo = new Logo(); } public static void main(String[] args) { Main app = new Main(); app.start(); } public static void logo(String[] args) { Logo app = new Logo(); app.start(); } @Override public void simpleInitApp() { //Load flyCam.setMoveSpeed(20); if(gameState == GameState.Logo){ logo.simpleInitApp(); } } @Override public void simpleUpdate(float tpf) { } @Override public void simpleRender(RenderManager rm) { //TODO: add render code //Load if(gameState == GameState.Logo) { } } } And here is my Logo subclass: package mygame; import com.jme3.app.SimpleApplication; import com.jme3.renderer.RenderManager; import com.jme3.scene.Spatial; public class Logo extends SimpleApplication { @Override public void simpleInitApp() { Spatial Logo_Model = assetManager.loadModel("Models/Teapot/Logo.obj"); rootNode.attachChild(Logo_Model); } public void simpleRender(RenderManager rm) { //Load } }

  • Limit TCP requests per IP

    - by asmo
    Hello! I'm wondering how to limit the TCP requests per client (per specific IP) in Java. For example, I would like to allow a maximum of X requests per Y seconds for each client IP. I thought of using static Timer/TimerTask in combination with a HashSet of temporary restricted IPs. private static final Set<InetAddress> restrictedIPs = Collections.synchronizedSet(new HashSet<InetAddress>()); private static final Timer restrictTimer = new Timer(); So when a user connects to the server, I add his IP to the restricted list, and start a task to unrestrict him in X seconds. restrictedIPs.add(socket.getInetAddress()); restrictTimer.schedule(new TimerTask() { public void run() { restrictedIPs.remove(socket.getInetAddress()); } }, MIN_REQUEST_INTERVAL); My problem is that at the time the task will run, the socket object may be closed, and the remote IP address won't be accessible anymore... Any ideas welcomed! Also, if someone knows a Java-framework-built-in way to achieve this, I'd really like to hear it.

  • Android: Help with tabs view

    - by James
    So I'm trying to build a tabs view for an Android app, and for some reason I get a force close every time I try to run it on the emulator. When I run the examples, everything shows fine, so I went as far as to just about copy most of the layout from the examples(a mix of Tabs2.java and Tabs3.java), but for some reason it still wont run, any ideas? Here is my code(List1.class is a copy from the examples for testing purposes). It all compiles fine, just gets a force close the second it starts: package com.jvavrik.gcm; import android.app.TabActivity; import android.content.Intent; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.widget.TabHost; import android.widget.TextView; public class GCM extends TabActivity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); final TabHost tabHost = getTabHost(); tabHost.addTab(tabHost.newTabSpec("tab1") .setIndicator("g", getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.star_big_on)) .setContent(new Intent(this, List1.class))); tabHost.addTab(tabHost.newTabSpec("tab2") .setIndicator("C") .setContent(new Intent(this, List1.class)) ); tabHost.addTab(tabHost.newTabSpec("tab3") .setIndicator("S") .setContent(new Intent(this, List1.class)) ); tabHost.addTab(tabHost.newTabSpec("tab4") .setIndicator("A") .setContent(new Intent(this, List1.class)) ); } }

  • JDialog setResizable(false) is not working in Window Title Bar Menu

    - by jolonaleur
    JDialog setResizable(false) is not working in Window Title Bar Menu Windows XP SP2 Java JRE 1.6.0_11-b03 Behavior varies. Sometimes, the Maximize and Minimize item on the window menu is disabled and sometimes enabled. Steps to reproduce enabled Maximize and Minimize button: Show the JDialog with setResizable(false) Open another window, say for example Notepad. Right-click on the window title bar of Notepad and click Maximize. Go to your JDialog and right click on the window title bar. Maximize window is enabled. Likewise, to disable the Maximize item for the JDialog, go to the maximized Notepad window and right click on title bar. Maximize item is disabled in the Notepad window. Go the your JDialog and right click on the title bar, notice that the Maximize item is also disabled. Note that my application can not use the defaultLookAndFeel method of java dialogs. The bug report related to this was for Solaris OS but that was already ages ago. bug report Is there any workaround? Thanks.

  • Preserving timestamps on Clojure .clj files when building shaded jar via Maven Shade Plugin

    - by Dereference
    When using the maven-shade-plugin to package our jar artifact that contained a few Clojure libs and some Java. We were using AOT compilation for our Clojure code. When we loaded the jar, it was having very slow load times. AOT compilation is supposed to help this quite a bit, but that wasn't what we were seeing. We noticed in java jar -verbose output that there was a lot of JVM__DEFINE_CLASS calls happening when Clojure classes were being loaded. This didn't make sense, since more of our Clojure code was AOT compiled to .class files. Turns out the maven-shade-plugin creates all new files, with new timestamps in the final artifact Clojure uses the timestamp information on a .clj file vs. a .class file, to determine if the file needs to be recompiled. The maven-shade-plugin was causing the .clj file and it's associated .class file to have the same timestamp, so Clojure always chose to dynamically recompile the source. The only workaround that we have been able to figure out, at this point, is to write a script that would re-open the shaded jar and bump the .clj file timestamps back to some time in the past, so that they wouldn't be equal to the timestamps of their associated .class files. Does anyone know of a better approach?

  • google site rank from search word

    - by user72185
    Hi, is it possible (a Google API or something) to get the ranking of a website given a search word? It's the code equivalent of doing a Google search for a word, then browsing through the results until you find the website you look for. By ranking I mean the position in the pages found, e.g. the site is number 4000 when searching for some word. Thanks!

  • Start developing a database application using Oracle + Net Beans

    - by Ranhiru
    I have thought of creating my first database application for one of my projects using Oracle and Java. I have chosen Netbeans as my development environment. I have a few questions to getting started. Please bare with me as I'm a complete beginner to Oracle + Netbeans This will be a data intensive (yet still for a college project) database application. I do not need 1000 user concurrency or any other very advanced features but basic stuff such as triggers, stored procedures etc. Will the 11g "Express" (XE) suffice for my requirements? Do i need any Java to Oracle bridge (database connectivity driver eg. ODBC etc) for Netbeans to connect to the oracle database? If yes, what are they? Does Netbeans support Oracle databases natively? Any easy to follow guide on how do i connect to the database and insert/retrieve/display data on a J2SE application? (I know that i should Google this but if there's any guide previously followed by anyone and is considered easy, it would be greatly appreciated.)

  • Is there a JSON library that can serialize Proxy objects?

    - by gmoore
    Using ActiveObjects as my ORM and Gson as my JSON processor. Ran into a problem going toJson from persisted objects. The problem is that my persisted class is actually an Interface and AO is proxying that object under the hood. Here's some sample code: Venue venue = manager.get(Venue.class, id); gson.toJson(venue); Comes up with this exception: java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: Expecting parameterized type, got interface java.lang.reflect.InvocationHandler. Are you missing the use of TypeToken idiom? See http://sites.google.com/site/gson/gson-user-guide#TOC-Serializing-and... Because venue.getClass().getName() gives: $Proxy228 I've tried a few solutions in various combinations: gsonBuilder.registerTypeAdapter(Venue.class, newVenueSerializer()); Type listType = new TypeToken<Venue>() {}.getType(); Nothing has worked so far and I'm using a wonky field-by-field workaround. Any suggestions? I'm not married to Gson, so if there's an alternative library that can do this I'd be happy to use it.

  • Convert SVG to PDF

    - by Adrian Smith
    How would one go about converting a SVG file to a PDF programatically? (I need to alter the SVG in certain respects before generating the PDF so simply pre-converting it using a tool won't be sufficient.) Ideally using Java but Perl or PHP would be fine too. Obviously I am basically considering Apache FOP and Batik with Java. However no matter how long I search I cannot find a simple introduction on how to do it. Things like SVGConverter have descriptions like "Defines the interface for classes that are able to convert part or all of a GraphicContext", but I don't really know what that means. I have this feeling there must be an API to do this quite simply, provided by FOP or Batik, but I'm just not able to find it at the moment (or perhaps it really doesn't exist.) In terms of the supported SVG features I need, the file has some paths which are filled with some linear gradients. Ideally if I could pass the SVG in as a DOM Document that would be ideal; then I would load my template SVG file, change it as specified by the user, and then generate the PDF.

  • Which web framework or technologies would suit me?

    - by Suraj Chandran
    Hi, I had been working on desktop apps and server side(non web) for some time and now I am diving in to web first time. I plan to write a scalable enterprise level app. I have worked with Java, Javascript, Jquery etc. but I absolutely hate jsp. So is there any framework that focuses on developing enterprise level web apps without jsp. I liked Wicket's approach, but I think there is a little lack of support of dynamic html in it and jquery(yes i looked at wiquery). Also I feel making wicket apps scalable would take some sweat. Can Spring MVC, Struts2 etc. help me make with this with just using say Java, JavaScript, and JQuery. Or are there any other options for me like Wicket. Please do forgive if anything above looks insane, I am still working on my understanding with enterprise web apps. NOTE: If you think that I should take a different direction or approach, please do suggest!

  • Openlayers and Bing Maps (POLYGONS)

    - by Jordan
    When trying to draw polygons onto a bing map, the initial marker is set differently on the map. How can I fix this? OpenLayers Bing Example <script src="OpenLayers.js"></script> <script> var map; function init(){ map = new OpenLayers.Map("map"); map.addControl(new OpenLayers.Control.LayerSwitcher()); var shaded = new OpenLayers.Layer.VirtualEarth("Shaded", { type: VEMapStyle.Shaded }); var hybrid = new OpenLayers.Layer.VirtualEarth("Hybrid", { type: VEMapStyle.Hybrid }); var aerial = new OpenLayers.Layer.VirtualEarth("Aerial", { type: VEMapStyle.Aerial }); var POLY_LAYER = new OpenLayers.Layer.Vector(); map.addLayers([shaded, hybrid, aerial, POLY_LAYER]); map.setCenter(new OpenLayers.LonLat(-110, 45), 3); var polygon = new OpenLayers.Control.DrawFeature(POLY_LAYER, OpenLayers.Handler.Polygon); map.addControl(polygon); polygon.activate(); } </script> Bing Example <div id="tags"> Bing, Microsoft, Virtual Earth </div> <p id="shortdesc"> Demonstrates the use of Bing layers. </p> <div id="map" class="smallmap"></div> <div id="docs">This example demonstrates the ability to create layers using tiles from Bing maps.</div> Of course the above is being initialized and page works. You can draw the polygon shapes. Notice if you zoom in or out one time, the markers are set at the correct coordinates. My app I was testing this on is really using the bing maps API keys and not VirtualEarth. But it's doing a similar thing. Is this an Openlayers bug? The below source came directly from the open layers example site, I just added and activated polygons to the map. Please let me know how I can fix this for using the Bing Map API.. I've been stuck on this for HOURS! :(

  • Cannot Find Symbol Method?

    In my driver program, This line gives me cannot find symbol error and I don't know why, the method is clearly defined in the SavingsAccount class, and I can refer to all other methods in my driver program but just not that one, I tried changing the type to double, and etc but still not working. • SWT: cleaning up before application exit

    - by Alexey Romanov
    What is the best way for an SWT application to clean up resources before application exit? I see two options: 1) Add a DisposeListener to main window (or better, to the Display). Will it get run if an uncaught exception happens? 2) Use a shutdown hook. Any problems to be aware of there which aren't mentioned in Design of the Shutdown Hooks API?
