• Accomplishing boost::shared_from_this() in constructor via boost::shared_from_raw(this)

  Googling and poking around the boost code, it appears that it's now possible to construct a shared_ptr to this in a constructor, by inheriting from enable_shared_from_raw and calling shared_from_raw(this) Is there any documentation or examples of this? I'm finding nothing with google. Why am I not finding any useful buzz on this on google? I would have thought using shared_from_this in a constructor would be a hot/desirable item. Should I be inheriting from both enable_shared_from_raw and enable_shared_from_this, and restricting my usage of enable_shared_from_raw when I have to? If so, why? Is there a performance hit with shared_from_raw?

• What HTTP redirect status should I use to link offsite?

  While randomly browsing my website via Google, I noticed that it was showing up remote redirects as local files. Now this can be both good and bad, but I'm wondering how can I fix this so it doesn't happen? I'm currently using PHP and header('Location: ... which sends a 302 redirect. Looking over the list of HTTP status codes, I'd take a guess that I should be using 303 redirects to redirect offsite. Is anyone able to help me here, and either confirm/deny this, or tell me what I should be doing instead? Obviously, due to me not being able to tell Google to reindex my site on command, there's issues with being able to test this myself...

  In the below code I understand that sys.argv uses lists, however I am not clear on how the index's are used here. def main(): if len(sys.argv) >= 2: name = sys.argv[1] else: name = 'World' print 'Hello', name if __name__ == '__main__': main() If I change name = sys.argv[1] to name = sys.argv[0] and type something for an argument it returns: Hello C:\Documents and Settings\fred\My Documents\Downloads\google-python-exercises \google-python-exercises\hello.py Which kind of make sense.   I am trying to output a simple link. This works great: $url = 'http://www.google.com'; echo $url; This doesn't work great: $url = 'http://www.google.com'; echo urlencode($url); The second example tacks on "?SID=xxx" to the end of the URL for some reason. How do I prevent this from happening? Note: The code to generate the URL has been changed to protect the innocent.

Unfortunately I never made an application like this, so I'm not sure what to do... I don't want to code a stupid app which uses google maps' APIs since the web seems to be full of stuff like this. Have you got any suggestion for me? Is there any mashup web app you want that's still not there?? I can use JAVA, GWT (and google app engine of course) or python, but I also accept suggestions for other languages. Thank you in advance!

  Hey, Since week I use ToirtoiseSVN and AnkhSVN and GoogleCode and sourceforge.net as my project hosting. For me it's frustrating to fill all this forms before create next project. So I start thinking about mu own repository hosting... Can I use simple file hosting etc. and install there software like use Google or SourceForge to have my own SVN Server ? My point is to have independent repository in internet without all this uselessly UI interface which give me Google and SF to administrate my version control. I don't want to take advantage of already exist hosting like GoogleCode etc - I want to be independent from them! ;) Or maybe it's other way to do my own repository hosting and FREE ;) Please don't tell me that I'm at mercy of commercial hosting... :/ p.s.   I am new to Microsoft Detours. I have installed it to trace the system calls a process makes. I run the following commands which I got from the web syelogd.exe /q C:\Users\xxx\Desktop\log.txt withdll.exe /d:traceapi.dll C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe I get the log file. The problem is I don't fully understand what is happening here. How does detours work? How does it trace the system calls? Also I don't know how to read the output in log.txt. Here is one line in log.txt 20101221060413329 2912 50.60: traceapi: 001 GetCurrentThreadId() Finally I want to get the stack trace of the process. How can I get that?

  Has anyone successfully been able to deploy ASP.NET website to GoDaddy's free hosting? I am talking about free hosting that comes with a domain package from GoDaddy. The catch of the free hosting is having an annoying Google Ads banner in a frame on top of the page. I've searched Google, stackoverflow and GoDaddy forums but I can't find anywhere the solution to my problem. When I upload a ASP.NET website to GoDaddy, it gives me an error - something about TrustLevel. Someone told me that by default asp.net websites have Full Trust Level which GoDaddy doesn't allow. I've even tried changing Trust Level to Medium manually, but with no luck. What may be the problem?

  After you get old, say past 30 or 40. Can you still keep up with the young coders from your company, those fresh out of school, who can code for 15+ hours on 10 cans of redbulls (most people in Google, Facebook, etc) ? And given the lightning speed with which today's programming frameworks and architectures evolve, can you keep up with the most up to date stuff and be as proficient at them as the next college grad? I know for jobs like unix/c/embedded programming, it might be that the older the better. But for programming jobs in say web development, social media, search engine technology, etc. Do you become less and less competitive career-wise versus youngsters? For example, most coders in Google and Facebook, I believe are under 25 years old. In other words, once you reach a certain age, would it be unwise to continue to be a coder, and is it better to try becoming a project manager or architect?

• Font-face, Raphael and IE8

  I am desesperatly trying to get some google font faces to work with Raphael (SVG / VML rendering JavaScript library) on IE8. At first i tried the google fonts code. My second try has been to download and convert the fonts to host my own more complete css. Now the fonts show in the html part of the page (inside a modified bootstrap nav dropdown), but it does not work in the VML canvas (generated by Raphael). • Can't find AVD or SDK manager in Eclipse

  Seems like I'm having some problems after updating my android sdk tools and platform-tools using the sdk manager. The problem is that, after updating, I found that the avd or sdk options in the windows dropdown menu in eclipse are gone! And, I can't find any option to create an android project from file-new projects any more. I tried removing the ADT from eclipse and the software site "https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/" from "available software sites" and then reinstalled the ADT from "https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/" using help-install new software. The installation was successful, but I still don't have any option for shortcuts to the SDK manager or the AVD in eclipse, and neither can I create a new android project. By the way, the android perspectives are not gone, they are still here. Also, I can manually open the avd and sdk manager from the directory where I have installed them. Can anyone please show me a workaround? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I've searched Google, but only found information on how to setup a feedburner for wordpress or other blogging services. I've also searched stackoverflow, but not found the right information. I'm creating a website, for which I want to have an RSS. Feedburner seems to be a good, free option - so I'd like to use that. When I go to feedburner, using my google account, it says the website I want to claim is invalid. And it's not clear how to make it valid. I also have no experience with RSS (and really websites in general), so I'm not sure where to go from here. What are the steps I need to take, starting from scratch, to add an RSS feed (with feedburner) to a website?
