    Hi, For my question lets consider the following sample table data: ProductID    ProductName    Price   Category 1                Apple                 5.00       Fruits 2                Apple                 5.00       Food 3                Orange               3.00       Fruits 4                Banana                 2.00       Fruits I need a query which will result in the following data set: ProductID    ProductName    Price   Category 1                Apple                 5.00       Fruits 3                Orange               3.00       Fruits 4                Banana                 2.00       Fruits As you can see ProductID 2 has been omitted/ignored because Apple is already present in the result i.e. each product must appear only once irrespective of Category or Price.     Hey guys, I have an Excel document which has a list of students and their group names. I have another sheet within the the same excel document which is called comments. In this sheet, I would like to have a list of individual team names listed. There are 65 students and 14 defined groups. Is there a way to select the 14 group names, without repitition? Cell B3-B67 have the student names. Cell C3-C67 have the team names. The team names are entered against each student. I know in SQL I could use something like select distinct(team_name) but in Excel, how can I replicate this? Cheers, Alks.

    I have a WSS 3.0 site that I use for change management. There are three primary lists on it -- a bug list, an enhancement list, and a release list. The release list has two lookup columns that provide a list of bugs and enhancements that are included in that particular release. I am trying to figure out how to filter the bug and enhancement list to include only items that have not already been included in another release. All the docs and examples I have seen regarding filtered lookups deal with a query on the list itself. For my situation, and if this was a SQL query, I would need to use a LEFT JOIN to generate the list.

  • Searching a column containing CSV data in a MySQL table for existence of input values

    Hi, I have a table say, ITEM, in MySQL that stores data as follows: ID FEATURES -------------------- 1 AB,CD,EF,XY 2 PQ,AC,A3,B3 3 AB,CDE 4 AB1,BC3 -------------------- As an input, I will get a CSV string, something like "AB,PQ". I want to get the records that contain AB or PQ. I realized that we've to write a MySQL function to achieve this. So, if we have this magical function MATCH_ANY defined in MySQL that does this, I would then simply execute an SQL as follows: select * from ITEM where MATCH_ANY(FEAURES, "AB,PQ") = 0 The above query would return the records 1, 2 and 3. But I'm running into all sorts of problems while implementing this function as I realized that MySQL doesn't support arrays and there's no simple way to split strings based on a delimiter. Remodeling the table is the last option for me as it involves lot of issues. I might also want to execute queries containing multiple MATCH_ANY functions such as: select * from ITEM where MATCH_ANY(FEATURES, "AB,PQ") = 0 and MATCH_ANY(FEATURES, "CDE") In the above case, we would get an intersection of records (1, 2, 3) and (3) which would be just 3. Any help is deeply appreciated. Thanks

    For some reason, the developers at a new company I'm working for decided to name their columns "ignore" and "exists". Now when I run MySQL queries with those words in the where clause, I get a syntax error; however, I can't seem to figure out how to reference those columns without running into an error. I tried setting them as strings, but that doesn't make any sense. Help? Also, is there a term for this kind of mismatch?

    Hi, I am using SQL server 2008 express and some of our columns are defined as varchar(255). Should I convert these columns to NvarChar(255) or nvarchar(max)? The reason I ask is I read that nvarchar(255) for unicode characters would actually store 1/2 the number of characters (since unicode characters are 2 bytes) whereas 255 with varchar() would allow me to store 255 characters (or is it 255 - 2 for the offset). Would there be any performance hits using nvarchar(max)? JDs

  • How do I get the last value of a column in an Excel spreadsheet?

    In column A, I have dates. In column B, I have my body weight logged for the day. I add one row to each every day when I weigh myself, so this means the data is sorted by date ascending. The weights, of course, fluctuate (though it would be nice if they would go down every day for my own personal benefit). For a couple of calculations, I want to get the latest (or last) weight entered in column B. Not the max or the min, but the last one entered in the column. I want it to work no many how many rows I enter. I use Excel 2007, if that ends up mattering.
