• The Eclipse Executable Launcher Was Unable To Locate Its Companion Shared Library

  I am a java beginner and am going through the book "Java In 24 Hours Sixth Edition" by Rogers Cadenhead. I am on chapter 24 "Creating an Android app". The book has told me to download Eclipse and Android SDK on my computer and to unzip the zip files they come in. I have put them both in the same parent file (C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Downloads). Then the book tells me I can run Eclipse now and I get a message instead saying "The Eclipse Executable Launcher Was Unable To Locate Its Companion Shared Library". Is there a way to fix this? Do I just have to re-install SDK and Eclipse? I have downloaded SDK for windows 64-bit and I have windows 64-bit. Any info on how to fix this would be most appreciated.

• Maven install-file won't generate pom.xml

  I've installed some third party jars to my repository using the following command: mvn install:install-file -Dfile=/home/anotherCoder/Downloads/nifty-1.0.jar -DgroupId=nifty-gui -DartifactId=nifty-gui -Dversion=1.0 -Dpackaging=jar However, once I do mvn compile, maven complains that there is no pom file in the repository and attempts to download it, but can't cause it is not published at any remote repository.   I need to automate the process of downloading and installing an exe file abc.exe from say 'http://10.34.45.21:8080/cruisecontrol/artifacts/xxx_trunk_nightly_build/xxx/test/' I mean now i have to manually goto ''http://10.34.45.21:8080/cruisecontrol' then click on each folder before i finally click on the abc.exe file. Then it downloads the exe on my machine. Then i have to double click on the exe to install it. I want to automate this whole process such that when i run the script it will automatically download the exe file and install it. Is it possible to do this using php? I am very much a beginner. Any help will be of use.

  I have a Service that downloads a file from the internet. What I want is for the response (an InputStream in this case) to be handled by a custom handler that can be switched (like a strategy pattern) but I can't figure out how to do this. So basically the User of the API would be able to plug in different handlers for the response, some would parse XML, others might save files etc. I realise I could pass through the activity context and execute the method from this (given some interface) but I don't want to do this obviously, in case the Activity is closed in the meantime while the file is still downloaded. How might I do this?

  Context: I downloaded a file (Audirvana 0.7.1.zip) from code.google to my Macbook Pro (Mac OS X 10.6.6). (current url: http://code.google.com/p/audirvana/downloads/detail?name=Audirvana%200.7.1.zip&can=2&q= ) I wanted to verify the checksum, which for that particular file is posted as 862456662a11e2f386ff0b24fdabcb4f6c1c446a (SHA-1). git hash-object gave me a different hash, but openssl sha1 returned the expected 862456662a11e2f386ff0b24fdabcb4f6c1c446a. The following experiment seems to rule out any possible download corruption or newline differences and to indicate that there are actually two different algorithms at play: $ echo A > foo.txt $ cat foo.txt A $ git hash-object foo.txt f70f10e4db19068f79bc43844b49f3eece45c4e8 $ openssl sha1 foo.txt SHA1(foo.txt)= 7d157d7c000ae27db146575c08ce30df893d3a64 What's going on?

  Good day! I am using Xcode 3.1.4 and iPhone SDK 2.2.1. I am creating an iphone application and i would need the user to download a custom configuration profile (created by me) from a URL loaded via webkit. I have tested the URL in safari and it downloads and installs the profile just fine. however, the url opened via webkit could NOT download it. Why is this happening?   I've got a serverside app that send down a custom mime-type file "application/x-optibase". Firefox prompt user user to save or open the file and if the user clicks open the correct application launches so I believe I have mimeType.rdf configured correctly I've gone into about:config and set browser.helperApps.neverAsk.openFile to application/x-optibase and browser.helpApps.alwaysAsk.force to false According to the minimal documentation out there this should enable the application to automatically open when the user downloads the file but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? Thanks.

  Hi there! I'm writing an iPhone app that includes in-app purchasing. It downloads a zip file, then I unzip the file using the popular NSData category (zlibDeflate) which outputs the uncompressed file into an NSData object. The zip file contains multiple files in it which I need to write to the Documents directory. How can I write each file separately from this one NSData object? writeToFile just writes the whole thing to one file. Thank you and let me know if you need any more information.

But whenever it starts fetching and saving data from the web (the no of feeds that download at a time can be many), the other functionality such as button events halt and freeze. • AsyncTask won't stop even when the activity has destroyed

  Hi all, I have an AsyncTask object which starts executing when the activity is created and does stuff in the background (downloads upto 100 images). Everything works fine but there is this peculiar behavior which i'm not able to understand. For eg: when the android screen's orientation changes then the activity is destroyed and created again. So I override the onRetainNonConfigurationInstance() method and save all the downloaded data executed in the AsyncTask. My purpose of doing this is to not have AsyncTask run each time activity is destroyed-created during orientation changes, but as i can see in my logs the previous AsynTask is still executing. (The data is saved correctly though) I even tried to cancel the AsynTask in the onDestroy() method of the activity but the logs still show AsynTask as running. This is really strange behavior and would really be thankful if someone can tell me the correct procedure to stop/cancel the AsynTask. Thanks

  Hi Everyone, I have an FTP auto downloader program. It downloads new files from a given FTP folder. The application was successful for some FTP folders that i have tested. These folders contain 30 - 50 files. However, when i tried an FTP folder with 150 and 18000 files, i receive this error message: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine. My first assumptions will be because of firewalls or anti virus. I don't have administrative access to this computer so I would like to ask if there are other reasons for this before i raise this to our systems dept? Need anyone's help asap. Thanks :)

• Can't install APK hosted my own apache server

  I've exported an apk from eclipse. I am able to install it without any problem if I copy it to the phone's sd card. When trying to download via phone's (Galaxy S) browser I get: "Download unsuccessful". I have set mime type application/vnd.android.package-archive in the mime.types, restarted apache, still same result. Also tried : <a href="downloads/my_apk.apk" type="application/vnd.android.package-archive">Download App</a> Still no luck. I am able to download and install applications from android market. I suspect that apache is not sending the mime type but this is just a shot in the dark. How can I fix the problem and be able to install APKs from my web server? (or at least to check if apache sends correct header with mime type) Any help will be appreciated.

  To save both client download time and network usage, is it possible to use the localStorage feature of HTML5 to store contents of linked stylesheets, javascript files and binary data (e.g. images), rather than hitting the server each time? Would that just complicate things - since I assume you would have to add the linked asset via JavaScript rather than just a script or link element, breaking the page for those without JavaScript enabled)? Unless you can parse the content (using HEAD requested to check last modified date and other headers) before the browser downloads it. Or best just to stick with 304 Not Modified and eTag headers?
