  • Artificially create a connection timeout error

    I've had a bug in our software that occurs when I receive a connection timeout. These errors are very rare (usually when my connection gets dropped by our internal network). How can I generate this kind of effect artificially so I can test our software? If it matters the app is written in C++/MFC using CAsyncSocket classes. Edit: I've tried using a non-existant host, and I get the socket error: WSAEINVAL (10022) Invalid argument My next attempt was to use Alexander's suggestion of connecting to a different port, e.g. 81 (on my own server though). That worked great. Exactly the same as a dropped connection (60 second wait, then error). Thank you!

  • How to use SMS content provider? Where are the docs?

    Hi, I'd like to be able to read the system's SMS content provider. Basically I wanted to make an SMS messaging app, but it would only be useful if I could see past threads etc. It seems like there's a content provider for this, but I can't find documentation for it - anyone know where that is?     I need to OCR a specific region of a scanned document and I am using MODI (Microsoft's Document Imaging COM object). My code currently OCR's the entire page (quite accurately!), but I would like to target a specific region of the page where the text is always static (order number). How can I do this?   • Multiple jQuery UI buttons with same ID

    There might be a really simple solution to this question, but i just don't see it! I have a page with a list of items. every item has the same jquery ui button (its inside a dialog and adds that item to a list). i identify the item via the parenting DIV holding the DB id. So far so good... The Problem is only the first button on the list works! The second, third etc. buttons don't show any reaction at all. The buttons all have the same id - as the list is dynamic and the same action is triggered with every click. Only the parenting ID changes.     I'm writing a download manager using C#/WPF, and I just encountered this error: This type of CollectionView does not support changes to its SourceCollection from a thread different from the Dispatcher thread. The basic flow of my program is that a few web pages/downloads are enqueued at the start, and then they're downloaded asynchronously. When an HTML page has completed downloading, I parse it and look for more stuff to download, then enqueue it directly from within the worker thread. I get that error when trying to send out the CollectionChanged event on my customized queue class. However, I need to fire that event so that the GUI can get updated. What are my options?

Observe the following piece of an msbuild script: <ItemGroup> <R Include="-Microsoft.Design#CA1000" /> <R Include="-Microsoft.Design#CA1002" /> </ItemGroup> I want to convert it to /ruleid:-Microsoft.Design#CA1000 /ruleid:-Microsoft.Design#CA1002 Now, the best I came up with is @(R -> '/ruleid:%(Identity)'), but this only yields /ruleid:-Microsoft.Design#CA1000;/ruleid:-Microsoft.Design#CA1002 Note the semi-colon separating the two rules, instead of a space. This is bad, it is not recognized by the fxcop - I need a space there. Now, this is a simple example, so I could just declare something like this: <PropertyGroup> <R>/ruleid:-Microsoft.Design#CA1000 /ruleid:-Microsoft.Design#CA1002</R </PropertyGroup> But, I do not like this, because in reality I have many rules I wish to disable and listing all of them like this is something I wish to avoid.

    I have a TFS build set up to deploy an ASP.net project to a test server. The build works great, and deploys to the test server fine, but instead of putting it into the \Website directory that my IIS webserver is configured for, it puts the build into \Website_20100511.6 Why is the date suffixed to the directory name? Is there a way to turn that off so I can publish directly to the \Website?

  • Django repeating vars/cache issue?

    I'm trying to build a better/more powerful form class for Django. It's working well, except for these sub-forms. Actually, it works perfectly right after I re-start apache, but after I refresh the page a few times, my HTML output starts to look like this: <input class="text" type="text" id="pickup_addr-pickup_addr-pickup_addr-id-pickup_addr-venue" value="" name="pickup_addr-pickup_addr-pickup_addr-pickup_addr-venue" /> The pickup_addr- part starts repeating many times. I was looking for loops around the prefix code that might have cause this to happen, but the output isn't even consistent when I refresh the page, so I think something is getting cached somewhere, but I can't even imagine how that's possible. The prefix car should be reset when the class is initialized, no?   • Impossible to remove directory

    Evidently I've never had to delete a directory using win32 sdk before, because its apparently an impossible task. I've tried anything and everything - RemoveDirectory, SHFileOperation with FO_DELETE, etc. Currently I call CreateDirectory in one thread, start another thread, copy some files to this directory in the new thread, then delete all the files in the directory in the new thread, and then back in the original thread that created the directory, try to delete the now empty directory and it fails. The directory really and truly is empty when I try to delete it, but it makes no difference. The whole thread aspect is irrelevant I think because at one point everything was in one thread and it didn't work. I'm currently setting a SecurityAttributes structure on CreateDirectory to grant access to everyone, but it makes no difference. RemoveDirectory in the past has returned '32' on GetLastError, which I believe is Sharing violation. But even if I just try to delete the empty directory from the command line, it refuses saying, "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." until I shut down the entire application that created the directory. (Note: the directory is created in GetTempPath.)

Trying again, I'm trying to do something like this: I have a bunch of elements I want to grab data from, the data is in the form of classes of the element children. <div id='container'> <span class='a'></span> <span class='b'></span> <span class='c'></span> </div> <div id='container2'> <span class='1'></span> <span class='2'></span> <span class='3'></span> </div> I have a method like this: jQuery.fn.grabData = function(expr) { return this.each(function() { var self = $(this); self.find("span").each(function (){ var info = $(this).attr('class'); collection += info; }); }); }; I to run the method like this: var collection = ''; $('#container').grabData(); $('#container2').grabData(); The collection should be adding to each other so that in the end I get this console.log(collection); : abc123 But collection is undefined in the method. How can I let the method know which collection it should be adding to? Thanks.

    Hi ** changed the example to better express the situation i am using spring 2.5 and have the following situation @Component @Scope("prototype") Class Foo { } class A { @Autowired Foo fooA; } class B { @Autowired Foo fooB; } class C { @Autowired Foo fooC; } i am trying to understand if there is some way to use @Autowired and bind the same instance of FOO onto fooA and fooB while binding a different instance to fooC i understand that if the scope of FOO will be singleton it will work but i am wandering if there is a way to achieve the same goal while using a protoype scope. also please explain is this the correct usage of the autowiring concept ? am i trying to abuse the spring framework purpose

  • Visual C++ overrides/mock objects for unit testing?

    When I'm running unit tests, I want to be able to "stub out" or create a mock object, but I'm running into DLL Hell. For example: There are two DLL libraries built: A.dll and B.dll -- Classes in A.dll have calls to classes in B.dll so when A.dll was built, the link line was using B.lib for the defintions. My test driver (Foo.exe) is testing classes in A.dll, so it links against A.lib. However, I want to "stub out" some of the calls A.dll makes to B.dll with simple versions (return basic value, no DB look up, etc). I can't build an Override.dll that just overrides the needed methods (not entire classes) and replace B.dll because Foo.exe will A) complain that B.dll is missing if I just remove it and put Override.dll in it's place or B) if I rename Override.dll to B.dll, Foo.exe complains that there are unresolved symbols because Override.dll is not a complete implementation of B.dll. Is there a way to do this? Is there a way to statically link Foo.exe with A.lib, B.lib and Override.lib such that it will work without having to completely rebuild A.lib and B.lib to remove the __delcspec(dllexport)? Is there another option?

    Is it an error to call dealloc on a UIViewController from a background thread? It seems that UITextView (can?) eventually call _WebTryThreadLock which results in: bool _WebTryThreadLock(bool): Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread. Background: I have a subclassed NSOperation that takes a selector and a target object to notify. -(id)initWithTarget:(id)target { if (self = [super init]) { _target = [target retain]; } return self; } -(void)dealloc { [_target release]; [super dealloc]; } If the UIViewController has already been dismissed when the NSOperation gets around to running, then the call to release triggers it's dealloc on a background thread.

  • How to customize the process employed by WCF when serializing contract method arguments?

    Dear ladies and sirs. I would like to formulate a contrived scenario, which nevertheless has firm actual basis. Imagine a collection type COuter, which is a wrapper around an instance of another collection type CInner. Both implement IList (never mind the T). Furthermore, a COuter instance is buried inside some object graph, the root of which (let us refer to it as R) is returned from a WCF service method. My question is how can I customize the WCF serialization process, so that when R is returned, the request to serialize the COuter instance will be routed through my code, which will extract CInner and pass it to the serializer instead. Thus the receiving end still gets R, only no COuter instance is found in the object graph. I hoped that http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2220516/how-does-wcf-serialize-the-method-call will contain the answer, unfortunately the article mentioned there (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc163569.aspx) only barely mentions that advanced serialization scenarios are possible using IDataContractSurrogate interface, but no details are given. I am, on the other hand, would really like to see a working example. Thank you very much in advance.
