  • Acquire Internet Explorer window position

    - by Ilya
    How do I get in Internet Explorer values equivalent to: window.outerWidth and window.outerHeight in Firefox ? I've seen some "solution": window.screenLeft and window.screenTop but it is not correct. These properties give inner dimensions. I resize a window and I need values to use with window.resizeTo() later, to restore original size after.

If( authenticated == true) { // I do a redirect } else { // I want to popup an error message on the same page. } 1) I'm not sure how to show the popup message, I would like to make my div element visible with an error message returned from the server, I would have to use Ajax, right? But how? Or are there alternatives which are just as good.

  • stick element to top of page until next element of that type appears

    - by aharon
    I'm having a hard time giving a good description of this, but bear with me: If I have a page structed like this <h2>Chapter 1</h2> <p>Lots of text that has mutiple screen worths of content</p> <h2>Chapter 2</h2> <p>Lots of text...</p> I'd like to have "Chapter 1" absolutely positioned or whatever at the top of the page until the user scrolls down to where "Chapter 2" starts, at which point now "Chapter 2" is displayed at the top of the page. We can add wrapper classes and divs if needed. Solutions that use JQuery would be great.

  • Why exactly is server side HTML rendering faster than client side?

    - by mvbl fst
    I am working on a large web site, and we're moving a lot of functionality to the client side (Require.js, Backbone and Handlebars stack). There are even discussions about possibly moving all rendering to the client side. But reading some articles, especially ones about Twitter moving away from client side rendering, which mention that server side is faster / more reliable, I begin to have questions. I don't understand how rendering fairly simple HTML widgets in JS from JSON and templates is a contemporary browser on a dual core CPU with 4-8 GB RAM is any slower than making dozens of includes in your server side app. Are there any actual real life benchmarking figures regarding this? Also, it seems like parsing HTML templates by server side templating engines can't be any faster than rendering same HTML code from a Handlebars template, especially if this is a precomp JS function?

  • Displaying a component in EditorGridPanel without clicking

    - by Tower
    Hi, Is there a way to display a component in EditorGridPanel without the need to click on the cell? The problem I see on this demo is that the checkboxes are not Ext.form.Checkbox components, and not even inherited from it. The checkboxes are simply background images and since I am building a grid that needs ComboBoxes, it will not be simple to apply a similar hack.

  • Jquery :not()selector

    - by kim
    <html lang="en"> <head> <style> #thisdiv {padding:10px; margin:-15px 0 0 40px; background-color:#333; position:absolute; display:none;} div.block {margin-top:10px; width:200px;} div#thisdiv a {color:#fff;} </style> </head> <body> <div id ="one" class="block"><a href="">one</a></div> <div id="thisdiv">hello</div> <div id ="two"class="block">two</div> <div id ="three"class="block">three/div> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script> <script> $(document).ready(function() { $('#one').hover(function() { $('#thisdiv').fadeIn(400); }); $('div:not(#thisdiv)').mouseleave(function() { $('#thisdiv').fadeOut(400) }); }); </script> </body> </html> #thisdiv doesn't fadeOut. I could have used the following, but it only fades out if the cursor mouse outs of #thisdiv. Is there any way i can solve this so when the cursor navigates away from anyway, the div still fade out. $('#thisdiv').mouseleave(function() { $('#thisdiv').fadeOut(400) }); I couldn't figure out what's why jquery's :not selector is not doing what I wanted to. Am i using it wrongly?

  • Toggle Image Overlays in Google Maps API v3

    - by Douglas
    Hey guys. I've been building a small library for myself for a job I have at the moment building a map for a university. I've gotten pretty well everything I need in some basic form, but one thing has simply not been working, and is simply not giving me results. The university itself is sort of in a partnership with the neighboring college. It's been decided that both campuses should be included. I need to be able to toggle on/off the overlays of the campuses individually. i.e. Start with all campuses ON. User then turns OFF college campus, university overlay stays up. User can then turn it back on to display the college once more, or turn off the university as well, leaving no overlays. Here's a work in progress I'm doing at the moment: http://bgsweb.ca/maps/generator.html Basically, we need to take the one overlay, split it into multiple overlays, and enable the toggling of each individual overlay. Any assistance much appreciated!

  • jquery specific show buttons on hover

    - by bob
    I have an application creating a bunch of divs through a loop. Each div has the class "product" so it looks like <div class="product"> !.....stuff here ....! <div class="show_on_hover">...buttons here... </div> </div> so there are about 12 of these same divs per page. I would like to hover over a specific one and show the specific "show_on_hover" div which is initially set to display:none. $('.product').hover(function() { $(.show_on_hover).show(); }, function () { $(.show_on_hover).hide(); } ); That is what I have so far but it will show ALL of the .show_on_hovers on the page so I am wondering how to get only the specific one you have moused over to show. This effect is seen on youtube when you mouseover any of the comments, and some comment tools pop up. Thanks!

  • jQuery infinite loop w/ tablesorter

    - by Wells
    Got myself in a funny situation: page has three tables. Using sortEnd, any time you sort one table, it sorts the other three. However, since I bound sortEnd to the function that does the sorting, you get a infinite loop of sorting/resorting. It looks like: $("table.tablesorter").tablesorter({widgets: ['zebra']}).bind("sortEnd", function() { $(this).find("th.headerSortDown,.headerSortUp").each(function(i) { index = $(this).attr("cellIndex"); order = ($(this).is(".headerSortDown")) ? 1 : 0; $("table.tablesorter").tablesorter({sortList: [[index,order]]}); }); }); Any tips on how to clean this up?
