    For a while I have been struggling to integrate scala with java methods that might return null. I came up with the following utility which helps a lot: // produce an Option, nulls become None object Maybe { def apply[T](t:T) = if (t==null) None else Some(t) } Maybe(javaClass.getResultCouldBeNull()).map( result => doSomeWork(result) ) I have a few questions about this solution: Is there a better or more standard pattern to use? Am I duplicating something that already exists? Does this functionality have hidden gotchas?

    hey i was wondering how i could make a copy of a sqlite3 table and save it to a seperate file in python. im confused as in python your sqlite3 object can only be connected to one database so how would i make it save to a seperate database? the reason i want to do this is in sqlite3 the database file size can never get smaller, and ive made alot of changes so i want just copy this table to another file which wont have all the extra empty space and then delete the origonal database thanks guys

  • Using WebSockets in a C# Web Application?

    I know its possible to use WebSockets within C# using a console application running along side the web application but Im wondering if its possible to use the requests on the C# web application to create the WebSockets. I've been looking through ASP.Net and Im starting to think it wont be possible unless I use straight up C# and create my own HTTP server and then use the same socket object to generate Web Sockets (similar to the way Node.js and Socket.IO work). Any thoughts on ways to include WebSockets on a C# web application without having multiple servers / projects?

    linq to sql visual studio Object-Relational designer generates C# entity class names same as the table names (except pluralizing it). so if the table name is authors it generates entity class with name "author". If the table name is Customers it generates class with name "Customer". Is there any option that can be set to make the designer generate entity class names as pascal cased. I am using VS 2010 if that makes any difference. Thanks.

Essentially if i take a url and go get the html from that url in .net i get a response but this would come in the form of either a file or stream or string. What if i want an actual document or something I can crawl like an xmldocument object? I also create a lot of web services which are consumed via AJAX applications. Do these technologies really help you in speeding up development times? Do you still have to build the database or object code first?

  • VBA Excel - Workbook_SheetChange

    Hopefully this question hasn't already been asked, I tried searching for an answer and couldn't find anything. This is probably a simple question, but I am writing my first macro in excel and am having a problem that I can't find out a solution to. I wrote a couple of macros that basically sum up columns dynamically (so that the number of rows can change and the formula moves down automatically) based on a value in another column of the same row, and I call those macros from the event Workbook_SheetChange. The problem I'm having is, I change a cell's value from my macro to display the result of the sum, and this then calls Workbook_SheetChange again, which I do not want. Right now it works, but I can trace it and see that Workbook_SheetChange is being called multiple times. This is preventing me from adding other cell changes to the macros, because then it results in an infinite loop. I want the macros to run every time a change is made to the sheet, but I don't see any way around allowing the macros to change a cell's value, so I don't know what to do. I will paste my code below, in case it is helpful.   • HTTPService resultFormat, how to choose

    HTTPService has a property resultFormat which can be set to any of the following: array e4x flashvars object text xml I looked at the documentation to understand the difference, but still couldn't understand when to use each. I'm looking for the lightest weight of all of them. P.S. I'm consuming output from my own server, so can change the output format as needed to make it compatible with each.
