  • Pre-generating GUIDs for use in python?

    - by rjuiaa1
I have a python program that needs to generate several guids and hand them back with some other data to a client over the network. It may be hit with a lot of requests in a short time period and I would like the latency to be as low as reasonably possible. Ideally, rather than generating new guids on the fly as the client waits for a response, I would rather be bulk-generating a list of guids in the background that is continually replenished so that I always have pre-generated ones ready to hand out. I am using the uuid module in python on linux. I understand that this is using the uuidd daemon to get uuids. Does uuidd already take care of pre-genreating uuids so that it always has some ready? From the documentation it appears that it does not. Is there some setting in python or with uuidd to get it to do this automatically? Is there a more elegant approach then manually creating a background thread in my program that maintains a list of uuids?

  • Is there a Novatel Wireless Modem Emulator or something similar?

    - by David Brown
Novatel Wireless provides their NovaCore SDK for developers wishing to interface with their line of modems. I'm currently developing an open source managed wrapper for it, but I'm having difficulties with testing. I own a Novatel MiFi and have mobile broadband service through Sprint, but that can only get me so far. The device is already activated, thus I can't test the network activation features of the NovaCore SDK. There are also certain features only available for HSPA modems, which I am not able to get in my area. Is there an emulator capable of emulating a Novatel Wireless modem so that I can test my library without physical hardware and an actual data connection? If not, do you have any other suggestions that might help in this situation? I've contacted Novatel Wireless via email and their developer forum, but have not received a response. Thanks!

  • Any experience with CryptoObfuscator or CryptoLicensing?

    - by anon2009
Hi, I'm on the market for a good (and cheap) .Net obfuscator. I'm developing a .Net windows forms application. I evaluated IntelliLock and SmartAssebly so far. I quit the first on lack of support (I sent two emails with no response, no support site, etc). SmartAssebly looks pretty good but is too rich for my blood. Has anyone used CryptoObfuscator? Any good or bad experiences? Once, I have you here, what about CryptoLicensing? Thanks

    - by Tomas
Hello, I have ASP.NET project which do some file access and manipulation, the methods which I use for file access are below. Now I need to access files on another server shared folder, how to do that? I easily can change file path to shared folder path but I get "can't access" error because shares are password protected. As I understand I need somehow to send credentials to remote server before executing methods below. How to do that? FileStream("c:\MyProj\file.doc", FileMode.OpenOrCreate, FileAccess.Write) Context.Response.TransmitFile("c:\MyProj\file.doc"); Regards, Tomas

  • Django query: Count and Group BY

    - by Tyler Lane
    I have a query that I'm trying to figure the "django" way of doing it: I want to take the last 100 calls from Call. Which is easy: calls = Call.objects.all().order_by('-call_time')[:100] However the next part I can't find the way to do it via django's ORM. I want to get a list of the call_types and the number of calls each one has WITHIN that previous queryset i just did. Normally i would do a query like this: "SELECT COUNT(id),calltype FROM call WHERE id IN ( SELECT id FROM call ORDER BY call_time DESC LIMIT 100 ) GROUP BY calltype;" I can't seem to find the django way of doing this particular query. Here are my 2 models: class Call( models.Model ): call_time = models.DateTimeField( "Call Time", auto_now = False, auto_now_add = False ) description = models.CharField( max_length = 150 ) response = models.CharField( max_length = 50 ) event_num = models.CharField( max_length = 20 ) report_num = models.CharField( max_length = 20 ) address = models.CharField( max_length = 150 ) zip_code = models.CharField( max_length = 10 ) geom = models.PointField(srid=4326) calltype = models.ForeignKey(CallType) objects = models.GeoManager() class CallType( models.Model ): name = models.CharField( max_length = 50 ) description = models.CharField( max_length = 150 ) active = models.BooleanField() time_init = models.DateTimeField( "Date Added", auto_now = False, auto_now_add = True ) objects = models.Manager()

  • Displaytag export option is not working

    - by Nirmal
    Hello All, I am using Displaytag framework for pagination & exporting purpose. In that i am also using Strut2Tiles Integration. Whenever i am calling any action class it will returning me a list & through Displaytag i am successfully displaying record on my page. For that my jsp page's code looks like : <s:set name="selectedPageSize" value="selectedPageSize" scope="request"/> <s:set value="accountList" scope="request" name="accountList"/> <display:table name="accountList" export="true" class="table" requestURI="" id="accountList" pagesize="${selectedPageSize}" > <display:setProperty name="export.pdf" value="true" /> <display:column property="id" sortable="true" class="sort-title"/> <display:column property="name" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="contactPerson" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="phone1" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="phone2" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="fax" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="email" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="webSite" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="address1" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="address2" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="countryId.name" title="Country" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="stateId.name" title="State" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="countryId.name" title="City" sortable="true"/> <display:column property="isDeleted" sortable="true"/> <display:column title="Delete"> <s:url id="removeUrl" action="finance/deleteAccount.action"> <s:param name="id" value="#attr.accountList.id" /> </s:url> <s:a href="%{removeUrl}" theme="ajax" targets="accountList">Remove</s:a> </display:column> <display:column title="Update"> <s:url id="updateUrl" action="finance/updateAccount.action"> <s:param value="#attr.accountList.id" name="id"/> </s:url> <s:a href="%{updateUrl}&action=update" targets="accountlist">Update</s:a> </display:column> Actually this page is displaying through tiles configuration. Here i have enabled the export option, so it is showing me the exporting options like CSV, EXCEL, XML. But whenver i am clicking on that CSV link, my web browser hanged, means nothing is displayed on it For that exporting solution i have also added filter in my web.xml. My web.xml looks like: <filter> <filter-name>struts2</filter-name> <filter-class>org.apache.struts2.dispatcher.FilterDispatcher</filter-class> </filter> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>struts2</filter-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> <filter> <filter-name>ResponseOverrideFilter</filter-name> <filter-class>org.displaytag.filter.ResponseOverrideFilter</filter-class> </filter> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>ResponseOverrideFilter</filter-name> <url-pattern>*.action</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>ResponseOverrideFilter</filter-name> <url-pattern>*.jsp</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> <listener> <listener-class>org.apache.struts2.tiles.StrutsTilesListener</listener-class> </listener> <listener> <listener-class>org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener</listener-class> </listener> <context-param> <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name> <param-value>/WEB-INF/classes/webApplicationContext.xml</param-value> </context-param> <welcome-file-list> <welcome-file>jsp/welcome.jsp</welcome-file> </welcome-file-list> I have also included following list of libraries of displaytag : 1) displaytag-1.2.jar 2) displaytag-export-poi-1.2.jar 3) displaytag-portlet-1.2.jar The exception that i am getting is : 2009-05-09 12:02:38,234 DEBUG (org.displaytag.tags.TableTag:1524) - Exportfilter NOT enabled 2009-05-09 12:02:38,312 WARN (org.displaytag.tags.TableTag:63) - Exception: [.TableTag] Unable to reset response before returning exported data. • Working with a Java Mail Server for Testing

    - by Charlie
I'm in the process of testing an application that takes mail out of a mailbox, performs some action based on the content of that mail, and then sends a response mail depending on the result of the action. I'm looking for a way to write tests for this application. Ideally, I'd like for these tests to bring up their own mail server, push my test emails to a folder on this mail server, and have my application scrape the mail out of the mail server that my test started. Configuring the application to use the mailserver is not difficult, but I do not know where to look for a programatic way of starting a mail server in Java. I've looked at JAMES, but I am unable to figure out how to start the server from within my test. So the question is this: What can I use for a mail server in Java that I can configure and start entirely within Java?

  • Zend Framework REST service HTTP status code problem

    - by Baversjo
I'm trying to create a REST service in zend framework. I'm using zend server. Here's my code: class ArticleController extends Zend_Rest_Controller { public function postAction() { //Create the acticle and return it $data = array("foo" => 0, "boo" => 11); $this->getResponse()->setHttpResponseCode(201); $this->_helper->json($data); } The HTTP response returns the appropriate headers and JSON data but under the JSON data there's an apache error document. The only way I can think of to remove the appended error document is to add the following in my httpd.conf file: ErrorDocument 201 " " But what's the "corrent" way of doing this?

  • Posting from JQuery to WCF Service

    - by Villager
Hello, I have a WCF Service (called "myservice.svc") that takes a message from a user and saves it to the database. It returns a response to the user in the form of a number. This operation looks like this: [OperationContract] [WebGet] public string SubmitMessage(string message) { try { // SAVE TO DATABASE return "1"; } catch (Exception ex) { return "0"; } } I want to call this operation from some JQuery. I'm using the approach shown here: $.getJSON( "/services/myService.svc", {message:"some text"}, function (data) { alert("success"); } ); Oddly, the "success" alert is never displayed. In addition, I have set a breakpoint in my WCF service and it is never being tripped. What am I doing wrong? Thank you

  • How reliable is HTTP compression using gzip?

    - by Liam
YSlow has suggested that I use HTTP compression to improve the performance of my site. However, as noted by Yahoo that are some problems. There are known issues with browsers and proxies that may cause a mismatch in what the browser expects and what it receives with regard to compressed content. Fortunately, these edge cases are dwindling as the use of older browsers drops off. The Apache modules help out by adding appropriate Vary response headers automatically. I understand that the most common problem occurs with IE6 behind a proxy. But how common are these problems today? To quantify it, roughly what percentage of web users experience bugs with HTTP compression?

  • wxPython: Sending a signal to several widgets

    - by cool-RR
I am not even sure how to ask this question. I want something that is like the wxPython event system, but a bit different. I'll try to explain. When there is a certain change in my program (a "tree change", never mind what that is,) I want to send a signal to all the widgets in my program, notifying them that a "tree change" has occurred, and they should change their display in response. How do I do this? It sounds a little bit like wxPython events, but not really, since events don't spread to all widgets, as far as I know. What would be a good way to do this?

  • Servlet 3.0 logout doesn't work

    - by Kevin
I've got a problem with the authentication features of Servlet 3.0: With this code in a Servlet v3: log.info(""+request.getUserPrincipal()); log.info(""+request.getAuthType()); log.info("===^==="); request.logout() ; log.info(""+request.getUserPrincipal()); log.info(""+request.getAuthType()); request.authenticate(response) ; log.info("===v==="); log.info(""+request.getUserPrincipal()); log.info(""+request.getAuthType()); I would always expect to see the Username/login windows, because of the logout() function. Instead, it seems to be a 'cache' mechanism which repopulate the credential and cancel my logout ... Admin BASIC ===^=== null null ===v=== Admin BASIC Is it a problem with my firefox, or something I'm missing in the Servlet code?

  • How can something like BOSH be implemented using Java Servlets

    - by John
BOSH (Bidirectional-streams Over Synchronous HTTP) is a sneaky way of implementing 2-way client-server communication in situations where true server-push is not allowed, most obviously to let a server push data to a browser client without having to use client polling. It works by the client sending a request to the server, and the server doesn't respond immediately... rather it remembers the request but only responds when it has some data to send. When this happens the client immediately sends another request so there is virtually always a 'stored request' sitting on the server ready to push data to the client. At least, that's how I think it works! My question is how you can do this using a Java EE stack i.e standard servlets. I'm rusty with them, is it allowed to send no response and cache the request somehow? If anyone could share (pseudo) code what a servlet class for handling BOSH might look like, I'd be real grateful.

  • Oracle 10g - JAXB unmarshalling is not working as expected

    - by Santhosh Reddy Mandadi
We're using Oracle 10g application server and deployed the Web service and trying to deploy the web service client. Server is working fine i.e.; marshalling is working fine. We're getting the output from the service properly but the search client is not unmarshalling (parsing) the response received. We're using all the tags under same name space so there is no name space problem. Different collections would exists in the XSD. Has anyone faced similar kind of issue? Is there any solution for this? Thanks Santhosh

  • How do I check out Eclipse projects from CVS using the command line

    - by Jeff James
Hi. I'm trying to check out the Mylyn project from Eclipse. However, I can't use Eclipse to check out the projects and am having to do it via the command line. I'm behind a firewall so am basing my attempt on http://wiki.eclipse.org/CVS_Howto#CVS_and_firewalls. I'm not very familiar with CVS. When I run my CVS command, it fails to connect: cvs -td :pserver:[email protected]:443/cvsroot/tools checkout mylyn -> main: Session ID is w4PO5KiMwQmaD6uu -> main loop with CVSROOT=/cvsroot/tools -> safe_location( where=(null) ) -> open_connection_to_server (:pserver:[email protected]:443/cvsroot/tools) -> Connecting to proxy.eclipse.org(206.191.52.48):443. cvs [checkout aborted]: unrecognized auth response from proxy.eclipse.org: SSH-1.99-OpenSSH_4.2 Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? • python socket.recv/sendall call blocking

    - by fsm
Hi everyone. This post is incorrectly tagged 'send' since I cannot create new tags. I have a very basic question about this simple echo server. Here are some code snippets. client while True: data = raw_input("Enter data: ") mySock.sendall(data) echoedData = mySock.recv(1024) if not echoedData: break print echoedData server while True: print "Waiting for connection" (clientSock, address) = serverSock.accept() print "Entering read loop" while True: print "Waiting for data" data = clientSock.recv(1024) if not data: break clientSock.send(data) clientSock.close() Now this works alright, except when the client sends an empty string (by hitting the return key in response to "enter data: "), in which case I see some deadlock-ish behavior. Now, what exactly happens when the user presses return on the client side? I can only imagine that the sendall call blocks waiting for some data to be added to the send buffer, causing the recv call to block in turn. What's going on here? Thanks for reading!

  • Batch file to wait for other program to load/initialize, then execute command?

    - by Jason N
I need some assistance writing what should be a fairly basic .BAT file. I load my main program, but that program takes ~20secs to load and be initialized. I have another command-line API I can execute to interact with this above program, but obviously until the above program is loaded and initialized there's no point in trying. If the program isn't running the command-line API returns a string stating exactly this - otherwise it just works and exits. Easy. So I want to wait until the above is loaded/initialized before firing my API command(s) at it. I could place a sleep/wait in there, but I want something more solid. The ~20sec wait is not necessarily consistent. Any way to execute the command-line API over and over until the response is satisfactory, then exit? J

Then I refresh browser it create rendering issue some custom pushpin on map gets disappeared. This behavior continues with pushpin. Pushpin are (.png) images and I am not using default bing map thumbtacks. May be it is issue of browser caching content or Bing map control rendering issues on various browsers. Waiting for your response.

  • remove json attribute where attribute is a variable

    - by pedalpete
    I have a news feed where items in the feed are created from JSON returned from a server. When the user takes an action on an item, I want to remove it from the object via javascript. The feed looks like this: {"newsFeed":[{"feedId":"1", "title":"item1 title", "desc":"description of the item"}, {"feedId":"2", "title":"item2 title", "desc":"description of the item"}]} I'm trying to remove a JSON attribute or entry where the feedId is passed in via a variable using jQuery. I'm not sure exactly where I'm going wrong here, but when I alert the feed before and after the removal of the object, I'm getting the same response: function removeFromFeed(feedId){ var newsFeed=jQuery('div#newsFeed').data('newsFeed'); alert(newsFeed.toSource()); delete newsFeed.feedId[feedId] jQuery('div#newsFeed').data('newsFeed',newsFeed); alert(newsFeed.toSource()); }

  • Interacting with system commands using a web dev language

    - by Jamie
Hi all, First of all, sorry for the vague title. Let me explain. At work we're currently using SunGrid I've been assigned a project to create a web interface wrapper for interacting with the engine. i.e. displaying users jobs, submitting jobs via a nice GUI etc. (most of the sgrid commands output xml which is nice) My question for you chaps is the following: What web dev language would you use to interact with the system? i.e. use the language to do a system call and evaluate the response. I'm not after an argument on which language is best, I just would like to know which language is specifically good for interacting with the system and is also good for web dev.

  • Secondary Domain Adds Extra Folder in URL during Postbacks

    - by Joshua
My ASP.NET Website (C#, 3.5 framework, IIS7) is hosted at GoDaddy. There are multiple sites on the account. Currently when I perform postbacks or Response.Redirects on a secondary web site, the following URL appears in the address bar: www.mywebsite.com/webfolder/default.aspx Where the "webfolder" is the sub-directory on the server where the web site is hosted (i.e. SeverRoot/webfolder). The site seems to work with or without the folder in the URL. Is there a way to remove the folder from the URLs during postback? I think I have to use URL Rewriting (which GoDaddy supports using Microsoft's Rewrite Module) but I'm not sure how.

  • Having an issue with overwriting an element of a file correctly (numeric)

    - by IngeniousHax
This is an ATM style program, but currently it doesn't do exactly what I need it to do... I need to get the current balance, and when money is transferred from either checking or savings, it should add it to checking and subtract it from savings. which is does, but not correctly...
