I understand how to use REST for doing general entity interactions - using urls names to map to entities and the HTTP verbs to map to actions on those entities. But what is the generally accepted way of looking at "actions" more like RPC?
For example, let's say I want to send a command for the device to reset? There's no real "entity" here or do I do something like POST to http://mydevice/device/reset?
In the days of parallel printers one used to be able to send a command on LPT1 and receive back standard info such as life count etc.
Now, with USB devices, have we lost that capability? Or is there still a way to read the info?
When running a groovy script from Eclipse, the following line:
def rootLoader = this.class.getClassLoader().getRootLoader()
is null. When I run the script directly from command line, this is not null. How can I find out why this happens?
I know it's a basic question but I've tried every combination of propedit propset, etc.
In an existing project, there's a file (let's call it 'error.log) I want to ignore for all future commits. What's the command-line syntax to do so?
I am trying to set up automated .htaccess updating. This clearly needs to be as secure as possible, however right now the best I can do file permission-wise is 666.
What can I do to setup either my server or php code so that my script's fwrite() command will work with 644 or better? For instance is there a way to set my script(s) to run as owner?
Following command converts date formated as MM/DD/YYYY to seconds.
date -d "01/21/2014" +%s
How can I convert DD/MM/YYYY formated date to seconds?
Thanks
So I have a tabbed ui "form", each tab is quiet complicated so it is loaded via the .load('item.html'); command.
All good, when the user clicks to a different tab, I want to read a property, maybe execute a function from within the ajax loaded div.
What is the best way to get to these properties and methods from outsite the ajax loaded div?
I'm running a command line programme as administrator,
but I found that PATH in System variable has higher precedence than in Administrator variable .
Is that true,can someone give some documents on this?
Hi,
Looking at the msdn, there was an example on "GO" command. Why there is:
USE somedb

...
...
It it neccesary to select db in different batch? Thanks for explanation!
I cant seem to send an email using PHP's mail(). I have also tried PHPMailer and Swiftmail with no success. However, the following command on the server delivers mail successfully.
cat test.txt | mail -s "test mail" [email protected]
Is there a way to trace where the problem is coming from? mail() just seems to return true or false.
I have installed latest JDK (x64) on Windows 7 but browsers still can't run the java apps. I understand that JDK includes JRE. JDK is installed correctly and from command line (Java -version) shows installed version as well. Any suggestion please? Thank you
Hi there,
recently I started using Emacs as a Python IDE, and it not quite intuitive... The problem I am struggling with right now is how to pass command line arguments to the inferior python shell when the buffer is evaluated with C-c C-c. Thanks for help.
Using a TSQL update command against a SQLServer database, how can I update a column of type FLOAT with the smallest possible double value?
The smallest possible double value in hex notation being 3ff0 0000 0000 0001
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double%5Fprecision)
I've got thousands of urls from many hosts I need to screenshot.
I can use the lib fine from the command line, but how can I integrate it into my code so I can take multiple screenshots simultaneously?
I think it's something to do with xvfb as with the answer to this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1747022/how-to-kill-headless-x-server-started-via-python but I'm not sure what exactly.
I want to streamline my library on FreeBsd using PUID from MusicBrainz. I need a command line utility for this, but I have not been able to find. It would be nice to give input mp3-file and receive PUID as result.
I have a string a and I would like to split it in half depending on its length, so I have
a-front = len(a) / 2 + len(a) % 2
this works fine in the interpreter but when i run the module from the command line python gives me a SyntaxError: can't assign to operator. What could be the issue here.
I've just discovered fugitive.vim, which is pretty cool. However, I've run into a problem (this is using windows xp, msys git 1.7, fugitive.vim 1.1, and gvim 7.2). Adding files to the index and checking the status works just fine, but when I do a :GCommit, a command prompt flashes for a second and nothing happens. No way to type a commit message and nothing is committed. Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong?
I'm new to gcc, and trying to compile a c++ program which includes mysql.h using the command:
g++ -o test test.cpp -L/usr/include/mysql -lmysqlclient -I/usr/include/mysql
It works without issue, but I was wondering if someone could explain the arguments to me. I don't like using commands I don't understand.
Thanks
Is it possible to do something like this:
INSERT INTO table(col1, col2) VALUES(something_from_another_table, value);
With something_from_another_table being a SQL command? Like, is there something I can do that's equivelant to:
INSERT INTO table(col1, col2) VALUES((SELECT value FROM table2 WHERE id = 3), value);
Is there a way to delete unused indexes in Google App Engine Java application?
The only one way I was able to find is to create an empty Python GAE application and run the following command:
appcfg.py vacuum_indexes /path/to/myapp/
Is there a more intelligent way?
My apologies if my title is not descriptive enough, I believe the following will be.
I have 3 files which are just plain text, within each file, is a date
Date: 2012-08-31 for example
I would like to get a command/script to find this and update to the current date, but the date will be ever changing and may not be known going in (without viewing the contents of the file
Knowing what the date is, its simple enough with sed, but how can I do this knowing the syntax of the line I want to modify, but not the specific values. ("Date: " at least is unchanging)
I have a custom Tab Control that I have created, but I am having an issue. I have an Editable TextBox as part of the custom TabControl View.
<Controls:EditableTextControl x:Name="PageTypeName"
Style="{StaticResource ResourceKey={x:Type Controls:EditableTextControl}}" Grid.Row="0" TabIndex="0"
Uid="0"
AutomationProperties.AutomationId="PageTypeNameTextBox"
AutomationProperties.Name="PageTypeName"
Visibility="{Binding ElementName=PageTabControl,Path=ShowPageType}">
<Controls:EditableTextControl.ContextMenu>
<ContextMenu x:Name="TabContextMenu">
<MenuItem Header="Rename Page Type" Command="{Binding Path=PlacementTarget.EnterEditMode, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType=ContextMenu}}"
AutomationProperties.AutomationId="RenamePageTypeMenuItem"
AutomationProperties.Name="RenamePageType"/>
<MenuItem Header="Delete Page Type" Command="{Binding Path=PageTypeDeletedCommand}"
AutomationProperties.AutomationId="DeletePageTypeMenuItem"
AutomationProperties.Name="DeletePageType"/>
</ContextMenu>
</Controls:EditableTextControl.ContextMenu>
<Controls:EditableTextControl.Content>
<!--<Binding Path="CurrentPageTypeViewModel.Name" Mode="TwoWay"/>-->
<Binding ElementName="PageTabControl" Path="CurrentPageTypeName" Mode ="TwoWay"/>
</Controls:EditableTextControl.Content>
</Controls:EditableTextControl>
In the Content section I am binding to a Dependency Prop called CurrentPageTypeName. This Depedency prop is part of this custom Tab Control.
public static DependencyProperty CurrentPageTypeNameProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("CurrentPageTypeName", typeof(object), typeof(TabControlView));
public object CurrentPageTypeName
{
get { return GetValue(CurrentPageTypeNameProperty) as object; }
set { SetValue(CurrentPageTypeNameProperty, value); }
}
In another view, where I am using the custom TabControl I then bind my property, with the actual name value, to CurrentPageTypeName property as seen below:
<Views:TabControlView Grid.Row="0" Name="RunPageTabControl"
TabItemsSource="{Binding RunPageTypeViewModels}"
SelectedTab="{Binding Converter={StaticResource debugConverter}}"
CurrentPageTypeName="{Binding Path=RunPageName, Mode=TwoWay}"
TabContentTemplateSelector="{StaticResource tabItemTemplateSelector}"
SelectedIndex="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type UserControl}}, Path=DataContext.SelectedTabIndex}"
ShowPageType="Hidden" >
<!--<Views:TabControlView.TabContentTemplate>
<DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type ViewModels:RunPageTypeViewModel}">
<RunViews:RunPageTypeView/>
</DataTemplate>
</Views:TabControlView.TabContentTemplate>-->
</Views:TabControlView>
My problem is that nothing seems to be happening. It is grabbing its Content from the Itemsource, and not from my chained Dependency props. Is what I am trying even possible? If so, what have I done wrong.
Thanks for looking.
