• Count the number of lines in a Java String

  Need some compact code for counting the number of lines in a string in Java. The string is to be separated by \r or \n. Each instance of those newline characters will be considered as a separate line. For example, "Hello\nWorld\nThis\nIs\t" should return 4. The prototype is private static int countLines(String str) {...} Can someone provide a compact set of statements? I have solution at here but it is too long, I think. Thank you.

I have ansynchronous task that displays a loading dialog while it loads all the tabs.   I am fairly new to java and I am trying to find if the file specified in the LINUX path exists. private void validateFilePath(String filePath) { File dir = new File(filePath); if(dir.exists()){ System.out.println("File exists in the path " + dir); setTARGET_IMG_DIR("filePath"); return; }else{ System.out.println("File does not exists in the path: " + dir); return; } } The dir.exists works fine if I give a absolute path from my root like this /Users/yv/Documents/Eclipse-workspace/InputParser/bin/test.txt but if I give a relative path like test.txt or /InputParser/bin/test.txt it says files does not exists. I am planing on creating a jar of this projects and hence this should work with both relative path(files in the same directory) and absolute path from the root. How can I handle this ? Is it possible to search for the absolute path of that file from the root and append it to the file name ?

• Question regarding inheritance in wxWidgets.

  Currently I'm attempting to write my own wxObject, and I would like for the class to be based off of the wxTextCtrl class. Does anyone happen to know why it doesn't inherit the constructor? Thanks in advance for any help!

  I'm attempting to use the Interactive Brokers ActiveX API, but I'm having a little trouble: error CS0012: The type 'System.Windows.Forms.AxHost' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. My code: namespace DataFeed.Gateway { class IBGateway : IGateway { private AxTWSLib.AxTws tws; //<-- the error line //... } } I have a console application, so I'm wondering if that might be the reason why ActiveX is not working... or is there something else going on here? Note: I've dropped the AxTWSlib.dll in my project folder and I've added it to the project references... no problems there.

  I have understand that the only way to inject KeyEvents in the Android System is to implement an Input Method. I have created my IME with the purpose to control from remote the device. I emulate the hardware keys using the method private void keyDownUp(int keyEventCode) { getCurrentInputConnection().sendKeyEvent( new KeyEvent(KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN, keyEventCode)); getCurrentInputConnection().sendKeyEvent( new KeyEvent(KeyEvent.ACTION_UP, keyEventCode)); } in my class that extends InputMethodService. It works fine until an AlertDialog, or the menu of a Spinner comes in foreground. Also the windows that appears when the Menu key is problematic. My IME can't get focus on them, and the keyevents are sent to the activity behind them. Using hardware keys, the Dialog get the focus and you can select the botton on the Dialog. How can i emulate that, using the IME(or anything else)?

I've even tried putting br in the try clause, setting it as final, etc. Does this have anything to do with Java not support closures? • Good memory profiling, leak and error detection for Windows

  I'm currently looking for a good memory / leak detection tool for Windows. A few years ago, I used Numega's Boundschecker, which was VERY good. Right now it seems to have been sold to Compuware, which apparently sold it again to some other company. Trying to evaluate a demo of the current version has been so far very frustrating, in the best "enterprisy" tradition: (a) no advertised prices on their website (Great Red Flashing Lights of Warning); (b) contact form asked for number of employeers and other private information; (c) no response to my emails asking for a evaluation and price. I had to conclude that BoundsChecker is now one of "those" products. Y'know, the type where you innocently call and tomorrow 3 men in black suits turn up at your building wanting to talk to you about "partnerships" and not-so-secretly gauge the size of your company and therefore how much they can get away with charging you. SO, rant aside, can anyone recommend an excellent memory checking/leak detection tool, how much it costs, and suggestions for where to buy?

  I got a HttpResponse.Filter filter that replaces text in the HTML. I've created a class that derives from Stream and implemented the Write method: public override void Write(byte[] buffer, int offset, int count) I read all bytes from buffer and store them in a private StringBuilder, then I replace the text, and write the string back to the Stream. But how can I determine when the stream is at the end of the stream. I.e. how do I determine when to write back the html (string) to the stream?

  Hey guys, I have the following classes: class Vigil < ActiveRecord::Base after_update :do_something_cool private def do_something_cool # Sweet code here end end class NewsFeedObserver < ActionController::Caching::Sweeper observe Vigil def after_update # Create a news feed entry end end Everything works as expected. The after_update in the sweeper requires that the do_something_cool method in the model has finished before it can run properly. The problem is that the after_update in the sweeper is being called before (or perhaps at the same time as) the do_something_cool callback and it's causing problems. Does anyone know how to force the after_update in the sweeper to fire after the model callback? Is there better way to achieve this?
