  • NamespaceContext and using namespaces with XPath

    - by Jherico
Resolving an xpath that includes namepsaces in Java appears to require the use of a NamespaceContext object, mapping prefixes to namespace urls and vice versa. But I can find no mechanism for getting a NamespaceContext other than implementing it myself. This seems counter-intuitive. Is there any easy way to acquire a NamespaceContext from a document, or to create one, or failing that, to forgo prefixes altogether and specify the xpath with fully qualified names?

  • How to name variables on the fly in R?

    - by Maiasaura
Is it possible to create new variable names on the fly? I'd like to read data frames from a list into new variables with numbers at the end. Something like orca1, orca2, orca3... If I try something like paste("orca",i,sep="")=list_name[[i]] I get this error target of assignment expands to non-language object Is there another way around this?

  • MVC, can model save/load its data?

    - by fuzzygoat
Quick question, my data model is a singleton object and it contains a list of names I want archive. My idea is to make the model responsible for loading / saving this data. The ModelLoad will then be called by the ViewControllerviewDidLoad and the ModelSave by ViewControllerapplicationWillTerminate. I could do the load / save directly within the ViewController, but this would be messy as the list of names are on instance variable of the model. gary

  • Typecast cross-platform compatibility

    - by kaykun
Hi, what I'm trying to do is append a binary integer into a string object. So far I have this: int number = 5; cppstring.append((char*)&number, 4); It works fine on a x86 system with Windows, but some people are saying its not cross-platform and is unsafe. What is the preferred method to do this?

  • Poor man's "lexer" for C#

    - by Paul Hollingsworth
I'm trying to write a very simple parser in C#. I need a lexer -- something that lets me associate regular expressions with tokens, so it reads in regexs and gives me back symbols. It seems like I ought to be able to use Regex to do the actual heavy lifting, but I can't see an easy way to do it. For one thing, Regex only seems to work on strings, not streams (why is that!?!?). Basically, I want an implementation of the following interface: interface ILexer : IDisposable { /// <summary> /// Return true if there are more tokens to read /// </summary> bool HasMoreTokens { get; } /// <summary> /// The actual contents that matched the token /// </summary> string TokenContents { get; } /// <summary> /// The particular token in "tokenDefinitions" that was matched (e.g. "STRING", "NUMBER", "OPEN PARENS", "CLOSE PARENS" /// </summary> object Token { get; } /// <summary> /// Move to the next token /// </summary> void Next(); } interface ILexerFactory { /// <summary> /// Create a Lexer for converting a stream of characters into tokens /// </summary> /// <param name="reader">TextReader that supplies the underlying stream</param> /// <param name="tokenDefinitions">A dictionary from regular expressions to their "token identifers"</param> /// <returns>The lexer</returns> ILexer CreateLexer(TextReader reader, IDictionary<string, object> tokenDefinitions); } So, pluz send the codz... No, seriously, I am about to start writing an implementation of the above interface yet I find it hard to believe that there isn't some simple way of doing this in .NET (2.0) already. So, any suggestions for a simple way to do the above? (Also, I don't want any "code generators". Performance is not important for this thing and I don't want to introduce any complexity into the build process.)

  • Unit testing MVC.net Redirection

    - by Dan
How do I Unit Test a MVC redirection? public ActionResult Create(Product product) { _productTask.Save(product); return RedirectToAction("Success"); } public ActionResult Success() { return View(); } Is Ayende's approach still the best way to go, with preview 5: public static void RenderView(this Controller self, string action) { typeof(Controller).GetMethod("RenderView").Invoke(self,new object[] { action} ); } Seems odd to have to do this, especially as the MVC team have said they are writing the framework to be testable.

  • jQuery UI Dialog buttons

    - by jAndy
Hi Folks, when creating a dialog with buttons like: buttons: { 'button text': function(){ // do something }, do I have access to the button within the click event handler? $(this) is the context/jQuery object of the whole dialog. I doubt I have to be such creative as $(this).find('button').attr(...) to disabled a button there ?

  • How can the AssemblyName class be used for existing Assembly's?

    - by IbrarMumtaz
This is another exam related question. I want to know how can I use the AssemblyName class to represent an existing assembly that already exists on disk??? I am talking about from the perspective of using the AppDomain's instance method .Load(), that takes an AssemblyName object as a parameter. I know what MSDN has to say about what the .Load() method was designed for but that aside, I still want to know how to use it !!!

  • Transferring binary data through a SOAP webservice? C# / .NET

    - by Jason
I have a webservice that returns the binary array of an object. Is there an easier way to transfer this with SOAP or does it need to be contained in XML? It's working, but I had to increase the send and receive buffer to a large value. How much is too much? Transferring binary in XML as an array seems really inefficient, but I can't see any way to add a binary attachment using .NET.

    - by AntonAL
Hi, i don't understand this little thing: Suppose, we have "Person" model class Person < ActiveRecord::Base end Why Person.all works ? Person.all.each { |p| do_something } This syntax tells us, that we have Person class-object instanciated somewhere ? Or is it some convention over configuration case ?

  • SQLAlchemy: a better way for update with declarative?

    - by hadrien
I am a SQLAlchemy noob. Let's say I have an user table in declarative mode: class User(Base): __tablename__ = 'user' id = Column(u'id', Integer(), primary_key=True) name = Column(u'name', String(50)) When I know user's id without object loaded into session, I update such user like this: ex = update(User.__table__).where(User.id==123).values(name=u"Bob Marley") Session.execute(ex) I dislike using User.__table__, should I stop worrying with that? Is there a better way to do this? Thanx!

  • DataContractSerializer: preserve string member that happens to be raw xml?

    - by bwerks
I'm a little inexperienced with the DataContract paradigm, and I'm running into a deserialization problem. I have a field that's a string, but it contains xml and it's not being deserialized correctly. I have a feeling that it's because the DCS is treating it as input to the serializer and not as an opaque string object. Is there some way to mark a DataMember in code to say "This thing is a string, don't treat its contents as xml" similar to XmlIgnore? Thanks!
