Over Optimistic Daily Productivity

I'm a junior developer and have been working since I graduated last summer so coming up to a year now. I have this issue that is starting to get to me. Every night I think back to what I did that day, feel bad that I didn't get as much done as I would have liked and then tick off in my head all the things I'll get done the following day. Come the end of the following day I end haven't gotten through half of what I wanted to. This over optimism that I'm suffering from. Might it be just because I'm relatively new to the profession and aren't aware of how long things will actually take me. The work might be quick to think through in my head but all sorts of time sync's involved can bleed away the hours. If not that then perhaps it's the technology stack that I'm working on. SharePoint isn't the easiest thing to develop for and it's certainly something I came into not knowing a whole lot about. If it's because I'm not yet skilled enough to predict how long things will take me, is this trait of over optimistic predictions universal to the profession? I'd appreciate any input from those experienced with working with younger developers and those that might have suffered from this themselves. [EDIT] Perhaps I worded the question badly. I'm interested in just general day to day work rather than overall project completion estimation.

Of course I can't call render twice w/o getting a double render error, so is this possible? I want to redirect after a delay using a meta refresh. Best implementation of Java Queue?

I am working (In java) on a recursive image processing algorithm that recursively traverses the pixels of the image, outward from a center point. Unfortunately... That causes stack overflows, so I have decided to switch to a Queue-based algorithm. Now, this is all fine and dandy -- But considering the fact that its queue will be analyzing THOUSANDS of pixels in a very short amount of time, while constantly popping and pushing, WITHOUT maintaining a predictable state (It could be anywhere between length 100, and 20000); The queue implementation needs to have significantly fast popping and pushing abilities. A linked list seems attractive due to its ability to push elements unto its self without rearranging anything else in the list, but in order for it to be fast enough, it would need easy access to both its head, AND its tail (or second-to-last node if it were not doubly-linked). Sadly, though I cannot find any information related to the underlying implementation of linked lists in Java, so it's hard to say if a linked list is really the way to go... This brings me to my question... What would be the best implementation of the Queue interface in Java for what I intend to do? (I do not wish to edit or even access anything other than the head and tail of the queue -- I do not wish to do any sort of rearranging, or anything. On the flip side, I DO intend to do a lot of pushing and popping, and the queue will be changing size quite a bit, so preallocating would be inefficient)

Doubly Linked Lists Implementation

Hi All, I have looked at most threads here about Doubly linked lists but still unclear about the following. I am practicing the Goodrich and Tamassia book in Java. About doubly linked lists, please correct me if I am wrong, it is different from a singly linked list in that a node could be inserted anywhere, not just after the head or after the tail using both the next and prev nodes available, while in singly linked lists, this insertion anywhere in the list is not possible ? If one wants to insert a node in a doubly linked list, then the default argument should be either the node after the to-be inserted node or node before the to-be inserted node ? But if this is so, then I don't understand how to pass the node before or after. Should we be displaying all nodes that were inserted till now and ask the user to select the node before or after which some new node is to be inserted ? My doubt is how to pass this default node. Because I assume that will require the next and prev nodes of these nodes as well. For e.g, Head<-A<-B<-C<-D<-E<-tail If Z is the new node to be inserted after say D, then how should node D be passed ? I am confused with this though it seems pretty simple to most. tbody td borders not scrolling with content in tbody overflow:auto;

I am unable to get the borders of these td's to follow their rows as I scroll through this overflow:auto; . Any ideas on a fix? Note: Setting table-layout:fixed or making rows display:block isn't an option as the rows will lose their fluidity.. You can see the issue in the latest Firefox, so I assume it's messed up elsewhere. Following up my previous question, I'm slowly getting the hang of FParsec (though I do find it particularly hard to grok). My next newbie F# question is, how do I extract data from the list the parser creates? For example, I loaded the sample code from the previous question into a module called Parser.fs, and added a very simple unit test in a separate module (with the appropriate references). Load javascript in app engine

I got so confused loading javascript in app engine. I am using django template. In my base html file. First I can't load my downloaded jquery from local say d:/jquery.js like <script src="d:\jquery.js" type="text/javascript" ></script></head>, This line is in my base html file. It works when I load jquery from remote. Like <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.1/jquery.min.js"type="text/javascript" ></script></head> I dont know why. Second, I can't load my own-created javascript to my html file, say I create a javascript like layout. Js and I try to load it like this in my child html file, which, by the way, inherits from the base html. <body><script src="layout.js" type="text/javascript"></script></body>, And it doesn't work at all, the only way it works I have tried is that I put the actual javascript in the body of my base html file. Query about running a program through valgrind and getting false results comparing to other systems.

Yesterday i posted this: What's the problem with this code? [hashtable in C] and paxdiablo offered to help me. He posted a sample of code and asked me to run it through valgrind on my machine. This code normally generates: 12,4 But on my machine, i get 24,8. The doubled! I'm just curious why is that happening. Hope sb has a good explaination.
