  • Windows XP update not working

    I have a problem with XP updating. It hangs when I try to search for updates on the website. But the automatic updates still work. And it's running IE6, so I'm trying to update to IE8, hoping that will fix the problems with the website. But when installing IE8 it just hangs at Installing Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP And if I try to install it manually, it hangs when installing the updates for IE8. So looking at these logs, is there anything going wrong with the update process?   • Add Bookmarks and Notes to Delicious in IE 8

    Are you constantly adding bookmarks to your Delicious account while browsing but want to keep UI use to a minimum? Add bookmarks directly to your account from the context menu using the Share with Delicious accelerator. Share with Delicious in Action To add the accelerator click on Add to Internet Explorer and confirm the installation when the secondary window appears. This is going to be much better than having the Favorites Bar or a new toolbar taking up precious UI room. When you find a webpage that you would like to bookmark right click within the page, go to All Accelerators and select Share with Delicious. The form for the new bookmark will open in a new tab with the URL and title filled in. All that you need to do is add any desired notes/tags and save the bookmark. Suppose that you want notes from the page added to the bookmark. Highlight the desired text, right click on it, then go to All Accelerators and select Share with Delicious. As before the form will open in a new tab…you can see the highlighted text was entered into the notes section for the new bookmark. All that is left to do is add an appropriate tag and save. Once you save your new bookmark the tab will auto navigate to the webpage that you just saved. Returning to our account showed the new bookmark ready for future use along with a the notes for later reference. Conclusion If you add bookmarks to your Delicious account but want to save UI room, then the Share with Delicious accelerator will make a nice addition to Internet Explorer.   • Downloads killing internet on my home network

    I am currently having a problem with my wireless. Whenever I try to download anything it kills the internet for every other application(tabs within the same browser, browsers on other computers on the same network) except the process doing the download. This occurs with everything from downloading updates to iso's. I am not using a torrent. It happens when downloading upgrades, browser downloads, or anything else. This problem does not occur when I use Windows 7 on the same computer and it stops killing the internet for other computers if I turn the download/Ubuntu off. I am using an ASUS G74SX laptop running Ubuntu 12.10 with Gnome 3.6. My wireless card is an Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150 (rev 67) Thanks!

    I have no internet on Ubuntu 12.04.1 so i'm on a desktop so I got to install a .exe program to run my wireless card for my desktop so I got internet access, But I can't seem to download wine or its source files. If I do I put on my usb and boot into Ubuntu but then when I try to open it I get the programs source files etc. Anyone who could help me Please do :| ( I can't install wine from software center since I have no connection online). Note : I can download my stuff on windows 8 boot so I can transfer files to my usb to run on Ubuntu.

    I downloaded MySQL's installation package and ran the following command after installing a fresh Ubuntu server. dpkg -i mysql-5.5.28-debian6.0-x86_64.deb It installed fine and then I tried starting up the server manually /opt/mysql/server-5.5/bin/mysqld And the following error came up /opt/mysql/server-5.5/bin/mysqld: error while loading shared libraries: libaio.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory How can I install that library in an offline way ? I have no means whatsoever to an internet connection from that server and I can't even relocate it to have internet connection temporarily ! Thank you.

    Ok I have an Acer Aspire One D255E netbook. Ubuntu 10.04 & 10.10 hangs on install from USB for both, so could not install them. However Ubuntu 9.10 worked and installed. Then I figured I would just connect to the internet and update. However, the internet does not work (doesnt show up in notification), but it worked when 10.04 & 10.10 where used as a live usb. Now is there a way to update just using 10.04-desktop iso from a USB or just somewhere in 9.10 say documents folder? Thank you for any help

    I'm using an Asus G50V and I'm completely new to ubuntu. I just installed it and can connect to the internet with a wired connection and through wireless from my windows vista that I installed wubi on, and I can connect to my wireless network, but I can't actually connect to the internet through my wireless network. Thanks in advance. Network controller is an Intel Corporation WiFi Link 5100 according to lspci if that helps Also, the connection somehow started working after I decided to unplug my ethernet cable for the third time and headed upstairs after giving up for the day.. not sure how it happened, but after restarting, the connection stopped working again.. Wifi works on 11.10, but stops working when I upgrade back to 12.04..

    Possible Duplicate: How can I install and download drivers without internet? (This is related to my other question; my approach there didn't work.) My friend has (I'm quite sure) a Broadcom wireless chipset. However, he doesn't have any wired internet access on the machine, so his only option is to boot into Windows (he is using Wubi) and download packages there. This means we can't use the Hardware Drivers dialog to install the drivers. He can't fetch the repository information, so the Broadcom driver packages aren't showing up in Synaptic. When i switch on my internet modem and try to use(browse any website), for the first time in a day it will redirect me to Hathway's login(something like "login.hatyway.com/.....") page automatically. It is working fine in windows but not in Ubuntu 11.10. So I go back to windows every time and then login and then i come back to ubuntu to use.     Today the update-manaeger suggested that I should download some updates. So I did. After the updates were installed I had to reboot the system. After the reboot my notebook doesn't see any wireless networks. I was looking for a long time on the internet for answers but non of them applies to my case. I have the idea, it has got something to do with the kernel I am currently using (Linux 3.2.0-55). Is this one new for Ubuntu 12.04? When I boot my system I can choose to use an older kernel (linux 3.2.0-32). When I use this one the notebook does see the wireless networks. This is my network card according to the command lspci: Ralink corp. RT3290 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R PCIe Anyone an idea to fix my problems with wireless internet?
