• Python 2.6 - I can not write dwords greater than 0x7fffffff into registry using _winreg.SetValueEx()

  using regedit.exe I have manually created a key in registry called HKEY_CURRENT_USER/00_Just_a_Test_Key and created two dword values dword_test_1 and dword_test_2 I am trying to write some values into those two keys using following program import _winreg aReg = _winreg.ConnectRegistry(None,_winreg.HKEY_CURRENT_USER) aKey = _winreg.OpenKey(aReg, r"00_Just_a_Test_Key", 0, _winreg.KEY_WRITE) _winreg.SetValueEx(aKey,"dword_test_1",0, _winreg.REG_DWORD, 0x0edcba98) _winreg.SetValueEx(aKey,"dword_test_2",0, _winreg.REG_DWORD, 0xfedcba98) _winreg.CloseKey(aKey) _winreg.CloseKey(aReg) I can write into the first key, dword_test_1, but when I attempt to write into the second, I get following message Traceback (most recent call last): File "D:/src/registry/question.py", line 7, in <module> _winreg.SetValueEx(aKey,"dword_test_2",0, _winreg.REG_DWORD, 0xfedcba98) ValueError: Could not convert the data to the specified type. How do I write the second value 0xfedcba98, or any value greater than 0x7fffffff as a dword value?   Hi all, I am using Sql server 2005 express edition and i want to Install and configure Reporting server on my local machine.Now i have installed the reporting server but the issue is that i am unable to configure it properly.when ever i go to start the reporting services it gives me the following message: THE SQL SERVER REPORTING SERVICE(SQLEXPRESS)service on Local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the performance Logs and Alerts service.   I'm writing a Generic class as following. public class Foo<T> : where T : Bar, new() { public void MethodInFoo() { T _t = new T(); } } As you can see the object(_t) of type T is instantiated at run-time. To support instantiation of generic type T, language forces me to put new() in the class signature. I'd agree to this if Bar is an abstract class but why does it need to be so if Bar standard non-abstract class with public parameter-less constructor. compiler prompts following message if new() is not found. Cannot create an instance of the variable type 'T' because it does not have the new() constraint

• Need help with a sub query/group/order (get latest comment for each ordered topic)

  Hey guys I have a query that currently finds the latest comment for each of a user's topics and then orders topics by that comment's timestamp. What I want to do is expand on this query's use and print the latest comment for each topic. The problem with this query is that while it orders the topics correctly, it prints seemingly random comments for each topic. I am trying to implement a sub query but I am not quite sure how to approach it. I was thinking that I just had to somehow use this query to get the comments. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it.   I am about to embark on my first outlook 2007 plugin. I would like to create a new tool bar that will have a button that will initially be disabled. When the user selects a message the button should be enabled... but only if the email is of a certain type of email... This is where I need your expert advice, is there a way to quickly flag an email in outlook, so that in the email select event you can look for a property of that email... for example... on_select if mail.type = "FromISP" then I would prefer not to use the from field.... the other thing is during the send process I need to set the flag, I am doing this again using .net so I have full control over how the mail is created. Any ideas would help... Thanks

• c# project cannot find c++ .dll?

  I have a working c++ dll that works in one c# project that I am calling via the interop service. I have created another c# project and am trying to call the same .dll but keep getting a generic error message stating that the .dll cannot be found, both project are .net 2.0. What folder, and where do I specify in the project, should I put the .dll file in so that the project can find it? Think of it as a reminder for me... In the previous project I did not have a reference to it, I just had it in the /bin folder and doing the same thing for this project does not work. Thanks R.

• Java concurrency - Should block or yield?

  Hi, I have multiple threads each one with its own private concurrent queue and all they do is run an infinite loop retrieving messages from it. It could happen that one of the queues doesn't receive messages for a period of time (maybe a couple seconds), and also they could come in big bursts and fast processing is necessary. I would like to know what would be the most appropriate to do in the first case: use a blocking queue and block the thread until I have more input or do a Thread.yield()? I want to have as much CPU resources available as possible at a given time, as the number of concurrent threads may increase with time, but also I don't want the message processing to fall behind, as there is no guarantee of when the thread will be reescheduled for execution when doing a yield(). I know that hardware, operating system and other factors play an important role here, but setting that aside and looking at it from a Java (JVM?) point of view, what would be the most optimal?

  Can you tell me how can I handle this kind of exceptions: Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Doctrine_Connection_Exception' with message 'PDO Connection Error: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2013] Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 110' in ... It happens when connection with MySQL is lost during query. I need to handle this exception so I can show 500 error page so the crawlers do not cache page, and to redirect user to appropriate "Try again" page. P.S. I have a lot's of code, so I can not go trough all code to put try/catch block. I need something simple and yet effective.

  I am using djcelery 2.1.4 with ghettoq 0.4.5 and django 1.2.3 and I am able to run tasks all day long, but when I try to use any broadcast functionality it fails without errors. Take the simplest case -- I run celeryd: python manage.py celeryd The daemon starts and I try to run a ping: >>> from celery.task.control import ping >>> ping() [] I can see the message that ping created appear in the database, but apparently none of the nodes are picking it up? Am I doing something wrong here? Does broadcast not work with carrot?

• VS2010 (older) installer project - two or more objects have the same target location.

  This installer project was created back in 2004 and upgraded ever since. There are two offending dll files, which produce a total of 4 errors. I have searched online for this warning message and did not find a permanent fix (I did manage to make it go away once until I have done something like a clean, or built in Release, and then in Debug). I also tried cleaning, and then refreshing the dependencies. The duplicated entries are still in there. I also did not find a good explanation for what this error means. Additional warnings are of this nature: Warning 36 The version of the .NET Framework launch condition '.NET Framework 4' does not match the selected .NET Framework bootstrapper package. Update the .NET Framework launch condition to match the version of the .NET Framework selected in the Prerequisites Dialog Box. So, where is this prerequisites box? I want to make both things agree on .Net 4.0, just having a hard time locating both of them.

  I am trying to implement a callback timer function in C++ which should do a callback after a timeout. I am listening on a socket and then waiting for messages on it. so if I have something like getMessages() and I want to pass the timer function in it as an argument. So how can it be implemented that after the receive of a message, the timer is started and the callback happens if there is a timeout before the next messages arrives. I am new to callback functions. Something like: http://www.othersite.com/submitfunnyname?name=blah The other site (othersite.com) has a REST interface that you can call (well actually this is a get example) to submit a funny name to them. Can I do this already with javascript? I'm a little confused on this - I know if that service wants to return some data, I'd need to use something like JSON-P - even though here I'm submitting some data, I guess the service will return some message structure letting me know the result, so it would have to be JSON-P, right?   I got this thing i'm trying to solve: I got a ListView created using Wicket ( 1.5 ) with a lot of elements and a scroll. When new items are available, the user is asked if he would like to refresh the list via a message backed by an AjaxLink: public void onClick(AjaxRequestTarget ajaxTarget) { /* do something ... */ ajaxTarget.addComponent(_list); } So on click the list gets reloaded and the scroll position is reset to zero. Is there any way i can call JavaScript before the list reloads the save the scroll position? (I know how to get/save the scroll position ( .scrollTop() ) , i just don't know how to call a function right before AJAX ).

• Linux rpm installs but cannot erase. Why?

  My Perl code installed several (4) rpm files as root. the next install removes them (rpm -e) before installing a newer version. One does not remove, with rpm -e giving the error that it is not installed. However, later when the updated file is installed, the message is given that it is already installed. Manual attempts to remove give the same results. My questions are how to force removal something from the rpm database, and why does this contradication exist (not installed from rpm -e and already installed from rpm -Uvh and rpm -ivh)?
