• Does Lua support Unicode?

  Based on the link below, I'm confused as to whether the Lua programming language supports Unicode. http://lua-users.org/wiki/LuaUnicode It appears it does but has limitations. I simply don't understand, are the limitation anything big/key or not a big deal?

To draw a custom background in neighbor cells (based on NSTextFieldCell) I use isHighlighted method: - (void)drawWithFrame:(NSRect)cellFrame inView:(NSView *)controlView { if ([self isHighlighted]) { //here I draw the cell background But for NSButtonCell isHighlighted shows only the button pressed state. How to determine when the NSButtonCell is selected, i.e. when it's highlighted in the row?

  I want to execute select statement within CTE based on a codition. something like below ;with CTE_AorB ( if(condition) select * from table_A else select * from table_B ), CTE_C as ( select * from CTE_AorB // processing is removed ) But i get error on this. Is it possible to have if else within CTEs? If not is there a work around Or a better approach. Thanks.

I've never seen it used like that before.

  For a 2D game I am working on, I am using y axis sorting in a simple rectangle-based collision detection. This is working fine, and now I want to find the nearest empty rectangle at a given location with a given size, efficiently. How can I do this? Is there an algorithm? I could think of a simple brute force grid test (with each grid the size of the empty space we're looking for) but obviously this is slow and not even a complete test.
