  • Derived template override return type of member function C++

    - by Ruud v A
I am writing matrix classes. Take a look at this definition: template <typename T, unsigned int dimension_x, unsigned int dimension_y> class generic_matrix { ... generic_matrix<T, dimension_x - 1, dimension_y - 1> minor(unsigned int x, unsigned int y) const { ... } ... } template <typename T, unsigned int dimension> class generic_square_matrix : public generic_matrix<T, dimension, dimension> { ... generic_square_matrix(const generic_matrix<T, dimension, dimension>& other) { ... } ... void foo(); } The generic_square_matrix class provides additional functions like matrix multiplication. Doing this is no problem: generic_square_matrix<T, 4> m = generic_matrix<T, 4, 4>(); It is possible to assign any square matrix to M, even though the type is not generic_square_matrix, due to the constructor. This is possible because the data does not change across children, only the supported functions. This is also possible: generic_square_matrix<T, 4> m = generic_square_matrix<T, 5>().minor(1,1); Same conversion applies here. But now comes the problem: generic_square_matrix<T, 4>().minor(1,1).foo(); //problem, foo is not in generic_matrix<T, 3, 3> To solve this I would like generic_square_matrix::minor to return a generic_square_matrix instead of a generic_matrix. The only possible way to do this, I think is to use template specialisation. But since a specialisation is basically treated like a separate class, I have to redefine all functions. I cannot call the function of the non-specialised class as you would do with a derived class, so I have to copy the entire function. This is not a very nice generic-programming solution, and a lot of work. C++ almost has a solution for my problem: a virtual function of a derived class, can return a pointer or reference to a different class than the base class returns, if this class is derived from the class that the base class returns. generic_square_matrix is derived from generic_matrix, but the function does not return a pointer nor reference, so this doesn't apply here. Is there a solution to this problem (possibly involving an entirely other structure; my only requirements are that the dimensions are a template parameter and that square matrices can have additional functionality). Thanks in advance, Ruud

  • Both sql LAST_INSERT_ID() and PHP insert_id return 0

    - by jakubplus
I've been searching google a lot for this issue and really found nothing. People just keep copying MySQL documentation on last_insert_id and nothing else. I've got an issue regarding last_insert_id, because for both situations (php & sql) it returns 0. YES: I've set a PRIMARY & UNIQUE field with AUTO_INCREMENT value YES: i've done some inserting before NO: Making double query with INSERT AND SELECT LAST... doesn't work. I've created a class Db for maintaining connection & query: class Db { public function connect() { $db = new mysqli('','','','',''); ... return $db; } public function insert() { $this->connect()->query("INSERT INTO bla bla..."); return $this->connect()->insert_id; } } And it doesn't work.

  • Use from value from backing bean in javascript

    - by AlfonsSocken
What I want is to use a boolean value from applicationContext.xml (Jboss configuration file) in my javascript. Currently I use Spring to inject a value configured in applicationContext.xml into my backingbean. Then I put an output text in my jsp like this <h:outputText id="idValue" styleClass="foo" value="" rendered="#{bean.isRendered}"/> In my JavaScript I try following jQuery(function(){ bRedirect = jQuery("#foo").value != undefined; ... All this looks so terrible to me, even though it works fine. There must be a smarter way than doing what I do. Note that I am running JSF1.2 and therefore must use jQuery instead of $ and also select by unique class (foo) and not by id, which may be bad practice as well. Thank you in advance. alfons

  • jQuery: if value is true without user action

    - by Kevin Brown
I want to show a div if the value of an input =='CP'. Right now this is my code: $(".register-type").change(function(){ var value = $(this).val(); if(value == 'CP'){ $('.cp-show').show(); This works fine if they change the input, but if things get validated false and the page reloads, this input is still 'CP', but the div doesn't show... Is there a way to correct this so that jquery checks if this is set on the page load?

  • return statement from within using

    - by Bob
using (IDbCommand command = new SqlCommand()) { IDbDataAdapter adapter = new SqlDataAdapter(); DataSet ds = new DataSet(); adapter.SelectCommand = command; command.Connection = _dataAccess.Connection; command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; command.CommandText = "GetProcData"; command.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@ProcID ", procId)); adapter.Fill(ds); return ds.Tables[0].AsEnumerable(); } This returns an IEnumerable DataRow The question is that since the return is within the using statement, will it property dispose of the IDBCommand? I know I can easily refactor this so I change the scope of the DataSet outside of the using, but it is more of a wonder than anything else.

  • What's the best way to return different cells depending on position in a UITableView

    - by Robert Conn
I have a grouped UITableView that has 3 sections and a number of cells in each section that each need to be a different custom cell, with different display requirements. I currently have a large if statement in cellForRowAtIndexPath, with each branch instantiating and returning the appropriate custom cell based on interrogating the indexPath's section and row properties. e.g. if (indexPath.section == 0 && indexPath.row == 0) { // instantiate and return cell A } else if (indexPath.section == 1 && indexPath.row == 2) { // instantiate and return cell B } //etc etc What is best practice for this scenario? A large if statement does the job, but is it the best implementation?

  • T-SQL stored procedure to return google style "suggested" search results

    - by stephen776
Ok, using SQL Server 2008. On my web page I have a textbox with jQuery-UI AutoComplete hooked up. Now I need a stored procedure to search across all columns of a single table(or multiple joined tables I suppose) for a search string coming from the textbox/autocomplete AJAX call, and return "suggested" search strings. I am using the AdventureWorks db for testing(Products table) So for example, the product table has columns for product name and product number(among others) and I want to return suggested search strings based on user input where they may enter a product name and/or a product number. I have it working across a single column which was simple. Any ideas?

  • Return multiple results using dynamic sql (postgresql 8.2)

    - by precose
I want to loop through schemas and get a result set that looks like this: Count 5 834 345 34 984 However, I can't get it to return anything using dynamic sql...I've tried everything but 8.2 is being a real pain. Here is my function: CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION dwh.adam_test4() RETURNS void LANGUAGE plpgsql AS $function$ DECLARE myschema text; rec RECORD; BEGIN FOR myschema IN select distinct c.table_schema, d.p_id from information_schema.tables t inner join information_schema.columns c on (t.table_schema = t.table_schema and t.table_name = c.table_name) join dwh.sgmt_clients d on c.table_schema = lower(d.userid) where c.table_name = 'fact_members' and c.column_name = 'debit_card' and t.table_schema NOT LIKE 'pg_%' and t.table_schema NOT IN ('information_schema', 'ad_delivery', 'dwh', 'users', 'wand', 'ttd') order by table_schema LOOP EXECUTE 'select count(ucic) from '|| myschema || '.' ||'fact_members where debit_card = ''yes''' into rec; RETURN rec; END LOOP; END $function$

  • How to return a 'read-only' copy of a vector

    - by michael
Hi, I have a class which has a private attribute vector rectVec; class A { private: vector<Rect> rectVec; }; My question is how can I return a 'read-only' copy of my Vector? I am thinking of doing this: class A { public: const vect<Rect>& getRectVec() { return rectVect; } } Is that the right way? I am thinking this can guard against the callee modify the vector(add/delete Rect in vector), what about the Rect inside the vector?

  • Visual Studio keeps inserting absurd default property value in designer file

    - by Bugz R us
i have a simple usercontrol with following properties: public partial class RichTextEditorControl : UserControl { public string EditorText { get { return richTextBox1.Rtf; } set { richTextBox1.Rtf = value; } } public string EditorPlainText { get { return richTextBox1.Text; } set { richTextBox1.Text = value; } } } Now whenever I EDIT a form which contains this control, VS fills its designer file with the following code line, and then throws a designer error : this.richTextEditorControl1.EditorPlainText = global::Project.Resources.MyResources_de_DE.SomeString; Now I don't know where it gets this value from ??? I've searched entire solution, and nowhere there's mention of this var, except for 1 file, where it's needed ... Moreover, the code VS writes, has an error in it ?! It doesn't compile ... The only thing I can do is edit the designer file, but the next time I have to edit the form with the designer, the same error happens again ... Where on earth is VS getting this value from ??

  • Overloading on return type ???

    - by Green Hyena
    scala> val shares = Map("Apple" -> 23, "MicroSoft" -> 50, "IBM" -> 17) shares: scala.collection.immutable.Map[java.lang.String,Int] = Map(Apple -> 23, MicroSoft -> 50, IBM -> 17) scala> val shareholders = shares map {_._1} shareholders: scala.collection.immutable.Iterable[java.lang.String] = List(Apple, MicroSoft, IBM) scala> val newShares = shares map {case(k, v) => (k, 1.5 * v)} newShares: scala.collection.immutable.Map[java.lang.String,Double] = Map(Apple -> 34.5, MicroSoft -> 75.0, IBM -> 25.5) From this example it seems like the map method is overloaded on return type. Overloading on return type is not possible right? Would somebody please explain what's going on here?

  • Return no records if FIndKey results in False?

    - by jwilfong
Using TDataSet.FindKey you can locate records. When it results in True the datasets cursor will be positioned on the found record. When it results in False the cursor is not moved. This results in the record data prior to FindKey being issued being displayed in data aware components. How can I code the result of FindKey to return an empty record? if Not tblSomeTable.FindKey([SomeSearchData]) then begin < code to return empty or move data cursor to neutral position > end; Thanks, John

  • controling a float value with javascript

    - by kawtousse
Hi, to control my input type and verify that its value is pretty a float in my form i deal with it in javascript like that: function verifierNombre () { var champ=document.getElementById("nperformed"); var str = champ.value; if(str.value==' '){champ.focus();} if (isNaN(str)) { alert("Invalid Valid! the field must be a number"); champ.focus(); return false; } return true; } but it still false because it doesn't accept really floats. so when entering a value like '11,2' the alert is declenched. I want to know how can I control float values with javascript. thanks.

  • Using AJAX to return SelectList selected value

    - by Adventure
At risk of asking the obvious... I need to use AJax.ActionLink to send the current value of a SelectList back to my controller. How do I do that? Below is part of my current View. • C# mysql one return last_insert_id

    - by Bernhard
I am trying to create a method in which I can exequte mysql UPDATE, DELETE or INSERT query. The method must work when with an INSERT I ask or do not ask the last_insert_id(). Below is the code that I have at the moment: public int executeUID(MySqlCommand msCommand) { try { this.Open(); msCommand.Connection = this.msCon; return int.Parse(msCommand.ExecuteScalar().ToString()); } catch (MySqlException ex) { throw ex; } finally { this.Close(); } } The problem with this is is that when I use an insert query that returns a last_insert_id() the method works greatly. But when the query doesn't return an last_insert_id() the method malfunctions. How can I get this method to work?

  • Name Value Pairs in a ComboBox

    - by JamesB
I'm convinced this must be a common problem, but I can't seem to find a simple solution... I want to use a combobox control with name value pairs as the items. ComboBox takes TStrings as its items so that should be fine. Unfortunately the drawing method on a combobox draws Items[i] so you get Name=Value in the box. I'd like the value to be hidden, so I can work with the value in code, but the user sees the name. Any Ideas?
