  • Alternative to Firebug for Firefox?

    - by Geuis
The latest versions of Firebug in Firefox feel like they've been regressing. Performance is abysmal. This is a common complaint amongs everyone on my team, and increasingly among many other web developers online. Are there any alternative extensions for Firefox that gives similar functionality(DOM inspector, Net tab, console)?

  • Add a Binding Extension via Code

    - by FlySwat
I'm trying to figure out a way to add a binding extension to an endpoint via code, instead of through configuration files. Ideally I want it to simply be an attribute I place on the service method. So far it seems like the only thing that isn't exposed publicly is the binding extensions.

  • Standalone jQuery or MooTools version of YooTools YOOcarousel

    - by R33BOOT
I was wondering if anyone knows of a jQuery or MooTools script that will do the exact same thing as YOOcarousel (http://tools.yootheme.com/extensions/yoocarousel). I'm looking to emulate the 'List Styling' setup they have where on the left you have the tabbed navigation and on the right it fades in/out thru each of the tabbed items as they are clicked. Thanks, Ryan

  • Running Rails as an embedded app inside of a gem

    - by randombits
I'm trying to understand what exactly the above (in my question's Title) means? This is taken directly from the SpreeCommerce.com project: If you’re an experienced Rails developer you may be wondering where your app directory is. Spree actually runs as an embedded Rails app inside of your gem. How do you customize things then? We’ll cover that later in extensions. Source: http://spreecommerce.com/documentation/getting_started.html Can someone further explain what exactly it means when a Rails app is run "inside of your gem"

  • Eclipse RCP Preferences Dialog Tree Size

    - by nerduban
In my RCP application, I'm trying to use the Eclipse preferences dialog. I'm adding extensions to the "org.eclipse.ui.preferencePages" and preparing related IWorkbenchPreferencePage implementations. My preference page names are a bit long, so that they are not totally visible on the left side tree of the preferences dialog. Dragging the sash bar to the right increases the width of this tree, but it is resetted after the program is closed and reopened. Is it possible to increase the default width of this tree?

  • Backbone.js (model instanceof Model) via Chrome Extension

    - by Leoncelot
Hey guys, This is my first time ever posting on this site and the problem I'm about to pose is difficult to articulate due to the set of variables required to arrive at it. Let me just quickly explain the framework I'm working with. I'm building a Chrome Extension using jQuery, jQuery-ui, and Backbone The entire JS suite for the extension is written in CoffeeScript and I'm utilizing Rails and the asset pipeline to manage it all. This means that when I want to deploy my extension code I run rake assets:precompile and copy the resulting compressed JS to my extensions Directory. The nice thing about this approach is that I can actually run the extension js from inside my Rails app by including the library. This is basically the same as my extensions background.js file which injects the js as a content script. Anyway, the problem I've recently encountered was when I tried testing my extension on my buddy's site, whiskeynotes.com. What I was noticing is that my backbone models were being mangled upon adding them to their respective collections. So something like this.collection.add(new SomeModel) created some nonsense version of my model. This code eventually runs into Backbone's prepareModel code _prepareModel: function(model, options) { options || (options = {}); if (!(model instanceof Model)) { var attrs = model; options.collection = this; model = new this.model(attrs, options); if (!model._validate(model.attributes, options)) model = false; } else if (!model.collection) { model.collection = this; } return model; }, Now, in most of the sites on which I've tested the extension, the result is normal, however on my buddy's site the !(model instance Model) evaluates to true even though it is actually an instance of the correct class. The consequence is a super messed up version of the model where the model's attributes is a reference to the models collection (strange right?). Needless to say, all kinds of crazy things were happening afterward. Why this is occurring is beyond me. However changing this line (!(model instanceof Model)) to (!(model instanceof Backbone.Model)) seems to fix the problem. I thought maybe it had something to do with the Flot library (jQuery graph library) creating their own version of 'Model' but looking through the source yielded no instances of it. I'm just curious as to why this would happen. And does it make sense to add this little change to the Backbone source? Update: I just realized that the "fix" doesn't actually work. I can also add that my backbone Models are namespaced in a wrapping object so that declaration looks something like class SomeNamespace.SomeModel extends Backbone.Model

  • Zend Framework Routing: .html extension

    - by smack0007
I know I've seen this done before but I can't find the information anywhere. I need to be able to route with .html extensions in the Zend Framework. I.E. /controller/action.html should route to the appropriate controller / action. We have an idea to throw away the .html extension with our .htaccess file but I think changing the route config would be the better solution. Any advice is welcome.

  • Gradient colors in Internet Explorer

I know that Internet Explorer has some proprietary extensions so that you can do things like create divs with a gradient background. I can't remember the element name or it's usage. Does anyone have some examples or links?

  • Where do you extend classes in your rails application?

    - by ro
Just about to extend the Array class with the following extension: class Array def shuffle! size.downto(1) { |n| push delete_at(rand(n)) } self end end However, I was wondering where a good place to keep these sort of extensions. I was thinking environment.rb or putting in its own file in the initializers directory.

  • Why is native libmpg123 taking so long on android with libgdx?

    - by cmbryan
I'm trying to use the gdx-audio extensions, but am having trouble decoding mp3s. It works, but very slowly!! A 10-second file is taking 6.57 seconds to decode :( Here is the method: public void decode() { Mpg123Decoder decoder = new Mpg123Decoder(externalFile); short[] sampleArray = new short[1024]; // read until we reach the end of the file while (decoder.readSamples(sampleArray, 0, sampleArray.length) > 0) {} } Can anyone tell me why this is taking so long?

  • Installing PHP DOM functions on Apache

    - by user352556
I have just moved my code over to a new server (running on Apache 2.2.3), and PHP's DOM functions are now returning "Fatal error: Class 'DOMDocument' not found". I did some research and it appears that the installation I am now on does not have PHP's DOM functions enabled. I need to enable these functions, so what is the quickest way to go about this? Is it doable from a configuration file or will it require installation of extensions? Thanks!

  • How can I get Hpricot to play nice with HTML5?

    - by Adam Singer
I am using Hpricot to parse a theme file. I have noticed, however, that if I feed a valid HTML5 document into Hpricot(), it auto-closes HTML5 tags (like <section>), and messes with the DOCTYPE. Are there any extensions to Hpricot, or perhaps a flag I need to set, that will allow HTML5 documents to be parsed correctly?

    - by iCe
Hi there, Recently I installed in Visual Studio 2010 the Power Tools Extension It's working great, however I have problems with my text coloring theme (Nightfall), and the extension's Colorized Parameter feature. Since the theme text fore color is grey, when the Power Tools Extensions shows the Parameter Help tooltip using my text colors, it gets unreadable: Is there a way to change Parameter Help background color?

  • Python's cPickle deserialization from PHP?

    - by Ciantic
Hi! I have to deserialize a dictionary in PHP that was serialized using cPickle in Python. In this specific case I probably could just regexp the wanted information, but is there a better way? Any extensions for PHP that would allow me to deserialize more natively the whole dictionary? Apparently it is serialized in Python like this: import cPickle as pickle data = { 'user_id' : 5 } pickled = pickle.dumps(data) print pickled Contents of such serialization cannot be pasted easily to here, because it contains binary data.

  • Should I be concerned with infected zip files?

    - by Peter Smith
I'm writing a ASP.NET application to process user submitted zip files and limiting my extraction of files from it to only the extensions I want. I've heard of infected zip files attached to emails and I was wondering if I should be concerned about extracting data from infected zip files in my application. I don't plan on executing the content inside of the zip file, but will opening and extracting from an infected zip file cause the file to execute a virus even if I'm not executing any content inside of the zip file?

  • How to get Page Source using jQuery?

    - by Flipper
Ok so I have a website and I would like to stop users from being able to change things on it using GreaseMonkey extensions, etc. Therefore I am trying to use jQuery or any kind of Javascript to get the source of the page after like 5 seconds. I know how to make it wait 5 seconds using Javascript and all, but how do I get the entire source of the page and send it to my server using POST? How can this be done?
