    I have the following directory structure books/java books/java.ebooks books/java.gwt books/java.swing books/javaee I use this command to create an archive of all the directories starting with the letters a-m tar czf books.a-m.no.AI.tgz --exclude=books/AI.and.algorithms --exclude=books/[N-Z]* --exclude=books/[n-z]* books The .tgz archive that gets created does not contain the java.swing/ directory. Am I missing something in my use of tar or is this a bug in cygwin?

    I'm trying to do proof of concept with Mongodb(sharding) and Id like to run a command every time I spin up a new cluster without having to add lines in all my sls files. My current init is as follows: mongo Replica4:27000 /usr/lib/mongo/init_addshard.js: cmd: - run - user: present The word Replica4 is not templated id like to know a way I would be able to do so, that way when I spin up a new cluster I wouldn't have to touch anything in this file.

    As it is told in git-config manual, I have three files to specify git repo configuration: $GIT_DIR/config, ~/.gitconfig and $(prefix)/etc/gitconfig. Is it possible to make git read another config file (for example .gitconfig in root of the repo) after reading $GIT_DIR/config? I want it as I created git command aliases in .git/config and I would prefer to store them in repo, so I can restore them when cloning and for example.

  • Outlook 2003: How to display my own messages in conversation view?

    When I select View-Arrange By-Conversation in Outlook 2003, the messages I sent myself are not shown in the message threads (unlike the conversation view in say, Gmail). To show my own messages I have to go to the Sent Items folder, if not someone has replied to one of my messages and included my original text. Is there a way to make my own messages visible in the conversation threads? Thank you! /Filip

    All emails I send from my new server go to spam in Gmail (and sometimes yahoo). I've never before sent out mass email or spam.   • Standalone tool to synchronize two folders in windows?

    I keep data on a USB drive, but I also keep a copy of all of that data on a hard disk. I like using the hard disk because it's faster and gives me a backup. What standalone tools would work to keep the files on the disk and USB drive in sync? I'd like a single command line executable or standalone GUI app that can do the job--something I could run off of the USB drive. So, things like the MS Sync Tool wouldn't work.

I hear databases like mySQL or SQLite would be good ways to do this sort of thing, but I don't really know where to start. I'm comfortable with the linux command-line, and have done some HTML/CSS work in the past, so I feel unintimidated by databases and things...I just don't know what to start doing.

There's no firewall blocking on the pc I am trying to connect from.     I am trying to start xampp when the ubuntu starts on ubuntu 9.10. I tried going to system-preferences-startup applications adding it there, but it didn't work. I surmised it was because it needs to be started as root. I know you can make a startup script some how, but I'm not sure how to do it. I am looking for a very basic reference guide – like O'Reilly makes, for example. But in there I didn't find an entry for basic commands like ls or ln and a layman's explanation of all the flags and options. Could anybody recommend me something?
