• Having trouble with confusing behaviour of error between debug and release modes in Xcode

  Hi guys, I am confused over something (what is new!). I have an iPhone program I am writing and using some sqlite in a certain method, and there is some error which is giving me a message that says "Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_ACCESS” Okay, so I am trying to hunt down why this is doing this, and I notice something: When I run the program in debug mode, it gives me this error every single time I access this method (I test on the device). However when I run the program in release mode, I can access this method 2 times, and then it will give me this error the third time. So I mean, can someone just give me an explanation of what might cause this, I think that maybe deep-down I am not that smart on the difference in XCode of debug and release modes. I think that release mode does optimizing, and I guess the actual assembly machine code comes out different, yes? I AM A BIG NEWBIE USER UNFORTUNATELY! I am not clear on a lot of things like this, or whether it needs for I to remove nslog commands in the release build and such. Maybe I should just post the actual code in separate Stack OVerflow post, and see if people can see the error, then maybe this all become clear to me.

• jQuery.ajax() + empty JSON object = parse error

  I get a parse error when using jQuery to load some JSON data. Here's a snippet of my code: jQuery.ajax({ dataType: "json", success: function (json) { jQuery.each(json, function () { alert(this["columnName"]); }); } }); I get no errors when parsing a non-empty JSON object. So my guess is that the problem is with my serializer. Question is: how do I format an empty JSON object which jQuery won't consider malformed? This is what I've tried so far, with no success: {[]} {[null]} {} {null} {"rows": []} {"rows": null} {"rows": {}} UPDATE: I can understand that I've been somewhat vague--let me try and clarify: Parsing of the JSON object is not the issue here--JQuery is - I think. jQuery throws a parse-error (invokes the error function). It seems like jQuery's internal JSON validation is not accepting any of the before mentioned objects. Not even the valid ones. Output of the error function is: XMLHttpRequest: XMLHttpRequest readyState=4 status=200 textStatus: parsererror errorThrown: undefined This goes for all of the before mentioned objects.

• strange memory error when deleting object from Core Data

  I have an application that downloads an xml file, parses the file, and creates core data objects while doing so. In the parse code I have a function called 'emptydatacontext' that removes all items from Core Data before creating replacements from the xml file. This method looks like this: -(void) emptyDataContext { NSMutableArray* mutableFetchResults = [CoreDataHelper getObjectsFromContext:@"Condition" :@"road" :NO :managedObjectContext]; NSFetchRequest * allCon = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; [allCon setEntity:[NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Condition" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]]; NSError * error = nil; NSArray * conditions = [managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:allCon error:&error]; [allCon release]; for (NSManagedObject * condition in conditions) { [managedObjectContext deleteObject:condition]; } } The first time this runs it deletes all objects and functions as it should - creating new objects from the xml file. I created a 'update' button that starts the exact same process of retrieving the file the preceeding as it did the first time. All is well until its time to delete the core data objects again. This 'deleteObject' call creates a "EXC_BAD_ACCESS" error each time. This only happens on the second time through. See this image for the debugger window as it appears when walking through the deletion FOR loop on the second iteration. Conditions is the fetched array of 7 objects with the objects below. Condition should be an individual condition. link text As you can see 'condition' does not match any of the objects in the 'conditions' array. I'm sure this is why I'm getting the memory access errors. Just not sure why this fetch (or the FOR) is returning a wrong reference. All the code that successfully performes this function on the first iteration is used in the second but with very different results. Thanks in advance for the help!

• Undefined Web.config error in VS 2008

  I'm working on a web app using VS 2008, .Net 3.5 and C#. Most of the projects in the solution are either classic asp.net pages with some MVC 1 in the mix, the rest is shared libraries. The solution is one that is some 5 years old and has gone through a variety of developers working on it and clearly has some performance and architectural issues. Previously, I've been working on the project using VS 2008 on a Win XP machine, but have just transitioned over to a new box using Win 7 Ultimate. To do so, I've installed VS 2008, asp.net 3.5. To support future work on the solution I've also installed VS 2010 and asp.net 4.0. Opening the solution on the new box with VS 2008 works fine, and it builds without error. However, when I attempt to run it with the debugger, I get the following message: "There is an error in web.config. Please correct before proceeding. (You might rename the current web.config and add a new one.)" I think it's clear that there is some sort of environmental issue regarding web.config on the new machine, but the error message is not "helpful". Adding a new web.config is not an option as the existing one is quite long and involved (too much to post here). I'm hoping someone has a suggestion or two about where I might look for missing elements or changed configurations that might produce such an error message. Lacking that, I'll revisit this post and provide the web.config in the hope that will elicit further help. Thanks to all in advance for taking a look at this. • Database.ExecuteNonQuery does not return

  I have a very odd issue. When I execute a specific database stored procedure from C# using SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery, my stored procedure is never executed. Furthermore, SQL Profiler does not register the command at all. I do not receive a command timeout, and no exeception is thrown. The weirdest thing is that this code has worked fine over 1,200,000 times, but for this one particular file I am inserting into the database, it just hangs forever. When I kill the application, I receive this error in the event log of the database server: "A fatal error occurued while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 64, output error: 0). Which makes me think that the database server is receiving the command, though SQL Profiler says otherwise. I know that the appropiate permissions are set, and that the connection string is right as this piece of code and stored procedure works fine with other files.   My developer built our registration page to display a div when logins failed based on a string in the URL. • Error accessing uncompiled pages using ISA Server 2006 SP1

  We are in the processing of configuring a portal to use ISA Server as our front end security provider. So we are using ISA Server 2006 SP1. Unfortunately when we access .net applications through ISA Server, the first time they are accessed. i.e. They are not compiled yet, the following error appears: Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. The parameter is incorrect. (87) In the ISA Monitoring logs, this shows: Failed Connection Attempt Log type: Web Proxy (Reverse) Status: 87 The parameter is incorrect. Once the application is compiled, the error never appears. Does anyone know how to resolve this, so the site works correctly the first time? Some additional information: The websites accessed are running on windows server 2008 64 bit - standard edition, and occurs for Sharepoint as well as standard .net websites. ISA Server is running on Windows server 2003 R2 SP2 Standard eidtion The firewall on the windows server 2008 box allows all access. (To rule this out.) Nothing odd appears in the IIS logs or firewall logs.

• Qt moc not error

  So I'm pretty new to Qt, and I've just inherited a project from someone else who is also new to Qt. He isn't around this week btw. We are using Visual Studio 2008, and have the latest version of Qt installed(4.6.2). The project builds on my coworker's machine fine, and I can get the project from svn and build it directly. But under any other circumstances it refuses to build on my machine, and it doesn't give me much of an explanation why. Even if I just do a 'build clean' and then a 'build' it doesn't work. Any slight modification will make it fail. When I try to build the entire project I get the error message: 1Moc'ing MatrixTypeInterface.h... 1moc: Cannot create .\GeneratedFiles\Debug\moc_MatrixTypeInterface.cpp;.\GeneratedFiles\Debug\moc_matrixtypeinterface.cpp 1Project : error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from "Moc'ing MatrixTypeInterface.h..." The moc tool doesn't give any sort of error message as to why it isn't working, and I wasted most of yesterday trying to figure out why. I got the command that VS was using to call moc, and I entered in the command line myself. It didn't write anything to the screen. Any ideas?

  I am trying to get Python running with swig to do C/C++. I am running the tutorial here, 'building a python module'. I am using python2.5 not 2.1 as in the example, is this a problem? The error (everything else is just a 'warning') says something about wrong platform. This is a 64bit machine; is this a problem? Is my gcc configured wrong for my machine? How do I get past this? UPDATE: I am still having problems. How do I actually implement this "fix"?

• System Error when running PyQt4's loadUi()

  Hello, I'm pretty new to Qt, Python and their combinations. I'm currently writing a QGIS plugin in python (I used QtCreator 2.1 (Qt Designer 4.7) to generate a .ui-file and am now trying to use it for a Quantum GIS plugin that's written in Python 2.5 (and running in the Quantum GIS Python 2.5 console)). I am running into trouble when loading the ui-file dynamically when the program runs the loadUi() function. What throws me off is that the error occurs outside my script. Does that mean, I'm passing something wrong into it? Where does the error come in? • Reason for socket.error

  Hi, I am a complete newbie when it comes to python, and programming in general. I've been working on a little webapp for the past few weeks trying to improve my coding chops. A few days ago my laptop was stolen so I went out and got a new MacBook Pro. Thank God I had everything under subversion control. The problem is now that I am on my new machine a script that I was running has stopped working and I have no idea why. This is really the only part of what I have been writing that I borrowed heavily for existing scripts. It is from the widely available whois.py script and I have only slightly modified it as follows (see below). It was running fine on my old system (running ubuntu), but now the socket.error is being raised. I'm completely lost on this, and would really appreciate any help.   I've written a PL/SQL procedure that would benefit if indexes were first disabled, then rebuilt upon completion.   Whenever I use an f.select statement to determine assignment_id(or student_id), and I should get a validation error, I get this error instead of the validation message: You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! You might have expected an instance of Array. Invalid assignment operator. Maybe my Java is rusty after a season in PLSQL. So I tried a simpler example: Integer i = 4; i == null; // compile error: Syntax error on token ==. Invalid assignment operator. Integer i2 = 4; if (i == null); //No problem How can this be? I'm using jdk160_05. To clarify: I'm not trying to assign anything, just do an && operation between two boolean values. If one or more of the column names is not present, the program should return a prompt to the user notifying them which column(s) are missing from the file that they uploaded and then close the file.
