  • Problems while trying to make a query with variables in the conditions (stored procedure)

    - by pablo89
Hi!! Im having a problem, Im trying to do a query... I remember that in the past I did something like this but today this query is returning nothing, no error, no data, just nothing... the query is something like this: SELECT field1, @variableX:=field2 FROM table WHERE (SELECT COUNT(fieldA) FROM table2 WHERE fieldB=@variableX AND fieldC=0)0 AND (SELECT COUNT(fieldA) FROM table2 WHERE fieldB=@variableX AND fieldC=4)=0; I also tried this query but it didnt work (also it gaves no error): SELECT field1, @variableX:=field2, @variableY:=(SELECT COUNT(fieldA) FROM table2 WHERE fieldB=@variableX AND fieldC=0), @variableZ:=(SELECT COUNT(fieldA) FROM table2 WHERE fieldB=@variableX AND fieldC=4) FROM table WHERE @variableY0 AND @variableZ=0; As you can see, what Im trying to do in the 1st query is use a variable in the conditions; in the 2nd query Im trying to create some variables and evaluate them in the conditions. At the end in the 2nd query the @variableY=1 AND @variableZ=0 but I dont know what the query returns an empty data What could be wrong here??? Any comment or suggest is welcome!!! thanks!!! Bye!!!

  • What is the best practise for relational database tables in mysql?

    - by George
Hi, I know, there is a lot of info on mysql out there. But I was not really able to find an answer to this specific and actually simple question: Let's say I have two tables: USERS (with many fields, e.g. name, street, email, etc.) and GROUPS (also with many fields) The relation is (I guess?) 1:n, that is ONE user can be a member of MANY groups. What I dis, is create another table, named USERS_GROUPS_REL. This table has only two fields: us_id (unique key of table USERS) and gr_id (unique key of table GROUPS) In PHP I do a query with join. Is this "best practice" or is there a better way? Thankful for any hint!

  • Query to select from two different tables

    - by ryan
I would like to select from two tables and display my result using this query: CREATE TABLE Buy_Table ( buy_id int identity primary key, user_id int, amount decimal (18,2) ); go INSERT INTO Buy_Table (user_id, amount) VALUES ('1', 10), ('1', 8), ('1', 20), ('3', 1), ('2', 2); go CREATE TABLE Sell_Table ( sell_id int identity primary key, user_id int, amount decimal (18,2) ); go INSERT INTO Sell_Table (user_id, amount) VALUES ('1', 10), ('1', 8), ('1', 20), ('3', 3), ('2', 3); go select [user_id], 'Buy' as [Type], buy_id as [ID], amount from Buy_Table union all select [user_id], 'Sell', sell_id, amount from Sell_Table order by [user_id], [ID], [Type] However the above query will return each row of the user_id like this I want to display my result to something like this in a grid: Can this be done in query itself rather manipulating the grid? Thx

  • When to use JOINs

    - by waiwai933
It seems to me that there are two scenarios in which to use JOINs: When data would otherwise be duplicated When data from one query would otherwise be used in another query Are these scenarios right? Are there any other scenarios in which to use JOIN?

  • methods of joining 2 tables without using JOIN or SELECT more than one distinct table in the query

    - by GB_J
Is there a way of joining results from 2 tables without using JOIN or SELECT from more than one table? The reason being the database im working with requires queries that only contain SELECT, FROM, and WHERE clauses containing only one distinct table. I do, however, need information from other tables for the project i'm working on. More info: the querier returns the query results in a .csv format, is there something we can manipulate there?

  • Count of Sums possibly using group_by

    - by Daniel Johnson
Say you have a user table and an order table which references user (user has_many orders) and contains an item count field. How could you efficiently ask "how many uses ordered how many items?" That is, to generate something along the lines of: Number of users | sum of items ------------------------------- 5 users | 1 item 4 users | 5 items 1 user | 7 items Thanks in advance.

  • Traversing ORM relationships returns duplicate results

    - by NKing253
I have 4 tables -- store, catalog_galleries, catalog_images, and catalog_financials. When I traverse the relationship from store --> catalog_galleries --> catalog_images in other words: store.getCatalogGallery().getCatalogImages() I get duplicate records. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? Any suggestions on where to look? The store table has a OneToOne relationship with catalog_galleries which in turn has a OneToMany relationship with catalog_images and an eager fetch type. The store table also has a OneToMany relationship with catalog_financials.

  • Count, inner join

    - by Urosh
I have two tables: DRIVER (Driver_Id,First name,Last name,...) PARTICIPANT IN CAR ACCIDENT (Participant_Id,Driver_Id-foreign key,responsibility-yes or no,...) Now, I need to find out which driver participated in accident where responsibility is 'YES', and how many times. I did this: Select Driver_ID, COUNT (Participant.Driver_ID)as 'Number of accidents' from Participant in car accident where responsibility='YES' group by Driver_ID order by COUNT (Participant.Driver_ID) desc But, I need to add drivers first and last name from the first table(using inner join, I suppose). I don't know how, because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause. Please help :)

  • SQL query for selecting most recent entries

    - by Mr_Skid_Marks
A table in my database has a column, DATE_ADDED (stored in seconds). I want to extract all rows with the most recent date (aka largest value for DATE_ADDED). The only solution I have come up with is to SELECT all the rows in ASC (ascending) order, grab the last entry from the table, check the date on this, and perform another SELECT on the table but this time only for the discovered DATE_ADDED. Is it possibly to simplify this series of queries into a single one? My thought is I should be able to do a SELECT on all of the largest values in the table, but I am struggling to come up with a proper query.
