• Themeing and Master Pages

  I have the requirement to support themeing of my site's pages. The way I am doing this is by dynamically choosing a master page based on the current theme. I have setup a directory structure like so /shared/masterpages/theme1/Master1.master /shared/masterpages/theme1/Master2.master /shared/masterpages/theme1/Master3.master /shared/masterpages/theme2/Master1.master /shared/masterpages/theme2/Master2.master /shared/masterpages/theme2/Master3.master And I am still using the page directive in the view <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/shared/masterpages/theme1/Master1.Master"%> I would still like to leverage the view's MasterPageFile property and just change the theme directory. I can only think of three ways to do this none of them which sound great. Create a custom BaseView class that uses OnPreInit to change the theme like this Create some xml file or database table that links each view to a master page file and then set this in the controller. Build some tool that reads all the views and parses them for their masterpagefile, (similar to 2 but could be done at run time potentially.) Option 1 seems the best option to me so far. Does anyone else have any thoughts on how to do this?

• Get "term is undefined” error when trying to assign arrayList to List component dataSource

  I'm creating an online game where people log in and then have the list of current players displayed. When the user enters a "room" it dispatches an SFSEvent which includes a Room object with the list of users as User objects in that room. As that event's callback function, I get the list of current users which is an Array, switch the View Stack child index, and then I wrap the user list array in an ArrayList before I assign it to the MXML Spark List component's dataSource. • Authentication problem with Wufoo

  I set up a Wufoo form with admin only portions that will only show up if I am logged in. I read through the Wufoo API documentation and I can get the authenication to work, but when I try to access the form after I authenticate, it says I need to authenticate. I've tried specifying fill_parent for the layout width properties, but to no avail, they still only occupy roughly half of the screen. Documentation overall for Android so far has been great, but there are a few scenarios like this one where I hit an invisible wall! Thanks for all the help!

• SSL HandShakeException: No_Certificate. Using IBM's J9 JVM and Apache Tomcat

  I am developing a mobile application that is to run on a Windows Mobile PDA. The application is written in Java and to run it we are using the J9 JVM from IBM. The application communicates with an Apache Tomcat server over HTTP and we are trying to set it up now to use SSL. I have generated public/private keys for both the client and the server, exported their self signed certificates and imported them into the respective keystores. Initially I tried to just get it working using only server side authentication and that was successful. But I am now trying to get mutual authentication by setting clientAuth="true" in the server.xml file in the apache conf directory. I have enabled the SSL logging on the server and when the client connects the server reports an SSLProtocolException: handshake alert: no_certificate. • Android : Customizing tabs on state : How do I make a selector a drawable

  I know how to put the icon on each tab, that is no problem. I also ran across this : Stack Overflow thread on pretty much same thing I followed one of the links from that question, and found this Pretty much, it said use a selector defined in the xml, sure, did that. But there is no id associated w/ it so I am not sure how to get the selector function as a drawable so I can use it as the icon for the tabs. Maybe I am going about this the wrong way..   I am looking for a report generation tool in ruby or rails which allows the user to define a template, then fetch data into the created template. I have been looking through "The Ruby Box: reporting section." There are two reporting tools I have looked at: Thin Reports: It is really good. You can create your own report template with the template editor. Then you can produce PDF reports using thinreports gems. ODF Report: You can create a template ODF file using Open Office and MS Word, and you can use that template to generate the report. Both of these solutions lack the ability to draw charts. Does anyone know of similar reporting tools that can draw charts within a given report? I have tried the RTF Ruby Library. It works, but shares the limitation that it cannot draw charts and graphs. The minimum requirements are: Able to create customizable templates. (e.g. design layout, set font size, color, embed images etc.) Able to draw tables and charts. Template could be in Docx or excel or xml or any other common file format. Report output report must be in Docx or RTF format. Thanks

  I am using JDBC to connect to MySQL for a small application. In order to test without altering the real database, I'm using HSQL in memory for JUnit tests. I'm using Spring for DI and DAOs. Is there a reason why this would work as a Test, but not as a main()? • How to import data to SAP

  Hi, As a complete stranger in town of SAP, I want to transfer my own application's (mobile salesforce automation) data to SAP. My application has records of customers, stocks, inventory, invoices (and waybills), cheques, payments, collections, stock transfer data etc. I have an additional database which holds matchings of records. ie. A customer with ID 345 in my application has key 120-035-0223 in SAP. Every record, for sure, has to know it's counterpart, including parameters. After searching Google and SAP help site for a day, I covered that it's going to be a bit more pain than I expected. Especially SAP site does not give even a clue on it. Say I couldn't find. We transferred our data to some other ERP systems, some of which wanted XML files, some other exposed their APIs. My point is, is Sql Server's SSIS an option for me? I hope it is, so I can fight on my own territory. Since client requests would vary a lot, I count flexibility as most important criteria. Also, I want to transfer as much data as I could. • Apache Tomcat under Windows: Changing webapps default directory

  I am deploying my Java application with Ant. Unfortunately my test deployment on the local machine doesn't work because of Vista. The Program Files directionaries are protected and i don't want to start Ant or Eclipse as an Admin. So i had the idea to move my webapps folder to a workspace subfolder, so i can use relative paths in Ant as well. The solutions seems to be to modify the Host element in the server.xml. With Linux it isn't such a deal: <Host name="localhost" appBase="/path/to/webapps" unpackWARs="true" autoDeploy="true" xmlValidation="false" xmlNamespaceAware="false"> But with Windows i don't get it right. • Why do Unicode characters show up properly in database, but as ? when printed in Java via Hibernate?

  I'm writing a webapp, and interfacing with MySQL using Hibernate 3.5. Using "?????? ?????????" as my test string, I can input the string and see that it is properly persisted into the database. However, when I later pull the value out of the database and print to the console as a String, I see "?????? ?????????". If I use new OutputStreamWriter(System.out,"UTF-8"); then I get "„Éá„Çp„ÇØ„Éà„ÉÉ„Éó ·Éò·Éú·Éí·Éö·Éò·É°·É£·É†·Éò"". Why don't I see the original string?   Hi, I've been developing an ASP.NET site on an older machine running XP home. I recently got a new Win 7 PC and moved all my project files across. When I try and run the project, I get this error message: "Failed to decrypt using provider 'MyRsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error message from the provider: The RSA key container could not be opened." I realised that I encrypted parts of my web.config file using a RSA encryption. This is where the problem now lies. I'm not sure how to get that key working again so that I can use it on my new machine. I exported the key from the older machine and imported it using: aspnet_regiis -pi "RSAProviderName" "C:\RSA_configkey.xml" This was imported successfully. I then ran the project, but the same error message came up. I figured it might be a permission thing, so I ran: aspnet_regiis -pa "RSAProviderName" "\Desktop" -full This was also successful, but I still get the error. From reading around, I've seen people use "ASPNET" instead of "\Desktop" (Desktop is my machine name). However, when I try and use "ASPNET", I get: No mapping between account name and security IDs was done. <Exception from HRESULT = 0x80070534 I can't work on the project until this is fixed, so any help is much appreciated. • A stupid question regarding google gadgets. How to host a google gadget? How it works?

  Hi, I spent 5 hours by checking google gadgets websites and FAQs. maybe I am really stupid. I have no idea how to host a gadget. What I knew from reading the google website: 1, I can write gadget with xml, javascript etc.. 2, gadget can be added to igoogle etc.. 3, google can host the gadget for you. 4, gadget can be hosted at anywhere??? All of the above information doesn't answer my question. For instance, with jQuery or Dojo Toolkit, I can download the javascript framework and use it. With google gadget, I can not find a download link for the framework. Why? Does google provide its framework? If no, why does google website say it can be hosted anywhere? I am totally confused. A download link is nowhere in google-gadget website. A brief explanation or some helpful links are very welcome!! Thanks a lot!!! Please don't blame me if you think this question is too silly.

• How do I extract HTML content using Regex in PHP

  I know, i know... regex is not the best way to extract HTML text. But I need to extract article text from a lot of pages, I can store regexes in the database for each website. I'm not sure how XML parsers would work with multiple websites. You'd need a separate function for each website. In any case, I don't know much about regexes, so bear with me. I've got an HTML page in a format similar to this <html> <head>...</head> <body> <div class=nav>...</div><p id="someshit" /> <div class=body>....</div> <div class=footer>...</div> </body> I need to extract the contents of the body class container. I tried this. $pattern = "/<div class=\"body\">\(.*?\)<\/div>/sui" $text = $htmlPageAsIs; if (preg_match($pattern, $text, $matches)) echo "MATCHED!"; else echo "Sorry gambooka, but your text is in another castle."; What am I doing wrong? My text ends up in another castle.

• Problem with copying local data onto HDFS on a Hadoop cluster using Amazon EC2/ S3.

  Hi, I have setup a Hadoop cluster containing 5 nodes on Amazon EC2. Now, when i login into the Master node and submit the following command bin/hadoop jar <program>.jar <arg1> <arg2> <path/to/input/file/on/S3> It throws the following errors (not at the same time.) The first error is thrown when i don't replace the slashes with '%2F' and the second is thrown when i replace them with '%2F': 1) Java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid hostname in URI S3://<ID>:<SECRETKEY>@<BUCKET>/<path-to-inputfile> 2) org.apache.hadoop.fs.S3.S3Exception: org.jets3t.service.S3ServiceException: S3 PUT failed for '/' XML Error Message: The request signature we calculated does not match the signature you provided. check your key and signing method. Note: 1)when i submitted jps to see what tasks were running on the Master, it just showed 1116 NameNode 1699 Jps 1180 JobTracker leaving DataNode and TaskTracker. 2)My Secret key contains two '/' (forward slashes). And i replace them with '%2F' in the S3 URI. PS: The program runs fine on EC2 when run on a single node. Its only when i launch a cluster, i run into issues related to copying data to/from S3 from/to HDFS. And, what does distcp do? Do i need to distribute the data even after i copy the data from S3 to HDFS?(I thought, HDFS took care of that internally) IF you could direct me to a link that explains running Map/reduce programs on a hadoop cluster using Amazon EC2/S3. • What AOP tools exist for doing aspect-oriented programming at the assembly language level against x8

  Looking for a tool I can use to do aspect-oriented programming at the assembly language level. For experimentation purposes, I would like the code weaver to operate native application level executable and dynamic link libraries. I have already done object-oriented AOP. I know assembly language for x86 and so forth. I would like to be able to do logging and other sorts of things using the familiar before/after/around constructs. I would like to be able to specify certain instructions or sequences/patterns of consecutive instructions as what to do a pointcut on since assembly/machine language is not exactly the most semantically rich computer language on the planet. If debugger and linker symbols are available, naturally, I would like to be able to use them to identify subroutines' entry points , branch/call/jump target addresses, symbolic data addresses, etc. I would like the ability to send notifications out to other diagnostic tools. Thus, support for sending data through connection-oriented sockets and datagrams is highly desirable. So is normal logging to files, UI, etc. This can be done using the action part of an aspect to make a function call, but then there are portability issues so the tool needs to support a flexible, well-abstracted logging/notifying mechanism with a clean, simple yet flexible. The goal is rapid-QA. The idea is to be able to share aspect source code braodly within communties as well as publicly. So, there needs to be a declarative security policy file that users can share. This insures that nothing untoward that is hidden directly or indirectly in an aspect source file slips by the execution manager. The policy file format needs to be simple to read, write, modify, understand, type-in, edit, and generate. Sort of like Java .policy files. Think the exact opposite of anything resembling XML Schema files and you get the idea. Is there such a tool in existence already?

• Prefix for element not bound

  Hello! I am a newbie in Flex development and using Flash Builder 4 with SDK 4. Now I get the error that "the prefix "fx" for element "fx:Style" is not bound" in line number 4. I searched for it, and it has sth. to do with namespaces, but I can not solve it by myelf. • Secure Password Storage and Transfer

  I'm developing a new user store for my organisation and am now tackling password storage. The concepts of salting, HMAC etc are all fine with me - and want to store the users' passwords either salted and hashed, HMAC hashed, or HMAC salted and hashed - not sure what the best way will be - but in theory it won't matter as it will be able to change over time if required. I want to have an XML & JSON service that can act as a Security Token Service for client-side apps. I've already developed one for another system, which requires that the client double-encrypts a clear-text password using SHA1 first and then HMACSHA1 using a 128 unique key (or nonce) supplied by the server for that session only. I'd like to repeat this technique for the new system - upgrading the algo to SHA256 (chosen since implementations are readily available for all aforementioned platforms - and it's much stronger than SHA1) - but there is a problem. If I'm storing the password as a salted hash in the user-store, the client will need to be sent that salt in order to construct the correct hash before being HMACd with the unique session key. This would completely go against the point of using a salt in the first place. Equally, if I don't use salt for password storage, but instead use HMAC, it's still the same problem. At the moment, the only solution I can see is to use naked SHA256 hashing for the password in the user store, so that I can then use this as a starting point on both the server and the client for a more secure salted/hmacd password transfer for the web service. This still leaves the user store vulnerable to a dictionary attack were it ever to be accessed; and however unlikely that might be - assuming it will never happen simply doesn't sit well with me. Greatly appreciate any input.

• Correctly use dependency injection

  Me and two other colleagues are trying to understand how to best design a program. For example, I have an interface ISoda and multiple classes that implement that interface like Coke, Pepsi, DrPepper, etc.... My colleague is saying that it's best to put these items into a database like a key/value pair. For example: Key | Name -------------------------------------- Coke | my.namespace.Coke, MyAssembly Pepsi | my.namespace.Pepsi, MyAssembly DrPepper | my.namespace.DrPepper, MyAssembly ... then have XML configuration files that map the input to the correct key, query the database for the key, then create the object. I don't have any specific reasons, but I just feel that this is a bad design, but I don't know what to say or how to correctly argue against it. My second colleague is suggesting that we micro-manage each of these classes. So basically the input would go through a switch statement, something similiar to this: ISoda soda; switch (input) { case "Coke": soda = new Coke(); break; case "Pepsi": soda = new Pepsi(); break; case "DrPepper": soda = new DrPepper(); break; } This seems a little better to me, but I still think there is a better way to do it. I've been reading up on IoC containers the last few days and it seems like a good solution. However, I'm still very new to dependency injection and IoC containers, so I don't know how to correctly argue for it. Or maybe I'm the wrong one and there's a better way to do it? If so, can someone suggest a better method? What kind of arguments can I bring to the table to convince my colleagues to try another method? What are the pros/cons? Why should we do it one way? Unfortunately, my colleagues are very resistant to change so I'm trying to figure out how I can convince them.

• Content-disposition:inline header won't show images inline?

  I'm trying to show an image inline on a page. I know when the browser can't display the content inline it will force a download anyway, but these are PNG and GIF images which display in the browser fine otherwise. In IE it doesn't force a download but it displays the image in ASCII. If I comment out the entire image case it FF and Chrome both display the ASCII but not the image. I thought setting the content type would allow FF and Chrome to show the actual image, and also allow the location to be used as an src. The javascript and css shows fine of course. Anyone got any ideas how I can make the images show properly? Thanks :)
