  • Fading Element on Scroll

    - by user179846
    I'm curious how I can create a DIV (or anything really) that I can fade (or change opacity of) when a user scrolls down the page. This DIV would sit at the top of the page, but only be clearly visible when at the very top of the page. Additionally, it would be ideal if I I could have this element fade back in onmouseover, regardless of the current scrolled position on the page.

  • How to return function in document ready?

    - by FatDogMark
    I don't know if it is possible to do this, like I have 2 js files. The first Js File: var news_pos, about_pos, services_pos, clients_pos; function define_pos(){ var $top_slides=$('#top_slides'), $mid_nav=$('#mid_nav'), $news_section=$('#section-1'); var fixed_height = $top_slides.height()+$mid_nav.height(); news_pos = fixed_height-20 ; about_pos = fixed_height+$news_section.height(); services_pos = fixed_height+$news_section.height()*2; clients_pos = fixed_height+$news_section.height()*3; } $(document).ready(function(){ var section_news = $('#section-1'), section_about = $('#section-2'), section_services = $('#section-3'), section_clients = $('#section-4'); setheight(); function setheight(){ var section_height=$(window).height()+200; $section_news.height(section_height); $section_about.height(section_height); $section_services.height(section_height); $section_clients.height(section_height); define_pos(); } }); The second JS File: $(document).ready(function(){ var nav = { '$btn1':$('#btn1'), '$btn2':$('#btn2'), '$btn3':$('#btn3'), '$btn4':$('#btn4'), '$btn5':$('#btn5'), myclick : function(){ myclicked(nav.$btn1,0); myclicked(nav.$btn2,news_pos); myclicked(nav.$btn3,about_pos); myclicked(nav.$btn4,services_pos); myclicked(nav.$btn5,clients_pos); function myclicked(j,k){ j.click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); $('html,body').animate({scrollTop: k}, 1000); }); } //Is it right to do return{'myclick':myclick}, how to call? seems not logical } } nav.myclick(); // Here will not work because it say news_pos is undefined //if I use setTimeout(nav.myclick,1000), it will works but I want to run it right the when position is caculated. }); How do I pass the nav.myclick() function to the frist js file and put it in setheight() and under define_pos()? By the way writing codes right in stackoverflow is strange,press tab not really give you any spacing.

  • Can I use a method as a lambda?

    - by NewAlexandria
    I have an interface the defines a group of conditions. it is one of several such interfaces that will live with other models. These conditions will be called by a message queue handler to determine completeness of an alert. All the alert calls will be the same, and so I seek to DRY up the enqueue calls a bit, by abstracting the the conditions into their own methods (i question if methods is the right technique). I think that by doing this I will be able to test each of these conditions. class Loan module AlertTriggers def self.included(base) base.extend LifecycleScopeEnqueues # this isn't right Loan::AlertTriggers::LifecycleScopeEnqueues.instance_method.each do |cond| class << self def self.cond ::AlertHandler.enqueue_alerts( {:trigger => Loan.new}, cond ) end end end end end module LifecycleScopeEnqueues def student_awaiting_cosigner lambda { |interval, send_limit, excluding| excluding ||= '' Loan.awaiting_cosigner. where('loans.id not in (?)', excluding.map(&:id) ). joins(:petitions). where('petitions.updated_at > ?', interval.days.ago). where('petitions.updated_at <= ?', send_limit.days.ago) } end end I've considered alternatives, where each of these methods act like a scope. Down that road, I'm not sure how to have AlertHandler be the source of interval, send_limit, and excluding, which it passes to the block/proc when calling it.

  • JQuery .get() only passing first two data parameters in url

    - by The.Anti.9
    I have a $.get() call to a PHP page that takes 4 GET parameters. For some reason, despite giving the $.get() call all 4, it only passes the first two. When I look at the dev console in chrome, it shows the URL that gets called, and it only passes action and dbname. Heres the code: $.get('util/util.php', { action: 'start', dbname: db, url: starturl, crawldepth: depth }, function(data) { if (data == 'true') { status = 1; $('#0').append(starturl + "<ul></ul>"); $('#gobutton').hide(); $('#loading').show("slow"); while(status == 1) { setTimeout("update()",10000); } } else { show_error("Form data incomplete!"); } }); and heres the URL that I see in the developer console: http://localhost/pci/util/util.php?action=start&dbname=1hkxorr9ve1kuap2.db

  • closure not working

    - by dorelal
    var Dog = function() { var _instance = 'hello world'; return function() { console.log(this._instance); } } (); //note that it is self invoking function var l = new Dog(); //#> undefined In the above case I was expecting output of 'hello world'. Why this._instance is not accessing the the varible which should be accessible by virtue of closure. I tested this in FF and am getting undefined.

  • Preventing click event with jQuery drag and drop

    - by Sasha Yanovets
    I have an elements on page that are draggabe with jQuery. These elements have click event wich navigates to another page (ordinary links for example). What is the best way to prevent click from firing on dropping such element, while allowing clicking it in not drag and drop state? I have this problem with sortable elements, but think it is good to have solution for general drag and drop. I've solved the problem for myself. After that found that same solution exists for Scriptaculous, but maybe someone have a better way to achieve that.

  • serializeArray doesn't include submit-button value

    - by guzh
    Hi, I got two submit buttons in a form. One that deletes the post, and one to edit it. I want to display a fancybox with either the edit-form or a message saying that the user deleted the post. It's all decided by which button was pushed, with a "if(isset)"-sentence in edit.php. However I can't figure out how to get the value of the button within the serializeArray.. I tried with .click(function() instead, but that didn't send anything to the fancybox.. $("#form").bind("submit", function() { $.ajax({ type : "POST", cache : false, url : "edit.php", data : $(this).serializeArray(), success: function(data) { $.fancybox(data); } }); return false; }); The form looks like this: <form method='post' action='' id="form"> <input type='submit' value='Edit' name='edit' /> <input type='submit' value='Delete' name='delete' onClick="return slett('<?php echo $oppgave->name; ?>')"/> <input name='oppgaveID' type='hidden' value='<?php echo $oppgave->id; ?>' /> </form> I would really appreciate it if someone could help me! Thanks in advance!

  • Force an array to recalcuate length after sort

    - by Rhyono
    If you take an array and do the following: arr = []; arr[100] = 1; The length will be 101, which makes sense due to 0-99 being set as undefined Now if we sort that array: arr.sort() it will look like this: [1, undefined x100] since keys are not preserved. However, the length is still 101, since the undefined have all been moved to the end, instead of removed. Is this behavior intentional and if so: is there a built-in function that removes undefined and recalculates and why is it intentional? I am not asking how to write my own function to recalculate length. A sorted array's length can easily be forced with for (x = 0; arr[x] != undefined; x++);arr.length = x;

  • Main page content populated on the fly?

    - by jcovert
    Is there any reason to NOT have a webpage retrieve it's main content on the fly? For example, I have a page that has a header and a footer, and in the middle of this page is an empty div. When you click on one of the buttons in the header, an http GET is done behind the scenes and the .innerHTML() of the empty div is replaced with the result. I can't think of any reason why this might be a bad idea, but I can't seem to find any pages out there that do it? Please advise!

  • JSON + PHP + JQuery + Autocomplete problem...

    - by RohanCS
    Hi Everyone, Only started today but I'm having massive problems trying to understand JSON/AJAX etc, I've gotten my code this far but am stumped on how to return the data being pulled by the AJAX request to the jQuery Auto complete function. var autocomplete = new function (){ this.init = function() { $('#insurance_destination').autocomplete({source: lookup}); } function lookup(){ $.ajax({ url: "scripts/php/autocomplete.php", data: {query:this.term}, dataType: "json", cache : false, success: function(data) { for(key in data){ return { label: key, value: data[key][0] } } } }); } } And example of the JSON string being returned by a PHP script {"Uganda":["UGA","UK4","Worldwide excluding USA, Canada and the Carribbean"]}

  • Adding zeros when length is less

    - by David
    Is there a smart way to convert numbers to string and automatically add zeroes so the length is the same as the maximum? like this: for (var i=0; i<30; i++) { var c = i.toString(); if (c.length == 1) { c = '0'+=c; } } But smarter

  • rearrange Array according to values order of another Array

    - by Exception
    I have two arrays like below var arr = ["x", "y", "z", "a", "b", "c"]; var tgtArr = [{val:"a"}, {val:"b"}]; It does not need to be as lengthy as Array `arr` This is what I have tried var dest = new Array(arr.length); for(var i = 0; i < arr.length; i++){ for(var k = 0; k < tgtArr.length; k++){ dest[i] = dest[i] || []; if(tgtArr[k].val == arr[i]){ dest[i] = arr[i]; } } } console.log(dest); My Expected output is (for above tgtArr value) [{}, {}, {}, {val:"a"}, {val:"b"}, {}]; if tgtArr is empty Array [{},{},{},{},{},{}] Here is the fiddle. Any alternative for this, it seems not a good way to me as I am iterating through the entire array everytime.
