    - by Zier Gofren Schlanum
    Using toogle to show/hide the div, I've got a problem that when I hide my div with anothor function, I have to click twice on the button to perform correct action. Is there any way change the toggle switch like I clicked the button? $('#add_task').toggle(function() { if ($("#new_task_status").attr("value")==0) { $("#new_task").slideDown(); $("#new_task_status").attr("value", "1"); } }, function() { if ($("#new_task_status").attr("value")==1) { $("#new_task").slideUp(); $("#new_task_status").attr("value", "0"); } }); $('nav').click(function() { if ($("#new_task_status").attr("value")==1) { $("#new_task_status").attr("value", "0"); $("#new_task").slideUp(); } });

  • Force an array to recalcuate length after sort

    - by Rhyono
    If you take an array and do the following: arr = []; arr[100] = 1; The length will be 101, which makes sense due to 0-99 being set as undefined Now if we sort that array: arr.sort() it will look like this: [1, undefined x100] since keys are not preserved. However, the length is still 101, since the undefined have all been moved to the end, instead of removed. Is this behavior intentional and if so: is there a built-in function that removes undefined and recalculates and why is it intentional? I am not asking how to write my own function to recalculate length. A sorted array's length can easily be forced with for (x = 0; arr[x] != undefined; x++);arr.length = x;

  • How to match !x but not !!x in JS regex?

    - by mpeterson
    Given the following text: This is!!xa simple string!xpattern I would like to get a regexp that matches the !x that's between "string" and "pattern" but not !!xa that's between "is" and "a". This regexp is to be used inside a string split(). I have tried several combinations but I cannot get a regexp that meets my needs. Perhaps my expression is not so regular after all =) Thanks in advance!

  • closure not working

    - by dorelal
    var Dog = function() { var _instance = 'hello world'; return function() { console.log(this._instance); } } (); //note that it is self invoking function var l = new Dog(); //#> undefined In the above case I was expecting output of 'hello world'. Why this._instance is not accessing the the varible which should be accessible by virtue of closure. I tested this in FF and am getting undefined.

  • Main page content populated on the fly?

    - by jcovert
    Is there any reason to NOT have a webpage retrieve it's main content on the fly? For example, I have a page that has a header and a footer, and in the middle of this page is an empty div. When you click on one of the buttons in the header, an http GET is done behind the scenes and the .innerHTML() of the empty div is replaced with the result. I can't think of any reason why this might be a bad idea, but I can't seem to find any pages out there that do it? Please advise!

  • Prototype setStyle not working in IE6.

    - by Smickie
    Hi, I'm using prototype and setStyle in IE6 is just messing everything up. It's throwing a big error. I've Googled it but cant find a solution. I've identified the line in prototype with the IE script debugger, it's the final else block: setStyle: function(element, styles) { element = $(element); var elementStyle = element.style, match; if (Object.isString(styles)) { element.style.cssText += ';' + styles; return styles.include('opacity') ? element.setOpacity(styles.match(/opacity:\s*(\d?\.?\d*)/)[1]) : element; } for (var property in styles) if (property == 'opacity') element.setOpacity(styles[property]); else elementStyle[(property == 'float' || property == 'cssFloat') ? (Object.isUndefined(elementStyle.styleFloat) ? 'cssFloat' : 'styleFloat') : property] = styles[property]; return element; }, Anyone had this problem? P.S. normally I would use jQuery however this is someone else code I've had to update.

  • Python - Submit Information on a Website to Extract Data from Resulting Page

    - by bloodstorm17
    So I am trying to figure out how to post on a website that uses a drop down menu which is holding the values like this (based on the page source): <td valign="top" align="right"><span class="emphasis">Select Item Option : </span></td> <td align="left"> <span class="notranslate"> <select name="ItemOption1"> <option value="">Select Item Option</option> <option value="321_cba">Item Option 1</option> <option value="123_abcd">Item Option 2</option> ... Now there are two of these drop down menus on top of each other. I want to be able to select an item from drop down menu 1 and drop down menu 2 and then submit the page. Now based on the code it submits the information using the following code: <td colspan="2" align="center"> <input type="submit" value="View Result" onclick="return check()"> </td> </tr> </table> <input type="hidden" name="ItemOption1" value=""> <input type="hidden" name="ItemOption2" value=""> I have no idea how to select the items in the drop down menu and then submit the page and capture the information on the resulting page into a text file. Can someone please help me with this?

  • How can I use a variable as a jQuery option value?

    - by mattgorecki
    I currently have jQuery code that looks like this: if ($.url.param("s") == "error") { $.gritter.add({ title: 'Error!', text: $.url.param('message') }); } I'm checking to see if the request variable s exists in the url (ie. http://example.com/?s=error&message=this%20is%20my%20message and then showing a popup message that contains information from request variable message. The popup works just fine, but the message variable isn't populated, the plugin asks for a string as a value for the text option. What is the proper way to grab the message variable?

  • Is this the best way to query an element and its children?

    - by Soviut
    I'm trying to query an element and its children to find ID's that begin with a particular string. var foundIDs = containerElement.find('[id^=something]').andSelf().filter('id^=something'); The find() method only searches descendants so I thought I'd try andSelf(). However, andSelf() does not take a selector. This means that the container element is included regardless of whether it matches the find query or not and I then have to perform a secondary filter() on it to remove the container element if it didn't match after all. I attempted to put andSelf() before the find() but it didn't seem to pick up the container element into the stack. containerElement.andSelf().find('[id^=something]'); Is there any better way to achieve what I'm doing?

  • What's the best way to display a blown-up image using minimal JQuery?

    - by TkTech
    The Goal: On mouseover (or :hover), enlarge the preview image by about 400% and display it in the center of the page Remove the preview when the mouse leaves The Problem: Solutions like FancyBox are too bloated in FancyBox's case it ignores width and height for image elements, which makes it useless Most of these "lightboxes" steal focus when they're called Really, I'm just looking for a simple, efficient solution. Oops - StackOverflow won't let me post images yet, mockup - http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/7649/idae.png
