  • What are all the concurrent things [data structure, algorithm, locking mechanism] missing in .Net 3.

    - by user49767
First time I am bit disappointed in StackOverflow cause my http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2571727/c-concurrency-vs-java-concurrency-which-is-neatly-designed-which-is-better question was closed. My intension was just trying to gather knowledge from programming guru's who worked in both the programming technologies. Rather closing this question, please help me by discussing what is good, bad, and ugly in multi-threading part in both the platforms. It is also welcome, if someone would like to compare with .Net 4.0 with JDK 6 (or JDK 7)

  • Is it possible to select data with max value for a column using Criteria in Hibernate?

    - by Palo
Lets say I have the following mapping: <hibernate-mapping package="mypackage"> <class name="User" table="user"> <id name="id" column="id"> <generator class="native"></generator> </id> <property name="name" /> <property name="age" /> </class> </hibernate-mapping> Is it possible to select the oldest user (that is age is maximal) using Criteria in Hibernate? I can imagine that i could do this with 2 selects. (first select total number of users and then order the entries descending by age and select the first entry). But is it possible with a single select? Thank you Palo

  • How to crosscheck two tables and insert relevant data into a new table in MYSQL?

    - by JackDamery
I'm trying to crosscheck a row that exists in two tables using a MYSQL query in phpmyadmin and then if a userID is found in both tables, insert their userID and user name into another table. Here's my code: INSERT INTO userswithoutmeetings SELECT user.userID IF('user.userID'='meeting.userID'); I keep getting plagued by this error: 1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'IF('user.userID'='meeting.userID')' at line 3 Other statements I've tried have worked but not deposited the values in the table.

  • C# How to output to GUI when data is coming via an interface via MarshalByRefObject?

Hey, can someone please show me how i can write the output of OnCreateFile to a GUI? • How to get user data in form in Symfony 1.2?

    - by James Inman
I'm using Symfony 1.2 in a standard Propel form class. public function configure() { $this->setWidgets(array( 'graduate_job_title' => new sfWidgetFormInput( array(), array( 'maxlength' => 80, 'size' => 30, 'value' => '' ) ) )); //etc } However, I want the value of this field to come from the user information, which I'd normally access using $this->getUser()->getAttribute( '...' ). However, this doesn't seem to work in the form. What should I be using?

  • Rendering field data as a link in Ruby on Rails...

    - by bgadoci
Ok, I think this is probably an easy question but for the life of my I can't figure it out. I have created a table called ugtags and in that table I have two columns (beyond the basics), 'name' and 'link'. I am trying to allow a user to add a link to a page. Ideally they would enter the link title (name) and the url (link) and in the view it would display the title as a link to the url that was entered in the link column. I there a way to do it by simply affecting the <%= link_to h(ugtag.name) %> code?

  • How to send data many times to web browser in response to one request?

    - by robert_d
I have a form on my web page, it allows to submit many queries to my website, every query is on a separate line in TextArea. Because waiting for all queries to complete is too long I would like to update the web page after every query completes - send result of one query to a web browser, new result should be appended to old results that are already on the web page. How to do this in ASP.NET MVC 2? I will be grateful for helpful responses.

  • Is there an efficient way to figure out the headers, cookies, and get/post data being passed to a si

    - by kryptobs2000
More specifically I'm looking for something, perhaps an add-on for firefox, once enabled it logs all of this information as it's passed to and from the server. I'm doing some web scripting and this would be really handy. If anyone is wondering specifically what I'm doing currently I'm trying to make a script to repost my craigslist ad every 2 days since I handle a few things on there. Might even go so far as to make a simple gui to manage the submissions. I do suspect this goes against the ToS, for that reason I don't plan to release the code. Besides cl is already bad enough with spam, I'm not trying to contribute further to it, figured I'd say what I'm doing for the sake of being honest though. I don't have any bad intentions with this, just some things I've been trying to sell an ad for my pc repair business. I've been reposting some things for months now and so often I just forget to do it.

  • Coffeescript getting proper scope from callback method

    - by pandabrand
    I've searched for this and can't seem to find an successful answer, I'm using a jQuerey ajax call and I can't get the response out to the callback. Here's my coffeescript code: initialize: (@blog, @posts) -> _url = @blog.url _simpleName = _url.substr 7, _url.length _avatarURL = exports.tumblrURL + _simpleName + 'avatar/128' $.ajax url: _avatarURL dataType: "jsonp" jsonp: "jsonp" (data, status) => handleData(data) handleData: (data) => console.log data @avatar = data Here's the compiled JS: Blog.prototype.initialize = function(blog, posts) { var _avatarURL, _simpleName, _url, _this = this; this.blog = blog; this.posts = posts; _url = this.blog.url; _simpleName = _url.substr(7, _url.length); _avatarURL = exports.tumblrURL + _simpleName + 'avatar/128'; return $.ajax({ url: _avatarURL, dataType: "jsonp", jsonp: "jsonp" }, function(data, status) { return handleData(data); }); }; Blog.prototype.handleData = function(data) { console.log(data); return this.avatar = data; }; I've tried a dozen variations and I can't figure out how to write this? Thanks.

  • Validation errors prevent the property setter being called

    - by HA
Hi, I am looking for a simple solution to the following problem: I am using a simple TextBox control with the Text property bound to a property in the code behind. Additionally I am using a validation rule to notify the user of malformed input. ... error display style here ... Now after entering valid data into the TextBox the user can hit a button to send the data. When clicking the button the data from the bound property UserName in the code behind is evaluated and sent. The problem is that a user can enter valid data into the TextBox and this will be set in the property UserName. If the user then decides to change the text in the TextBox and the data becomes invalid, the setter of the property UserName is not called after the failed validation. This means that the last valid data remains in the property UserName, while the TextBox display the invalid data with the error indicator. If the user then clicks on the button to send the data, the last valid data will be sent instead of the current TextBox content. I know I could deactivate the button if the data is invalid and in fact I do, but the method is called in the setter of UserName. And if that is not called after a failed validation the button stays enabled. So the question is: How do I enable calling of the property setter after a failed validation?

  • What data (if any) persists across web-requests in Ruby on Rails?

    - by Daniel Beardsley
I decided to use the singleton design pattern while creating a view helper class. This got me thinking; will the singleton instance survive across requests? This led to another question, Which variables (if any) survive across web requests and does that change depending on deployment? (Fastcgi, Mongrel, Passenger, ...) I know that Controller instance variables aren't persisted. I know Constants are persisted (or reloaded?). But I don't know about class variables, instance variables on a class, Eigenclasses, ...

  • Using Jquery 1.8.0 return false is not breaking an each() loop

    - by user1879729

  • In R draw two lines, with slopes double and half the value of the best fit line

    - by D W
I have data with a best fit line draw. I need to draw two other lines. One needs to have double the slope and the other need to have half the slope. Later I will use the region to differentially color points outside it as per: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2687212/conditionally-colour-data-points-outside-of-confidence-bands-in-r Example dataset: ## Dataset from http://www.apsnet.org/education/advancedplantpath/topics/RModules/doc1/04_Linear_regression.html ## Disease severity as a function of temperature # Response variable, disease severity diseasesev<-c(1.9,3.1,3.3,4.8,5.3,6.1,6.4,7.6,9.8,12.4) # Predictor variable, (Centigrade) temperature<-c(2,1,5,5,20,20,23,10,30,25) ## For convenience, the data may be formatted into a dataframe severity <- as.data.frame(cbind(diseasesev,temperature)) ## Fit a linear model for the data and summarize the output from function lm() severity.lm <- lm(diseasesev~temperature, data=severity) # Take a look at the data plot( diseasesev~temperature, data=severity, xlab="Temperature", ylab="% Disease Severity", pch=16, pty="s", xlim=c(0,30), ylim=c(0,30) ) title(main="Graph of % Disease Severity vs Temperature") par(new=TRUE) # don't start a new plot abline(severity.lm, col="blue")
