  • fprintf() within a subprogram

    - by sergio
    Im stuck when trying to write to my file within my subprogram. void new_page(float *a, float *b, float *c, int *d){ fprintf(results,"\nPage Totals: %f\t%f\t%f\t%d", *a,*b,*c,*d); } I get a warning saying "Warning: incompatible implicit declaration of built-in function 'fprinf' [enabled by default]" "error: 'results' undeclared (first use in this function)" in main fprintf works fine, its just when it comes to the subprogram/function it wont work. from my understanding it thinks that results is undeclared, so do i have to pass the name or location of the file to make it work?

  • Pass logger instance to class

    - by mridang
    Hi Guys, I'm using a open-source Python library in my project. This library logs a lot of information using the logging class. ...but I can't see the output or log it to file. I know that i would have to create a logger instance and add a file-handler or a console-handler to it but how can i pass this logger instance to the class? Here's the init snippet of the class that I'm going to be using. class Periscope: ''' Main Periscope class''' def __init__(self): self.config = ConfigParser.SafeConfigParser({"lang": "en"}) if is_local: self.config_file = os.path.join(bd.xdg_config_home, "periscope", "config") if not os.path.exists(self.config_file): folder = os.path.dirname(self.config_file) if not os.path.exists(folder): logging.info("Creating folder %s" %folder) os.mkdir(folder) logging.info("Creating config file") configfile = open(self.config_file, "w") self.config.write(configfile) configfile.close() else: #Load it self.config.read(self.config_file) self.pluginNames = self.listExistingPlugins() self._preferedLanguages = None Any help? Thanks guys.

  • stored procedures and triggers the same in sql server than mysql?

    - by user314877
    Hello, I have two stored procedures and one trigger for a class I am taking that are done in sql server 2005. I want to recreate them in mysql with phpmyadmin. Everytime i put them in I get a 1064 error. Is this becuase phpmyadmin does not handle stored procedures or triggers well, or is it becuase the syntax from sql server 2005 to mysql is very different? If it is this, then where could i go online to learn the correct syntax to write my stored procedures and triggers in mysql/phpmyadmin... or should I just pick up a book at barnes and nobles? This is my senior project.

  • How can I try a new language or framework without installing it?

    - by flamingLogos
    With so many languages and frameworks that exist, and with new ones appearing all the time, I don't have the time to download, install, and configure each one to evaluate it. In the past I've run across webapps that allow one to write or paste code into a window, and see the results in realtime in the browser, usually in a tutorial setting. What are your favorite sandbox sites for a given technology? Edit: @fretj provided the link to the excellent Google Code Playground (+1 upvote), but I thought that it was just for experimenting with Google's own apps (Search, Maps, Earth, Language, etc). But it turns out that it contains a few hidden gems: In addition to their apps, you can try out the many Javascript libraries that they host including jQuery, jQuery UI, MooTools, Dojo, and Prototype Scriptaculous. They're all hidden under the Libraries category in the "Pick an API" box. I overlooked the category because I thought it was for an app called Google Libraries. There's also a Javascript category for Javascript itself.

  • Difficulty to start up with basic unit test (Sample from my book -- SportsStore)

    - by Richard77
    Hello, I'm really new in TDD and, actually, I'm trying to follow the sample from my book (SportsStore -- Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework/Steve Sanderson/APRESS). I'm on pages 103-105. Although there are more on this, as new to all of this, I'm concerned with the following statements. ProductsController controller = new ProductsController(repository); var result = controller.List(2); //... regarding the above statements, when I write this (as in the book), var products = result.ViewData.Model as IList<Product>; I get a compiler error "System.Web.MVC.ActionResult" does not contain a definition for ViewData ..." But, when I remove the List() from the statement, then the compiler error disapear. var result = controller.List(2);//Doesn't work var result = controller;//It works Is something wrong there? I checked Apress website for that book, but there is nothing listed as Errata or issue. So I'm really lost. Thanks for helping

    - by m159701m
    Hi evryone, While playing an audio file (.wav) I want , if I resort to ctrl+c , to stop the playback and save part of the audio file in a file called "file2.wav". Here's the thread I'd like to add to my code. Unfortunately it doesn't work at all. Thanks in advance class myThread extends Thread{ public void run(){ try { PipedOutputStream poStream = new PipedOutputStream(); PipedInputStream piStream = new PipedInputStream(); poStream.connect(piStream); File cutaudioFile = new File ("file2.wav"); AudioInputStream ais = new AudioInputStream(piStream, AudioFileFormat.Type.WAVE , cutaudioFile); poStream.write(ais,AudioFileFormat.Type.WAVE,cutaudioFile); }catch (Exception e){ e.printStackTrace(); } } // end run } // end myThread

  • AJAX server calls on a JSF-centric app

    - by Konrad Garus
    I'm building a JSF 2 application. I wanted to integrate it with jQuery, e.g.: $.getJSON(contextPath + '/something', function(data) { // ... }); I need contextPath/something to return data in JSON. How can I do it? I know I can assign another servlet to this URL, but this approach does not seem to scale well. One could use a more scalable approach with a front end controller (e.g. Spring Web MVC), but I really wanted to write this in Java Enterprise stack. What other options are there?

  • Wordpress & Django -- One domain, two servers. Possible?

    - by DomoDomo
    My question is about hosting Django and Wordpress under one domain, but two physical machines (actually, they are VMs but same diff). Let's say I have a Django webapp at example.com. I'd like to start a Wordpress blog about my webapp, so any blog page rank mojo flows back to my webapp, I'd like the blog address t be example.com/blog. My understanding is blog.example.com would not transfer said page rank mojo. Because I'm worried about Wordpress security flaws compromising my Django webapp, I want to host Django and Wordpress on two physically separate machines. Given all that, is it possible using re-write rules or a reverse proxy server to do this? I know the easy way is to make my Wordpress blog a subdomain, but I really don't want to do that. Has anyone done this in the past, is it stable? If I need a third server to be a dedicated reverse proxy, that's totally fine. Thanks!

  • Sending message from one server to another in Twisted

    - by Casey Patton
    I've implemented my servers in the following way: def makeServer(application, port): factory = protocol.ServerFactory() factory.protocol = MyChat factory.clients = [] internet.TCPServer(port, factory).setServiceParent(application) application = service.Application("chatserver") server1 = makeServer(application, port=1025) server2 = makeServer(application, port=1026) server3 = makeServer(application, port=1027) Note that MyChat is an event handling class that has a "receiveMessage" action: def lineReceived(self, line): print "received", repr(line) for c in self.factory.clients: c.transport.write(message + '\n') I want server1 to be able to pass messages to server2. Rather, I want server1 to be treated as a client of server2. If server1 receives the message "hi" then I want it to send that same exact message to server2. How can I accomplish this?

  • UIWebView doesn't load some link

    - by elos
    hello I'm trying to write an rss feed viewer for my iPhone. In my DetailView I have a UIWebView where I want to display specific link retrieved with the rss item.: NSString* url = [data objectForKey:@"link"]; NSString *encodedUrl = [url stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding ]; NSLog(@"Selected link:%@",url); NSURLRequest *request = [[NSURLRequest alloc] initWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:encodedUrl]]; [itemWebpage loadRequest:request]; [request release]; now,if the retrieved link is something like www.shazaam.com it works. But as soon as the link is something like: http://www.shazam.com/music/web/track?id=41970148" it doesn't. • prevent race condition without using locks C++

    - by Hristo
    How do I prevent a race condition with locking or using mutexes/semaphors in C++? I'm dealing with a nested for loop in which I will be setting a value in an array: for (int i = 0; i < m; ++i) for (int j = 0; j < n; ++j) for (int k = 0; k < o; ++k) array[k] += foo(...); More or less, I want to deal with this so that I can ensure different threads running at the same time don't write to array[k] at the same time. Any suggestions on how to approach this? Thanks, Hristo

  • Programatically WPF Fade In (via extension methods)

    - by Dinis Cruz
    I'm trying to write a simple (stand alone) C# extension method to do a Fade-In of a generic WPF UIElement, but the solutions (and code samples) that I found all contain a large number of moving parts (like setting up a story, etc...) For reference here is an example of the type of API method I would like to create. This code will rotate an UIElement according to the values provided (fromValue, toValue, duration and loop) public static T rotate<T>(this T uiElement, double fromValue, double toValue, int durationInSeconds, bool loopAnimation) where T : UIElement { return (T)uiElement.wpfInvoke( ()=>{ DoubleAnimation doubleAnimation = new DoubleAnimation(fromValue, toValue, new Duration(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(durationInSeconds))); RotateTransform rotateTransform = new RotateTransform(); uiElement.RenderTransform = rotateTransform; uiElement.RenderTransformOrigin = new System.Windows.Point(0.5, 0.5); if (loopAnimation) doubleAnimation.RepeatBehavior = RepeatBehavior.Forever; rotateTransform.BeginAnimation(RotateTransform.AngleProperty, doubleAnimation); return uiElement; }); }

  • How to parse a tar file in C++

    - by Brendan Long
    What I want to do is download a .tar file with multiple directories with 2 files each. The problem is I can't find a way to read the tar file without actually extracting the files (using tar). The perfect solution would be something like: #include <easytar> Tarfile tar("somefile.tar"); std::string currentFile, currentFileName; for(int i=0; i<tar.size(); i++){ file = tar.getFileText(i); currentFileName = tar.getFileName(i); // do stuff with it } I'm probably going to have to write this myself, but any ideas would be appreciated..

  • filtering elements from list of lists in Python?

    - by user248237
    I want to filter elements from a list of lists, and iterate over the elements of each element using a lambda. For example, given the list: a = [[1,2,3],[4,5,6]] suppose that I want to keep only elements where the sum of the list is greater than N. I tried writing: filter(lambda x, y, z: x + y + z >= N, a) but I get the error: <lambda>() takes exactly 3 arguments (1 given) How can I iterate while assigning values of each element to x, y, and z? Something like zip, but for arbitrarily long lists. thanks, p.s. I know I can write this using: filter(lambda x: sum(x)..., a) but that's not the point, imagine that these were not numbers but arbitrary elements and I wanted to assign their values to variable names.

  • Updating a session variable on a page that uses enablesessionstate=readonly attribute doesn't fail f

    - by chandmk
    Asp.Net allows you you set the session state to readonly at individual page level or in the web.config for all pages. But it doesn't prevent you from creating a brand new session variable on that page or modify an existing session variable. But when you try to use that session variable it is either not available or its value is not modified. Why wouldn't the asp.net framework throw a run time error, if not compile time error, when a write attempt is made to a session on the pages where that is not allowed?

  • Arrays in javascript, how can i learn manipulating it?

    - by Noor
    I've read alot about the core implementation of arrays in javascript and often i find that experimenting is the best way to learn, Right now i have multiple forms where you can type in different things, i want to be able to pull the value of each one and put it in an array so that i can later on read them in in a dynamically created div.. Can anyone point me in the right direction? There is a way i could get around this and that would be by using just one form, and pulling the text from there seperated by comas (,).. the thing is that i don't have the knowledge to pull the text form the form, search and find the comas, then make a new variable i think is neccessary, and read that in.. i know how to "think" javascript, not how to write it.. how do i learn the easiest/fastest way?

  • Odd C interview question

    - by Brennan Vincent
    Hi guys. I found this problem on a site full of interview questions, and was stumped by it. Is there some preprocessor directive that allows one to read from standard input during compilation? Write a small C program, which while compiling takes another program from input terminal, and on running gives the result for the second program. (NOTE: The key is, think UNIX). Suppose, the program is 1.c Then, while compiling $ cc -o 1 1.c int main() { printf("Hello World\n"); } ^D $ ./1 Hello World

  • Javascript Grid that can handle sections in a table

    - by user335410
    I am making an ASP.NET MVC application that lets a user design a questionnaire that other users can fill out. Now, questionnaires, rather than just having a list of questions, often have sections or subsections that could have headings and not the other columns that an ordinary row (a question) would have. I want a JS Grid that can handle sections and subsections elegantly. I tried using JQGrid, but there the options I have are limited to a "Grid as Subgrid" structure. The appearance becomes quite complex and unlike a questionnaire. Is there a Javascript Grid or a JQuery plugin that can handle this? I can write my own HTML table as long as the JS app will format the table and will add some user-friendliness to the table.

  • Java vs c++ types

    - by folone
    I've recently had a question about coledatetime java implementation, and Chris said, that the problem might lay in type conversions: cpp-float vs java-float (Or maybe cpp-date vs java-date. Not types, but..). Now I have several questions on this: Is there a table of comparison for java vs c++ types? If type conversions is the problem, in my situation (I have a db with OLEDate records, already created with some c++ program. I need to read and write to that db, so that the OLEDate field compatibility remained: my java code reads proper dates, and c++ program is not affected with what the java program wrote to the db.), what would you do: Use COleDateTime to retrieve the date with JNI? Create your own implementation at all costs (using broader types, or anything else)? Is there anything, I'm missing here?

  • JavaScript and ASP.NET - Cookies with Key / Value Pairs

    - by user208662
    Hello, This question mixes client-side scripting with server-side parsing. In some cases, I'm writing a cookie to the user's browser using the document.cookie property. In other cases, I'm writing the same cookie to the user's browser through the ASP.NET Response object. When I'm writing the HttpCookie on the server-side, I am using the Values collection (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/system.web.httpcookie.values%28v=VS.80%29.aspx) to store key/value pairs in the cookie. I would also like to be able to write key-value pairs to the cookie through JavaScript. How do I create cookies with Key/Value pairs via JavaScript that ASP.NET can parse? Thank you!

  • File location for config file to app installed to local user location

    - by user54064
    I have a WinForm app that has inside of the app's config file locations to find files for the app to use as it runs. However, the app will be installed locally for each user so it can't be hard coded. For Vista and Windows 7 the installer puts the app in c:\users\\Documents area. Under Windows XP it puts it in a different location. How can I write the config file to use some sort of placeholder to be filled in at runtime with the specific user's information? I am just using the default areas that Windows wants to install a per-user install but need the config file to be flexible at runtime for the specific user.

  • Help using the Office Interop for Word and Outlook 2007 in VB.NET

    - by vhorsen
    I need to start utilizing the interop in my programs to automate several functions in Word and Outlook and I was checking if anyone knew a good place to start. My ultimate goal is for my program to kick off a mail merge, create several different files and save them accordingly, then e-mail the different files to different people based upon who needs what. So any help on learning how to use the interop properly would be greatly appreciated. I am currently using Visual Studio 2008 and Office 2007 and use vb.net to write my programs. Thank you in advance.
