  • Dynamically building and updating Histograms with JFreeChart

    I've got a stream of incoming data that I would like to plot using a simple histogram. I don't know the range of values, or the proper resolution or bin width to use for the histogram. SimpleHistogramDataset provides some of this functionality, but I don't want to have to deal with catching exceptions in order to add new bins if the new value isn't covered. In addition, it doesn't easily allow me to rebuild the histogram using a different bin width (perhaps an integer multiples of some initial set width). Is there an easy way to accomplish this with JFreeChart or some alternate charting library, or am I going to have to write my own class here?

    I am trying to use dom4j to validate the xml at http://www.w3schools.com/Schema/schema_example.asp using the xsd from that same page.   • Difference of HTTP Components, Restlet, Apache Mina and Netty

    I used HTTPComponents to implement a custom web server that access SQLite database. Requests are sent via TCP/IP and I am using REST concepts. By the way my frontend is HTML/jQuery. I know it will be a lot easier if I'll just create a servlet but I am restricted to just using apache http server. I really don't get good performance in using HTTP Components. Any suggestions please. Thanks in advance.

  • How to use Guice in Swing application

    I have a Swing application that I would like to convert from spaghetti to using dependency injection with Guice. Using Guice to provide services like configuration and task queues is going great but I'm now starting on the GUI of the app and am unsure of how to proceed. The application is basically a JFrame with a bunch of tabs in a JTabbedPane. Each of the tabs is a separate JPanel subclass that lays out the various components and needs services to perform actions when certain buttons are pressed. In the current application, this looks somewhat like this: @Inject public MainFrame(SomeService service, Executor ex, Configuration config) { tabsPane = new JTabbedPane(); // Create the panels for each tab and add them to the tabbedpane somePanel = new SomeTabPanel(service, ex, config); tabsPane.addTab("Panel 1", somePanel); someOtherPanel = new SomeOtherTabPanel(service, ex, config); tabsPane.addTab("Panel 2", someOtherPanel); ... do more stuff } Obviously, this doesn't exactly follow DI best practices. I don't want to have to @Inject the tabs because that would get me a constructor with dozens of parameters. I do want to use Guice to inject the required dependencies into whatever tab objects I need without me having to pass all of those dependencies to the tab constructors. All of the dependencies for the tab objects are services that my Module knows about, so basically all I think I want to do is to ask Guice for the required objects and have them constructed for me.

    Hi All ! I have hashmap and its keys are like "folder/1.txt,folder/2.txt,folder/3.txt" and value has these text files data. Now i am stucked. I want to sort this list. But it does not let me do it :( Here is my hashmap data type: HashMap<String, ArrayList<String>> following function work good but it is for arraylist not for hashmap. Collections.sort(values, Collections.reverseOrder()); I also tried MapTree but it also didn't work, or may be I couldn't make it work.     Hi you all, I'm trying to do this contest exercise about graphs: XPTO is an intrepid adventurer (a little too temerarious for his own good) who boasts about exploring every corner of the universe, no matter how inhospitable. In fact, he doesn't visit the planets where people can easily live in, he prefers those where only a madman would go with a very good reason (several millions of credits for instance). His latest exploit is trying to survive in Proxima III. The problem is that Proxima III suffers from storms of highly corrosive acids that destroy everything, including spacesuits that were especially designed to withstand corrosion. Our intrepid explorer was caught in a rectangular area in the middle of one of these storms. Fortunately, he has an instrument that is capable of measuring the exact concentration of acid on each sector and how much damage it does to his spacesuit. Now, he only needs to find out if he can escape the storm. Problem The problem consists of finding an escape route that will allow XPTOto escape the noxious storm. You are given the initial energy of the spacesuit, the size of the rectangular area and the damage that the spacesuit will suffer while standing in each sector. Your task is to find the exit sector, the number of steps necessary to reach it and the amount of energy his suit will have when he leaves the rectangular area. The escape route chosen should be the safest one (i.e., the one where his spacesuit will be the least damaged). Notice that Rodericus will perish if the energy of his suit reaches zero. In case there are more than one possible solutions, choose the one that uses the least number of steps. If there are at least two sectors with the same number of steps (X1, Y1) and (X2, Y2) then choose the first if X1 < X2 or if X1 = X2 and Y1 < Y2. Constraints 0 < E = 30000 the suit's starting energy 0 = W = 500 the rectangle's width 0 = H = 500 rectangle's height 0 < X < W the starting X position 0 < Y < H the starting Y position 0 = D = 10000 the damage sustained in each sector Input The first number given is the number of test cases. Each case will consist of a line with the integers E, X and Y. The following line will have the integers W and H. The following lines will hold the matrix containing the damage D the spacesuit will suffer whilst in the corresponding sector. Notice that, as is often the case for computer geeks, (1,1) corresponds to the upper left corner. Output If there is a solution, the output will be the remaining energy, the exit sector's X and Y coordinates and the number of steps of the route that will lead Rodericus to safety. In case there is no solution, the phrase Goodbye cruel world! will be written. The pos with the bester binomial (Energy,num_Steps) is our "way out". Important : XPTO obviously can't move in diagonals, so we have to cut out this cases. I have many ideas, but I have such a problem implementing them... Could someone please help me thinking about this with some code or, at least, ideas? Am I totally wrong?

  • JPA 2.0, hiberante 3.5, jars & persistence.xml location

    I'm building a desktop application using hibernate 3.5 & JPA 2.0. I have 2 jars, the lib, which defines every entity and DAO, packages looks like this : org.my.package.models org.my.package.models.dao org.my.package.models.utils In org.my.package.utils I defined my hibernate utility class for getting EM & EMF instances, which means the lib is bound to a Persistence Unit name but that's not a problem for now (anyway you can recommend me a better way to manage that) the second jars is built as follow: org.my.package.app META-INF is defined on the root of the project which means in my jar I can find this directories directly in the root: META-INF/ META-INF/persistence.xml org/ org/my/ ... org/my/package/app/Main.class META-INF/ When I run the app, hibernate doesn't managed to find persistence.xml it throws an exception something like "package or class for PersistenceUnitName not found". I googled a bit about the problem but I can't get the source code organisation right. Any help ?

I read through http://blogs.sun.com/jonthecollector/entry/did_you_know which had a suggestion of enabling CMSScavengeBeforeRemark, but the side effects of pausing did not seem ideal. Could anyone offer up any suggestions? Also I was wondering if anyone had a good reference for grokking the CMS GC logs, in particular this line: [1 CMS-remark: 16015K(393216K)] 71979K(511232K), 0.0746640 secs] Not clear on what memory regions those numbers are referring to.

    Greeting, I'm trying to put some Beanshell script in my Ant build.xml file. I've followed the Ant manual as well as I can but I keep getting "Unable to create javax script engine for beanshell" when I run Ant. Here is the test target I wrote mostly from examples in the Ant manual: <target name="test-target"> <script language="beanshell" setbeans="true"> <classpath> <fileset dir="c:\TEMP" includes="*.jar" /> </classpath> System.out.println("Hello world"); </script> </target> My beanshell "bsh-2.0b4.jar" file is on the script task's classpath the way the manual recommended.   • Blackberry stopwatch implementation

    I'm trying to write a blackberry app that is basically a stopwatch, and displays lap times. First, I'm not sure I'm implementing the stopwatch functionality in the most optimal way. I have a LabelField (_myLabel) that displays the 'clock' - starting at 00:00. Then you hit the start button and every second the _myLabel field gets updated with how many seconds have past since the last update (should only ever increment by 1, but sometimes there is a delay and it will skip a number). I just can't think of a different way to do it - and I am new to GUI development and threads so I guess that's why. When this list gets long, the timer starts to degrade. If you try to scroll, then it gets really bad. Is there a better way to implement my stopwatch?

  • Can I can configure cxf to use a specific XML parser?

    Is there a way to specify which XML parser cxf uses? Either through the cfx.xml file or programmatically? Our app has the Woodstox parser on its classpath, and cxf seems to be using that by default. However, the Woodstox implementation seems to truncate large Base64 encoded byte arrays in the SOAP packet. Removing Woodstox from the classpath eliminates this truncation problem, but that's not an option right now since other parts of our app also depends on Woodstox. It would be ideal if I could simply tell cxf to use another XML parser. Is this possible?

The top Content links back to the Package, with cascade set to ALL. The top Content may have many "sub" Contents, and each sub-Content may have many sub-Contents of its own. Each sub-Content has a parent Package, which may or may not be the same Package as the top Content (ie a many-to-one relationship for Content to Package). The relationships are required to be ManyToOne (Package to Content) and ManyToMany (Content to sub-Contents) but for the case I am currently testing each sub-Content only relates to one Package or Content. The problem is that when I delete a Package and flush the session, I get a Hibernate error stating that I'm violating a foreign key constraint on table subcontents, with a particular content_id still referenced from table subcontents. I've tried specifically (recursively) deleting the Contents before deleting the Package but I get the same error. Is there a reason why this entity tree is not being deleted properly? EDIT: After reading answers/comments I realised that a Content cannot have multiple Packages, and a sub-Content cannot have multiple parent-Contents, so I have modified the annotations from ManyToOne and ManyToMany to OneToOne and OneToMany. Unfortunately that did not fix the problem. I have also added the bi-directional link from Content back to the parent Package which I left out of the simplified code.

I have no experience with none of them, so I wonder which one should I choose for a new project...   • SVNKit: Commit files that were manually deleted from filesystem( Work Copy)

    I can not solve the problem with collecting CommitItem(changes that commit), or more accurately, I have no porblem with the changed and added files BUT files that I manually deleted from the file system is not seen in CommitItem list ... And those changes can not commit to the SVN server. If I delete a file using the API, then the problem does not exist... but manually deleting ... Has anyone had a similar problem?

    I have the following File object pointing to a directory via symbolic link, File directory = new File("/path/symlink/foo/bar"); String[] files = directory.listFiles(); listFiles() returns null, is this because of the symlink? if yes, how will I go about this if I really want to list the files in bar using the path that contains a symlink?
